Stock Birkin wheel, not sure what brand it is, but I think it's 300mm and uses the Momo bolt pattern and horn button.

This is the wheel that came with the car. It is a suede 260mm Racetech

I just changed to this Momo 260mm wheel to give me a little more room for my knees.

And here's the wheel that came with the car originally, a 'Mountney GT' approx 12" diameter. I'm be happy to part with it if anyone's interested.

  • 2 weeks later...

well, I went with a Spa wheel off ebay. It's not D shaped, and a 270MM wheel.

At the moment, the wheels and gauge display are the only parts of the car in my posession.

Mazda:

What's the skinny on the display?:D

:D :d :D :d :D

There is a thread in page 2 of the Tech section called "easy additional gauges"

The unit I chose is called DashDaq. IF they offer a high speed interface for your particular PCM (they do a bunch of aftermarket and OEM ones), it is very nice.

I shot this video to compare the responsiveness of their gauge compared to OEM vette gauges.

It can do data acquisition (directly to a SD card or USB thumb drive). It will eventually also have GPS. You can also connect USB accelerometers, temp sensors, etc... to it. In its standard config, only a single wire hookup.

Looks good! Zoom! Zoom! :jester:

BTW: Do you have to drill a big hole in the center to mount to the Toyota spindle? :D

Rob

Well, I'll be getting rid of the flexible spring steering doohickie, so the whole thing will be new.

Mazda:

Are you keeping the MobileVu display in the dash?

As of this moment, no... but I'll keep that thing around. It will come in handy. The freaking thing is so bright, it has got to be useful somewhere.

I figure between the laptop (with power supply), wiring, and the mobileVu, that stuff probably weighs 15-20 lbs. The DashDaq weighs less than a pound. I'm gonna try it and see if I can live with it. Otherwise the MobileVu will go back in.

All this ragging on my porker by Busa has gone to my head :D
