DBs seven
Autopro have been busy doing some upgrades on the Westy. The upgrades are completed and the car is ready for a new owner. This is the second Mazda Sport to enter the USA and also the car that prompted Jonny Lieberman from www.Jalopnik.com to state that a Lotus Elise now feels like a "fat sloppy pig" and this very Westfield was "the car he would take home" . This very car was also the most popular "7" type car at the Carlisle show. This was also the Westfield USA display car. Upgrades include powder coated chassis and suspension, race seats on slide mounts, 5 point 3 inch harnesses, removable steering wheel, quick steering rack, nylon suspension bushings , heated windshield, long range fuel tank, Westfield shift knob, trunk tonneau cover and removable rear fenders , Just added - *** New Kosei 15" wheels and tires, side screens and Westfield RAC approved roll bar*** The following new parts fitted to the Miata donor components include - Slotted and cross drilled brake rotors, new brake pads, water pump, timing belt and tensioner, plug wires, spark plugs, front and rear crank seals, transmission input and output seals, clutch, clutch slave cylinder, shift lever seal, valve cover gasket, synthetic fluids, thermostat, oxygen sensor, exhaust header gaskets and all filters. All donor components were painted/reconditioned and look better than new. A North Carolina title will be supplied to the new owner of this fantastic car. Please read the articles in our news section to see what the press had to say about the car. You will find many pictures from the build on our website. The mileage is currently 1750 but this may alter slightly . $23,750.00 FAQ'S Q - Are stone guards available for the rear fenders ? A - Yes and are available from Westfield in either aluminum or Carbox effect. Front cycle wings are also available in the same finish. The car currently has "clear bra" protective material on all impact areas to avoid any chips. Q - where is the car made ? A - England of course and have been for 26 years. We also make warm beer and fish and chips !!!!!! Kitcat
Beautiful Seven! What is the approximate weight? What Miata engine does it have and what is the estimated horsepower?
Spaz
What year rear end is in the car? What type of LSD if any does it have?

DBs seven
GUYS !!!! Thanks for all of the compliments. The exact weight of the car as shown, with screens fitted is 1341 lbs. Weight distribution is 49.5% to the rear with a perfect 50% cross with 220 lbs in drivers seat. I just set it up last week. The motor is a stock 1.6 running without a Catalyst and with a free flowing intake system. Stock hp is about 120 so I imagine about 125 but I have not had it on a rolling road. This motor is known for being a screamer though. The rear end is from a 92 and is not LSD. - Non torsen LSD's are not that reliable and also can create some "push". The torsens are very reliable but behave much like an open diff until things get really bad. I can tell you that the car will put 2 x black streaks down (tried on old tires) and seems to have no problem in keeping power to both wheels on the track, the light weight helps this. FYI - Lotus advise against fitting a LSD to the elise due to "push" problems. I have access to Mazdaspeed rebuilt diffs if any buyer wanted to upgrade, cost would be $980.00 and free installation. The parts cost of $980.00 is open to all members, not just the new owner of this car. I think the price is good too. The upgrades were not cheap due to the exchange rate and the fact that they are genuine Westfield parts. The whole car is now for sale at less than the parts only cost to build this car. Ian7
Very nice car. I've only ever seen one 7-type-car with a Miata engine in it. It was a mid-90's model, a South-African make called an RM8. It had maybe an inch and a half of clearance between the sump and the street. How does this car compare? cheers, Ian
DBs seven
Sorry for the late reply to this one. Wow, that clearance was asking for trouble. The oil pan is a low point on the car but I checked and we have at least 3 inches with driver in car. I have been over regular speed bumps without a problem. Ian7
The sump on my x-flow is the lowest point, and it is about, what 18" behind the front tire centerline. What usually happens for me on speed bumps is that front tires go up, over, and down, then the sump skims (or worse) the speed bump. For speed bumps I can't get around, or over "creatively", I carry two pieces of 2x6 about 3' long in the boot, put them on the far side of the speed bump in line with the front tires. Keeps the front end higher while the sump clears the speed bump. Gives onlookers a laugh, but has saved me a couple of "take the long way around" side trips already. It has 2.5" clearance under the sump with the factory 205/45-16 tires. The last time I was under it I found some fresh scratches on the leading edge of the sump. I do not recall feeling any bottoming on any speed bumps so it must have just grazed one. I take speed bumps very slowly every time. I like Ian7s idea about carrying a couple of boards along for the bad ones. Skip
slomove
Sissies.....get a sturdy sump guard. No problem with speed bumps or rocks, just slide over or crunch them This is mine after 3 years of careless use.... http://www.usa7s.net/ASPNETFORUM/upload/1211780321_SumpGuard3Years.jpg

Hyper
Congrats!!! This is one I looked long and hard at, until the economy tanked. Now I'm thinking I'll have to wait another year to get a seven (until the economy improve or I have enough savings).

Besides, where am I going to drive a seven in a Michigan winter?
Ian7
Besides, where am I going to drive a seven in a Michigan winter? what, they don't plow there ?
11Budlite
If you set your front license plate at the correct height and the correct angle, you can do your own plowing! Bruce :7drive: PS: Congrats on the sale. That was/is a beautiful car and I was surprised it didn't sell quicker!
