Kitcat
My '03 Zetec powered Caterham uses a starter from a 2000-2004 Ford Focus w/DOHC engine and manual transmission, Denso part number 2805118. No idea if Zetec Birkins use the same one tho.
S1Steve
Clark, Maybe a call to Tom Carlin, Birkin Dealer-Importer in Colorado can give advice.I’m assuming you have a Type9 transmission bolted up to a custom bellhousing made by or for Birkin . This may have something to do with getting a proper replacement. Tom’s coming to our track weekend at NJMP , I’d be happy to ask him for you and get that info back to you. He may have started his long tow east to New Jersey... Edited October 14, 2020 by S1Steve
11Budlite
This is the starter I had in my old 2001 Birkin with a Zetec motor.
Clarko
That’s awesome... that looks like exactly the one that seems to be faulty! Magic thankyou:)
Clarko
Steve. Thankyou:) Please do mention it to him. He is aware of my challenge with it, and he may also be aware of where to source a replacement easily , although of course his tenure is I think with the Duratec motors. Very jealous of you guys being there.. have an awesome time:)
Vovchandr
Just as FYI. There are two different Zetec flywheel/Clutch/starter setups. I don't remember the details but the difference is pretty obvious in the starter gear "canopy". One will have long engagement one will have short engagement and the canopy housing will differ accordingly.
