Gentlemen: Start your odometers

...ok, fine I'll bite.

Just uncovered from (Nov20-March30) 100" of record snow fall in that period, but.. we've recently had some +30F and salt free time. They ran out of salt back in January, which means lots of sand and sliding, but virtually no salt left in the pavement!

So, yes, I've got my 1st 250miles clocked away for '08 in the past couple weeks.

And that makes... 72,500 miles in 9 years. And that's all without a snowplow on it :-)

The odometer shows 68,500, since it's the 3rd speedo, but hey, a few k miles more or less makes no difference.

As far as tires, it does eat them - I'm on set #4 now (the best sofar have been the Yokohama's, the worst the Bridgestones)

no-one warned us, but then, would we have listened?

Se7eners generally don't listen well to warnings anyway, like the warning about the $'s and time, the ridiculous explanations to the roadpatrol as to why you did what you did... it just goes on...

But, no-one can truly explain to a non-se7ener how much fun this continues to be

I added another 50 today. But it was an important 50...

My car has passed NY State Inspection!

So, one step closer to it finally being properly registered. With a bit of luck, a stop in at the DMV tomorrow will sort it for good and I'll be able blatting with impunity. :hurray:

It was grueling process for me. Just keep knocking and you'll get there.

I know. I've had it registered in two other states, so am used to the anxiety. What makes this one frustrating is that it's turned into a fiasco mostly because the DMV screwed up when I first attempted to register it last summer, and then subsequently had two different groups telling me different things in order to try to recover.

But, I think I'm in the home stretch. :)

Virginia has a provision to title your car as a replica car. I tried to title my seven this way. I presented many photos of original sevens, and he still titled my seven a as a specialized construction which requires an emission inspection.

and so it goes...we used the heck out of her this weekend..even got it all dirty in the rain! GASP!

We also were reminded why we have always built-rebuilt cars on our own in the past..

After some 200 miles around ne-ohio we dug into some uncomfortable sounds and found the alternator hanging by it's belt..the owner-builder had used some grade -0 bolts and the atlenator bracket had broke off on the block. that was a fun fix...but it doesnt stop there, the engine mount had come off the engine for the same reason. YIKES! The bolts had snapped. :banghead:

and we are going to have to take the tunnel off, we believe the tail seal is blown in the tranny..

well at least we should get these bugs worked out now before summer really starts.

I don't know, after my little near disaster Wed. night I may never go out again. I came around a corner a little too fast and nearly t-boned a Mini. Squealing tires, steering wheel turned as far to the right as it could, and stopped about 4" from the drivers door. I could hear the driver say "WOW!" and he drove off. I about s*#t my pants. But the Se7en is safe. I was VERY lucky. I got to get some softer tires. Russ

I spent the morning changing over from the slicks, to the street tires and road legal rear wings, and just got back from a nice ninety minute blat. Beautiful day, but not one other good car on the road. Where is everyone?

Going from the slicks to the Avon CR500's is a huge difference. Russ, it just ain't worth it driving hard on the streets. These cars are just too capable. To get any sensation of the limit your going Waaaay too fast for the street,IMHO.

I do so love the sound of going thru all six gears though. Autoxing I only get to shift into second, although I do get to rev it to 8000 rpm.

I think I'm going to go back out and do my part to use up all those bogus carbon credits the prius drivers think they are saving. :bs:

Have a safe Memorial day everyone. :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: Tom

Well, first of all a brief celebration:

After a 9 month ordeal my car is now, FINALLY, fully legally registered in NY as of Thursday!

Appropriately, I broke 10,000 miles yesterday after driving up to The Glen on Friday and then over to Ithaca, and back yesterday afternoon.

Yay!

Completed my first year of ownership last week and racked up 6K miles in that time. Most of that last year. Since resetting the odo this year I have abt 1.5K so far.
