And all this time I genuinely thought it was a selfie of Mike? You know I just understood there were all types of people on here and accepted that for what it was.

Would that make this a group shot from a meet up?!!! ;)

Besides being pawed at by Croc, I don't know why all the fuss about Mighty Mike's avatar. I've met Mike up close and in person. His avatar is spot-on. :jester:

I've been talking with Quicksilver, and they definitely sound like the right kind of builder. I'll finish pulling the motor and mail it off to them next weekend. In 4-6 months I should finally have the Seven going again, faster than ever. In the meantime I think I'm going to buy an S2000 to get back on the track.

Jefferson,

Changing the subject, do you have any info on a new track being built in Texas?

I haven't heard about one, except for some vague rumors of a track to replace TWS. But there are always rumors. I'm not sure it's easy to make money off of a track. Motorsports Ranch and MSRH seem to be doing very well. Eagles Canyon, Harris Hill and Driveway are all surviving, but the owners probably could have made more money with different investments. Even COTA is struggling (or says they are). Most of the rumored tracks never materialize.

But if they build it I will go.

I went to the first time TWS was closing forever, about 15 years ago. Looks like for real. It does look hopeful that most of the tracks you mentioned are surviving. 30-50 years ago, it seemed a track had to go bankrupt and change hands 2 or 3 time until it was cheap enough to make a going concern. Of course, the emphasis on track days instead of totally irresponsible driving on public roads (hearsay, 5th amendment, etc.) helps add income. Also the huge limits of modern cars compared to the old stuff has an influence there.

I just had Paul Hasselgren of Hasselgren Race Engineering build me a 2.5L Cosworth Duartec/MZR with a barrel throttle. He builds the race engines in our Formula Atlantic race cars. This is essentially a 2.3L Cosworth/Duartec Formula Atlantic engine with a 2.5L MZR stroker crank and lower compression to run on 93 octane. It made 273 HP on Hasselgren’s dyno. It has an excellent powerband and is very driveable. It wasn’t cheap, but

Cheap, Reliable, Fast: - Pick any two...
