sparecr Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Sort of died off here, I am assuming since we have 10 who say they will be there realistically we will have 5-6 cars right? Just trying to figure out if we want the tent or not.
EburgE Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I'm thinking it's more realistic to get a dozen Elises and a dozen Sevens. Count me in #11, with Seven. (Baring an act of God that rids the Seven un-drivable.)
Al N. Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 John- I think there is plenty of time for people to sign up. I think Mike D. had chimed in over on the Se7ens.net list that he would come. And probs Scott L. if he's around. I don't know when the deadline for ordering a tent is, but perhaps we just take the plunge and then split the costs among the attendees and the club? Just a thought. Again, I still think there is plenty of time. I personally don't look too far past 2 months ahead when scheduling things on my own calendar.. -Al
pugg57 Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 All, As "the Bishop" pointed out, a few of us on the LotusTalk forum are trying to get a group together for this too. At the moment, I'm not sure if there's more than 10 people, mostly only able to go on Saturday. I'm guessing most poeple would be fine with in just combining all of the Lotus owners we can get together for the event, surely between the two groups we can pull 25 cars, and get everyone to register under one group name. I know I'd like to. Would you guys be interested at all? The thought has been brought up on LotusTalk already too, but just recently, so no real opinions just yet. I will gladly pass on any details that ya'll would like me to. ~Rich
Al N. Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 Rich- My only hesitation is that the USA7s Club represents the wide world of Se7ens, regardless of marque. While the Elise and the Se7en have a lot in common, if the tent is going to be semi-sponsored by USA7s — with the intent of sharing the Se7en with newbies/future owners — then I think we should try and make it exclusively Se7ens. Just my POV, however Se However, I'll run the idea by the other Club officers again. As I mentioned in an earlier post, there is still plenty of time before Carlisle. If any USA7s clubbers have thoughts, please chime in. ---- On another note, I have thought it would be fun to get together with Elises, Atoms, and Furys in a "Charge of the Light Brigade" type of themed meet. Let me know what you think. -Al Navarro USA7s Club Secretary
pugg57 Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 augh... in my exuberance, i didn't think about the "multiple marques" part of this. its still a thought though. the "Charge of the Light Brigade" sounds like it could be a fun event! I'll have to hang around here a bit and see if anything else comes of it... although, with a name like that, i'll want a T-shirt
EburgE Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I think that we can honorably represent the USA7s brigade by partitioning the tent. Keep all the Sevens on one side, all the Loti on the other, and use banners, streamers, signs, spotlights, music, magicians, donkeys, etc. to segregate marques. Ask yourself, what would Colin Chapman do? One tent is definately much lighter than too. (But if the team decides to make it a Seven only tent, I will be glad to divide the tent price by the number who show on Saturday.) :7head:
sparecr Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I was just wondering as the tent deadline is nearing. We will get one reserved and work things from there. Hope to see all Lotus persons there. And man last time I type elisetalk.com it came up elisetalk, maybe I should go over there once and a while. Esp since that is where I found my Caterham.......
southwind25 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 questions: We have never been to carlisle before, but over the years have heard it's a great show. It's about 5 hr's away from us as the 7 flies, we are curious, is there tent camping on site? is their a place to clean up a bit? if we do this we suspect we will have to do it on a budget. Do they have RV camping on site? thats another option for us. oh..also..is the show fun?..since our history is racing events, in the past we have found ourselves bored silly at car shows.. whats it like?
slngsht Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I don't recall seeing any camping on-site. the actual site is a fairgrounds. But I'm sure there is camp sites nearby.
Al N. Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 I went for the first time last year and found it slightly overwhelming. Great to meet the other Se7eners though...
S1Steve Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Southwind, I would get on the Web site to find out about were to camp. I have been going to this event for many years, and always found it to be a great time, except when it rains. It's more than a car show, they have a nice swap meet and lots of vendors selling just about anything for a English car, and other makes. Go and enjoy it, I think you'll be happy you went !!! See you there !!!! Steve Novelli
Jon W. Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Re: camping http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/import/gate.asp Camping: Camping is available. Call (717)243-7855 for a fee schedule and to pre-register. I don't remember seeing campers, but then I didn't cover every area of the grounds.
southwind25 Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Ok, count us in at a 90% possibility of showing up. If Mary's work schedule interferes it might only be one of us. :toetap: Looks like we will probably do this the old fun way, strap a tent and couple sleeping bags between the rollbars ,change of clothes and a toothbrush. Hope it doesnt rain. if the forcast is for rain, we might tow it in and rv it. hey,,why no beauty contest for this show?:toetap: guess the cars will be the beauties eh?
11Budlite Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 "Ok, count us in at a 90% possibility of showing up." - Hope you both can make it. Nancy and I will definitely be there on Saturday, and it'd be good to have another Birkin there!! Bruce :7drive:

Nothing compares to the gawks you get driving into a spot and extracting a campsite from the boot of a Seven.
Al N. Posted January 24, 2008 Author Posted January 24, 2008 The first time I met Steve T, he camped out at Shenandoah...with his Seven .
ottocycle Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Hello all, I would like to be there on Saturday. I will confirm closer to the date. It will be nice to meet everyone in person. Cheers, Dermot. Modified Fury/ Hayabusa.
Mandurath Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 My folks used to be stationed there, and for those that have never been to a Carlisle event, its quite an experience. Kinda like thinking you can take in all of disney in 5 days.
Kitcat Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 I read somewhere that if you walked around to see every exhibit it would be 32 miles.
