What is the price of the SR27?

Quote Deman USA : "After realizing that at 30K Shiva was buying this car at a 58% discount, we stoped to think that this is to big of a hit to take. We appoloize for what we put Shiva through, but i would like to clear up that we do not take peoples money. "

I would have stopped the deal also at that figure......but 62K+ is going to be a hard sell in todays market and the value of the dollar in the world market.

Am I reading the flow of events here correctly? Car was publicly offered at $32k, counter offer of $30k was made and accepted. Money was sent by buyer and accepted by seller. Seller then performs due diligence on investment and pulls out of deal. Funds are returned to buyer including a little extra to cover buyer's costs incurred by upholding their end of the deal.

We do not intend in selling the car 60k, i still believe that somewhere around the 40-45K area is reasonable.

And yes that is true JohnCH, we returned the funds that we were sent. We never even touched the funds untill the deal would of complete. In returning the funds, the conversion rate against the american dollar was what caused the negative amount to be returned. As i said in the previous post, Jean will be getting his full amount back.

I think that you have a good product and that 40-45K is resonable for a new SR27 ready to drive away and should sell to the correct person once they see your product and the buyer realizes what they are getting for their money.

Stay after it and it will happen.

If you are saying that my flow of events is correct, then I think Shiva is showing incredible restraint. I can assure you that if a vendor had agreed to a deal with me, and then changed their mind because they failed to perform adequate due diligence on their investment until AFTER they accepted my money, I would not go away quietly. I may be old fashioned, but I believe a deal is a deal.

I have to agree with JohnCh here. This is not a reputation winning event for Deman USA by any stretch of the imagination. Commercial manufacturers are not supposed to have sellers regret.

Why are you asking this group for pricing suggestions if you don't even know what it costs to build it?

We are a new company here, we dont have millions to spend. We thought by taking a loss on the first couple of cars just to get the cars out on the road and get the name out. We did not want this to happen, but what would you do if youi realized that you were losing over 30K on a deal, we did and im sure half of you would do the same. Yes, it is not the right way to do business for a new company and we see that, but sometimes things happen and you have to make a wise choice.

I don’t mean to be condescending, but I expect any company – new or in business for 30 years – to know their costs BEFORE agreeing to sell their product to someone. The fact that you didn’t and are using this as your reasoning for reneging on a deal, isn’t going to give people confidence in your ability to run a business and be there for them down the road.

As for the your statement that half of us would do the same, I sincerely hope not. And if you wonder why I am so vocal on this subject, it's very simple. I care a great deal about this site and the community it has helped create. I want to see the market for se7ens expand in this country and I want to see the vendors who support our hobby prosper. The fact that you have used this site to advertise your product, and then do this to one of its members...

So, given the above scenario, why would anyone attempt to buy one from you in the future?

And what is your business plan if, as seems to be the case, the market will only pay you 1/2 of what you need to make a fair profit?

Very true.

Agreed. In this case however, I do not feel a wise decision was made.

I'm of the opinion a deal is a deal, and in this situation, with terms being agreed to and consideration being paid, I believe shiva has legal rights, should he desire to excercise them.

All, I'm meeting with the other club officers either tonight or tomorrow morning to review what's happened, and decide what actions to take. I will lock the thread until after that meeting, and reopen at that time.

All, I discussed this situation with the other club officers (Al N and John V), and our decision is to suspend the Deman USA account for 120 days.

We are in no position to tell anyone what to charge and how to treat their customers, but we do have control over how this club property is used, and will step in if we feel anyone's conduct does not meet common sense standards. "We" in this case refers to club officers, and the officers heard your feedback loud and clear.

Since Deman USA will not be able to post on this forum in the short term, I will keep this thread locked. If Jean (Shiva) wishes to make a comment after all the dust is settled and things are cleared up, I will open the thread for that purpose only.

Please do not start any threads to discuss or bash Deman USA, as they will not be able to respond. Feel free to send me or anyone else comments via PM.
