sainthoo
Another day off and it’s basically done. placed mats, put in seats, last big job was those front fenders which I had put off- but, nothing left to do, waiting for headers guidance from Caterham, need a fuse box cover. sainthoo
Composite seats are awesome- the contrast stitching is really a nice touch.
sainthoo
Rubber mats were a bit more of a chore than I anticipated. Snaps riveted to floor after mats trimmed. Getting the snaps in the mat itself was a pain- ultimately a tap or two with a hole punch worked to get the snaps assembled.
sainthoo
Did not like fitting front fenders- they did not seem to be perfectly symmetric, so basically eyeballed it, glued it, currently have fingers crossed as the drying happens overnight.
sainthoo
Fitted the foul weather gear just for the heck of it.
sainthoo
Need to figure out side mirror mounting/placement, install license plate light. I’m sure I’ll have some electrical sorting, TBD. Just need the “top hat” for the speed sensor, fuse box cover….. and possibly some new headers. Edited May 6, 2022 by sainthoo

This is the fastener on the underside of the arm rest for the door. Anyone know what/name fastener this goes into? Also, anyone have a picture of where/how this fastener is attached to inside of car near arm rest?

You should have the female portion of that fastener on the inside of the sill - same color and size but with a hole in it.

I chose to attach the the windscreen rather than the doors since I'm usually door-less. First step is to figure out doors or windscreen.

Umm... I see that you installed the interior side panels. The female end of that fastener goes right about in the center of the picture you posted a while back. The good news is it appears to be a clip, so I'm thinking that you just drill out one of the rivets, slide it into place and then rivet. If you need a picture that shows which rivet to drill let me know.

sainthoo
How does one properly attach these? I can see using the forward bolt hole, then punching a snap through the back where there is already a snap in the chassis (not sure 1 snap is good enough to prevent flapping like crazy)

Definitely windscreen- Josh @RMC says he has some nice brackets, probably go that direction. Edited May 7, 2022 by sainthoo
sainthoo
Anyone know of a simple (idiot proof) way to drill the steering wheel to match quick disconnect?
MV8
Trace the bolt holes of the adapter on paper with a pencil or rub a piece of paper over the adapter, creasing the paper at the holes, then flip the paper and trace the creases. Pick up a set of acrylic protractors at the fabric/craft store and an adjustable pencil compass like we had in school. Mark the center of the holes by measuring the hole then marking half that with a dot. Connect adjacent dots with a straight line. You should now have a triangle over three circles. Using a square/90 degree protractor, draw a straight line from each dot perpendicular to the opposite line across the triangle. Where these lines intersect is the center. Make a pin hole in the center and the dots; a total of four pin holes. Align the center hole over the divot in the center of the steering wheel, center a dot hole over the bottom spoke, and mark the wheel with three dots. Center punch the dots. Drill with a 3/32 bit, then step it up in several steps to no more than the required size. 1
sainthoo
Anyone care to chime in on this measurement (how does it compare to your car)? Edit: SV with aero wishbones Edit #2: Caterham cut the opening in the wrong spot for the SV…. This should be located 13.625” from front wishbone. …. At least I’m not crazy…. Now to get to a solution. KnifeySpoony
2 things to note re: that dimension. 1: make sure people know It's an SV ( I assume this makes this dimension different than an S3), and 2: you have aero wishbones, which are wider than the tubular wishbones so will reduced that dimension slightly in your car. I'd help you out but I have an S3. Edited May 11, 2022 by KnifeySpoony
sf4018
I have a 420R SV with Aero wishbones - it's 13.6" between skin openings. One note though - the original order was with the track exhaust (the one that goes out the back of the car and has 2 mufflers). Everything fitted fine. I later got the regular "louder" single muffler that spits the exhaust out to the right side, but the mounts for the 2 exhaust systems are about 3" further forward, so I had to build a bracket to make the new one work. This is probably useless info, but maybe it's a clue for something relating to exhaust type.
