Reiver Posted Monday at 04:18 PM Posted Monday at 04:18 PM (edited) I know they are available in Blighty but the folks I contacted will not ship to the US (fragility). I tried a search but only the Brit comments referred to local purchase. Is there any source in the US? Mine is presently fine but in AZ (and I drive a great deal in the 7) it is simply a matter of time. e.g. took my older 911 to Phx to get a long-cracked screen replaced.... nice job.....got a rock on the way home with a 9 in. crack. Sweet. Called insurance and they told me not overly unusual. Edited Monday at 04:20 PM by Reiver
Vovchandr Posted Monday at 04:27 PM Posted Monday at 04:27 PM UK is right for not shipping to US. I've had a pro distributor try to ship me two and they both showed up destroyed (one replacement for the other). If you want heating element in it still you need to go OEM If you just want a piece of glass (I dont think you need windshield heat in AZ) any local glass place should be able to cut you one with little fuss. You just have to pop open your windshield apart to give them something to trace/use as reference. Could try these guys https://clearcutglass.com/about-clear-cut-glass/ 7888 N Glen Harbor Blvd. Suite 100 Glendale, AZ 85307 602.354.5664
Reiver Posted Monday at 05:04 PM Author Posted Monday at 05:04 PM That is a good recommendation but isn't the original glass thinner that US 1/4 in. I've read that and wonder about the fit.

I've read that and wonder about the fit. Not certain on that regard. The place I linked was one of the few that I saw that do all glass not just for cars but for home and business as well. Assumption with that is that they can cut any size and any thickness, while auto places are likely to order made units instead of doing cuts. Best bet is to give a quick call, tell them you have a flat piece of glass you'd like cut for a European car and see if they can match it if you bring it in. They will either say yes to having that capability or no. If you find a place and discussion that works, please update us here because there's a number of members that are interested in same service and wondering what it costs. I never use my windshield but long term it likely needs a replacement as well. Its all sorts of pitted (thats why I tried to order two). If youd like width measurement I can measure my cracked unit thickness next time I'm at the storage location. Edited Monday at 05:16 PM by Vovchandr
MV8 Posted Monday at 05:36 PM Posted Monday at 05:36 PM There are different thicknesses of laminated glass available from most residential/commercial glass shops.
theDreamer Posted Monday at 05:40 PM Posted Monday at 05:40 PM If you want an OEM with the electric filaments contact one of the US dealers. I’m sure if they do not have one in stock that they could get one. Might have to wait until they have a shipment coming in and of course it will cost.
