RGTorque
hello all, i had my wcm ultralite delivered just over a week ago. i love driving it and what not but its damn hard switching lanes with no mirrors... no rear or side view. ive seen options for bolt on mirrors where i would cut into the hood and i would use that route as a last resort. my problem is that i don't have a full front glass, just the two little wind screens. i don't want to be punching holes in the car that i would take away strength in the future. so my question is this, can i get CLIP/CLAMP on mirrors? i would like to attach them to the hood of the car where it closes over the dash. i have about 2 inches on each side. i have only been able to locate bike mirrors which clamp on in a different fashion so im coming to you all for help. thanks in advance, and ill post a pic of the dash/car tomorrow. xflow7
Someone at Lime Rock had mirrors that clamped onto his windscreen stanchions, but now I can't remember who it was.
MHKflyer52
Check SpeedWay Motors as they have several different types for street rods that should work.
Mondo
I saw a WCM (which I'm having built too) that had a center mirror somehow coming off the center pin that holds down the hood. I thought that was pretty trick. Don't know how they did it though..
powderbrake
I am using some mirrors ( one each side) which were supplied by WCM with my Ultralite kit. They are motorcycle mirrors, so they DO NOT vibrate loose and need constant readjustment. They mount via a (approximately)1/2 dia hole in the fiberglass hood. I use a chrome plated washer ( from my local hardware store) to spread the load on the fiberglass. There is a threaded stud with a nut on the inside. I don't know the brand, but I am sure that Brian Anderson at WCM can get them for you, or give directions to a source. It take two people to find the right spot. You sit in the drivers seat and have your helper hold the mirror in place to find the spot to drill the hole. I can adjust the mirrors so I can see the adjacent lanes when driving on the street, and I can tilt them in a bit to see directly behind me, to watch for overtaking cars ( not likely ) during a track day. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/114525529_DSC_4286 (Medium).JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/611582679_DSC_4287 (Medium).JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/656649972_DSC_4288 (Medium).JPG
rv-4mike
Roman, The first Ultralite I checked out over in Phoenix had a pretty cool setup. He had a single mirror clamped to the rollbar down tube that comes from the apex of the bar forward. Hard to describe. I have a picture but the file is huge (high res; over 1MB) and I dont know how to shrink it. If you PM me with your email address i can send it direct to you. I'm a little confused on what you got? Is it the S2K or an XR7. I know there was a pretty trick XR7 for sale recently. But I'm gathering from the thread that yours is Mazda powered so I guess its not the XR7 I'm thinking of. Congratulations on the purchase. I'm jealous. I ordered my Ultralite kit way back in december but didnt have the bucks or space to bring it home yet. Getting very close now. I hope to pick it up this month.

rv-4mike
Thanks Mazda. You are right. That works great. Hard to make out the details on the mirror here, but you get the idea. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1616116887_mogollon_1-15-20071353 (Small).jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/937671938_mogollon_1-15-20071348 (Small).jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/88320360_mogollon_1-15-20071352 (Small).jpg

RGTorque
looks like the color i was going to paint my corrado, off of a volvo v70r.
rv-4mike
Yes, it was definitely unique. The car belonged to Dick Laurie over in the Phoenix area. Dick had an original 427 Cobra that he owned for 30+ years that was that color so he painted the Ultralite to match. He ended up buying the Ultralite and selling the Cobra because he wanted something he could drive. The Cobra had become so valuable it wasnt any fun for him to drive it on the street anymore. I saw it way back in January just before Barrett-Jackson. I dont know if he ever sold it. Unfortunately my computer took a dump this past summer and I lost all my email including contact info for Dick. But Brian Anderson at WCM may know how to get a hold of him.
