Fender porn

Recommended Posts

Showed my Se7en some love this Winter - filled pits, had rear fenders repainted, and replaced pitted stainless stone guards with carbon fiber. I was actually surprised at how heavy the stainless ones are. Improved the look of the whole car. I figure you guys are the only people I know who would appreciate this fender porn :classic_biggrin:.

OK, so how heavy are the stainless steel guards vs. the carbon fiber guards:)?

I didn't weigh the carbon ones, but I can weigh the stainless ones and post in the next couple of days.

Sounds good, no hurry, just curious.

And speaking of lightness, I just weighed my stock Caterham  roll-over bar: 7.5 lbs....

Whoa, that is light. SV or S3 chassis?

Who did you get the CF ones from? I'm contemplating the same project as mine look like crap after 5500 mi.

Same question here. Mine are stock CF from Caterham with 20k miles of backroad pitting on the guards and rear fenders. I'm considering a vinyl wrap on the fenders since they're destined for more abuse and I'm hesitant to make the rest of the car match fresh paint.

S3.

Copy. I'm sure the SV is only marginally heavier. I'll weigh when mine comes off to replace with the FIA rollbar.

Or "Paint Protection Film."

My Caterham has PPF on the rear fenders that extends about 10 inches beyond the tops of the carbon fiber guards (which are also covered in PPF). The PPF was applied first, then the PPF-covered carbon fiber guards went on top of that.

Everything looks great after many miles; no small thing given the black paint job.
