Bringatrailer Success Story

glad you all saw the story on BaT. As noted the car has been stripped of the turbocharger and runs well. The next step is to build a new windscreen as the original and the carbon fiber one do not work well. The dash needs replacing as the tach and speedometer are directly behind the steering wheel and are unreadable.

I am glad you are having fun on this journey to tailor the Caterham to your taste.

We bought 2 Caterham Seven on BAT.  One for me, another one for a good friend of mine who realized that I had more fun than him with one of his 2 McLaren, Ferrari or Lamborghini :)

Caterham sales on BAT have faltered a bit recently. The results section shows that just 2 of the last 8 Caterham auctions have met the reserve. Prior to that the odds of a successful auction were reversed(only 2 of 8 failed to meet the reserve).

No idea why. Maybe the reserves kept creeping upwards due to all of the prior BAT successes?

  • 4 weeks later...

This car was previously local to me and I had the opportunity to admire it up close.  When it went up for sale I very seriously considered it.  It is a great looking car and the mechanicals were to a generally high level.  But the complexity....  My thought was to go the same Less Is More route as the new owner.  Nice to hear it has turned out well and in the hands of a good owner.  In the end I bought a different Seven with a personal connection and a drivetrain on my engine bucket list.
