2022 Brand new Unused Caterham 7 360 R for sale - NO LONGER FOR SALE

Hi guys,

Hope y’all are having a fun snowy Saturday morning…

I own a brand new 2022 Caterham 7 360 R, and I wanna sell it. It was ordered and professionally built by a U.S. Caterham dealer.

It has a Red body, with Carbon fiber race stripes, has race seats, wooden steering wheel, contrast red leather cover for transmission and hand break. It comes with a full weather kit, has a rear roll bar, and gray alloy wheels. It has been road tested as well, so it runs fine.

The only reason why I’m looking to sell it is that I’ve been moving a lot lately, because of work, and I might be doing the same this year, probably internationally. While I’m very excited for the move, because of that, it can become a nightmare to transport the car internationally, with every country having its own unique custom laws. And, I have no idea at this point how long I’ll be working outside of the US, so I don’t wanna pay for long term car storages either.

I’ve attached some pics. Further spec details and price available upon request.

Title and registration - this is unregistered. I haven’t taken delivery yet, so haven’t had the opportunity to register it.

On the other hand, if anyone has any experience moving Caterhams (or custom built kit cars) internationally (specifically the UK), I’d love to hear from you guys too, as I want to keep it if I can.

UPDATE: Hi guys, after a lot of research and consideration, I’ve decided to keep the car, and not sell it.

Thank you all for the interest and feedback.

Have a nice weekend.

Best,

Arahant

Clearly built by Beachman Racing.  I recognize some things of mine in the background of these photos.

A few suggestions to improve your ad:

- These are build photos.  Photos of the completed car are really needed, preferably outside will help a prospective purchaser.

- Is the car titled and registered?  If so then which state (Washington?).  How is it titled?  2023 Caterham or something else?

- If I were you I would edit the photos to ensure they are all the right way up.

Haha, yes, beachman. Thanks. I’ll update it.

For obvious reason I’m not in the market but… I'd love to see images. Unfortunately they don’t show up for me. All I see is a little broken window looking thing.

Nice spec. I really like the red around the handbrake and shifter. Looks very sharp.

the wood wheel is an odd choice but to each their own as they say !

I guess this was the car you were mentioning in the Canada forum?

Right!? Apparently they don’t offer on the default spec, but I asked my dealer to ask them if they have other customizable options and they did.

The same with the wooden steering. I never liked the Momo one. It looks like low end plastic. I saw the wooden steering on a Super Seven model online, and liked it. It has a very classic feel to it! And it looks gorgeous, imo!!

I also want to have a bike rack on the rear roll bar, but maybe I’ll do that a few years down the line, haha

Yes, I was referring to this one there.

ATA Carnet if not staying anywhere more than 12 months?

International customs brokers are your friends.  DON'T TRY TO DO CUSTOMS ON YOUR OWN

With Scotticus. Bringing low vol uk car back to UK will be easier than bringing to Germany etc.

Did some research (exploring expat Euro assignment). My wife's macan would need indicators and emissions tune to pass Tüv. They're slightly more lenient if it's returning to the homeland. There are shops in Europe which help with legality etc.

It sounds like you're going to the UK? MOT shouldn't be too bad, and caterham definitely has some dealership which knows an MOT testing station which knows these vehicles.

Reimporting to the US might be ok as the car was originally delivered.

Yes, the UK. Thanks, this was helpful.

Yes but…… is your car legally a Caterham???  While we all call these Caterhams some / many / most are legally something else.

My car for example: 2005 model , built by Rocky Mtn Caterham in Colorado is legally a Colorado Assembled Vehicle and has a Colorado VIN and is therefore considered a USA made car so I had the advantage of not paying duties when importing to Canada since it fell under NAFTA rules since it was a USA car. But from a legal and paperwork perspective it’s not a Caterham. The chassis has a 17 digit Caterham VIN but the final product , title etc is Assembled Vehicle

at that time C’s had to have the chassis built by company A and the engine supplied by company B (or some variation of that) to be considered kit cars as I’m sure many more people can attest and know the ins and outs (I’m certainly no expert) . but maybe that has changed since 2005.

you’d also have to look at the regulations of having a LHD car in a RHD country. Here in Canada you can so that but only with cars that are older than 15 years. But in countries like Japan you can have a LHD car brand new.

since you haven’t taken delivery of it yet it sounds like it’s not even titled or registered so you might not even know what it will be legally called. But your dealer will tell you.

Just something to consider.

Right. That is a good point. I’ll check with my dealer.

But I was looking at the UK rules surrounding registering custom built cars. One can register LHD cars there, but it has to pass an inspection, which would be similar to registering it in NYS, for example.

So, ultimately, as long as the car satisfies the inspection requirements, does it really matter what brad it is under?

And, I have yet to register to it in New York. I guess I’ll know the legality of it after that.

You do bring up some valid points, and I’ll check those out.

As a New Yorker with a 2001 titled Caterham who can't get his car inspected do whatever you can to not be considered a "2022" or whatever the year. Any car less than 25 years old will need to pass OBD2 in NY. There are some exceptions but usually you'll get a new VIN and titled assigned for it, looping back to the fact that don't get it titles as a Caterham here to begin with.

I'm only 2 years away from being grandfathered in to avoid OBD2 inspections

Just a few short simple questions:

1) Where exactly is the car located?

2) Is it completed or is it still in a state of only partially assembled?

3) What is your asking price?

4) Is it for sale or not?

5) Transmission is a ????    4 speed, 5speed, or 6 speed?

6) Type of rear suspension?

7) Engine type and spec?

8) is it running and / or drivable?

Thank you,  Frank

Hi Frank, I see this is your first post. Looks like an amazing car to get started with. I have a tendency to get all excited about things I like and sometimes I over look stuff that’s right there in front of me. May I suggest that you re read the ad, look at the photos and re read the comments that have been made. I think you’ll discover, (with a little Google search help) the answers to your questions.

1)    Croc points out that the photos were taken at Beachman Racing. That’s in Redmond, WA. The seller says he hasn’t taken delivery yet so it’s probably still there.

2)    The seller does say that the car has been “…road tested and runs fine.” So I’d say it’s complete.

3)    The seller also states; “Further spec details and price available upon request.”  I’d read that to mean, via Private Message.

4)    The seller does say; “…I wanna sell it.”

5)    If you look at the photos it appears to be a 5 speed “R” type shift knob. However, I may be mistaken, it’s been known to happen. ;)

6)    It’s a 2022 360R. A quick search of the Caterham site will show you that it’s a De Dion.

7)    Again, it’s a 360R. That means it’s powered by a Ford Duratec 1999cc, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated with max power of 180 h.p.

8)    See answer #2

I hope this helps.
