I’m not 100% on the 620. Maybe the 480.

the rhd only for the 620 has me still debating.

I had an 05 Elise.  And reflected on how fast it was (to me).  Then a few months later added the supercharger.

Not long after I could not get over how slow the N/A was.

I think that’s what will happen here. But committing to RHD all the time. May be a bit much of a leap.

RHD is how these vehicles were meant to be driven. :) My ears appreciate being away from the exhaust. You get used to shifting RHD very quickly.

When I did, my rental, shifting with my left hand felt very foreign, and I definitely was not particularly proficient

I did get through it, and I did have some fun blast with it.

but unsure I want that all the time.

I also do not want to look back and think I missed out on anything

I love my 420. But do wonder if I would like a 620.  But never drove one. And frankly could foot the bill on the 620 so I am happy with what I have.  If I drive enough and hard enough maybe the engine will need to be replaced in my lifetime.  Maybe go with a destroked 2.5

caterham says if you order 10 620s they would make it in left hand drive.  So it can be done.  Maybe Greg can figure out how to route the steering around the super charger. And super charge the 420.

Keep an eye out for mine! Silver 420R Left-hand drive, green cage. It's being built as a kit so at most you'd see a shelf of parts I think but it should be in there now. Have fun on the tour!

RHD S3 420 cup is the GOAT car. You have good taste sir.

Having had a supercharged Exige (S240), and now a 420R with roller barrels, the 7 is much quicker. Much more immediate response and pulls harder. 620 is bananas for sure.

Had a great weekend in London. Wonderful tour of the assembly facility.

Thank you all for the thoughts and advice.   Next few months are gonna drag while I await the car.

I walked the facility with Trevor, CFO.  I wasn’t sure about taking pictures, but asked a lot of questions.

I did take a pick of the leather options.

looks like it’ll be a 620S with a leather package like the super seven 2000 & leather wrapped roll bars. 15” Orcus anthracite wheels.

im undecided on paint.  Heritage sage or bourbon. Leaning bourbon. Thought to tell if the bourbon is bright enough. Some images show it darker than I’d like.

For a new Caterham, all dealers now follow the same process, in which 1) rollers/kits are sold at MSRP; 2) pricing is inclusive of duty/tariff/shipping. For (2), the buyer doesn't need to worry about  any of it. Of course, given the chaos associated with our personality-driven US tariff policy, there may be an exception if tariffs substantively change in magnitude over the life of the order.

We have two pre-owned 420Rs in-stock right now - one a red S3 (2022) and one a black SV (2020). PM for details.

Cheers,

-Bruce

Curious, what made you choose the leather wrapped roll bar? I have never seen a Caterham other than ours with one.

Also, bourbon would be my choice especially if it was a metallic paint.

Greg at Time machines talked about it a few times.

I figured I’d get the painted roll bar, but after thinking about it more, leather wrapped sounded great

thank you for sharing your photo. Looks amazing.

Still working with greg and caterham folks to lock down color codes.

the configuration tool is good, but has some limitations.

For example the bourbon color online doesn’t give me confidence that what I want is what is represented

see these two images. Ones copper-y and bright. The other is brown.

I want the bright coppery one

Same with interior.

I worried that the configurator doesn’t quite capture the colors, right

I’m just hopeful that whatever ends up getting shipped is going to be fine which I’m sure it will

note the leather wrapped – versus the carbon dash for the 620 S I really like the leather wrapped. I’ve never been a big fan of the carbon look.

I am interested in how the SMITH gauges would look versus the standard gauges. Hopefully we can get that mocked tomorrow.

And I’m opting for the Moto-lita street if wheel.

I went to Great lengths to get one of these fitted to my Stew Lotus Europa and it was like the crowning jewel of the car after a two year long restoration. I’m hoping to capture that same thing here

You're right to be suspicious of the configurator colors. I had my order in, we were trying to match a pin stripe to the roll bar color I was painting, and on the configurator it was a good match but in reality it was WAY off. They sent me some photos comparing the rollbar to the stripe and it was completely different.

I was advised that most of Caterham's colors are Porsche colors, and to go look at the Porsche color picker (like here) to get a better on-screen idea of the colors.
