Mike Rohaley
MoPho, I read the information that came with the photos and you are absolutely correct. It allows for any personal use but requests credit when used in commercial work. I only quickly read it originally and assumed they were mine to do with as I pleased, so I learned something new today. Therefore proper credit for the top photo (on road) belongs to Powerhead Productions at www.killboy.com and the bottom photo(odd angle shot) is credited to www.zeefoto.com. Thanks for the information, I wouldn't want to unknowingly screw them over on proper credit.
Mike Rohaley
I will be contacting both Killboy.com and Zeefoto.com requesting permission and post back when (and if) I get proper approval.
MoPho
Thanks for coming to my defense Gert, Sean, Mazda, but now I can't post the nasty gram I was typing up :jester: While Joe the plumber might not care if his photo is used in a calendar, Sally the photographer will. I once caught a company using my photo illegally and I got quite a bit of money (thousands) for it. I was looking out for ya's And FTR, I don't have an internet business, and I am not the photographer who sits on the side of some road trying to sell prints back to private owners, I shoot for commercial clients and car magazines. My website is my portfolio and I post it in my signature more to share what I do with my friends than to try and get business, if that happens to land me a new client, all the better
Jeff7
As I read it, MoPho's post advised to double-check what was actually purchased, and then stated a relevant fact. Your reply reads as an unnecessarily forceful response to me. Also, I recall reading somewhere that unless otherwise specified, the rights to a photographic image generally belong to the creator of the image, not the owner of the object being photographed. But hey, you were right about the Paris fashion shoot part! Drama Drama drama lol! dear me. I think you are all being a little sensitive, well you know.. American. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/855510323_7 & CV.jpg

slngsht
alright, everyone has stated their position. facts are facts, the rest are... All Martin needs is permission from the person who took the photo. If the photo is yours, then grant it and be done. If not, ask the person who took it. Pretty simple. Otherwise, say you don't feel like asking the photographer, and it'll be excluded.

Totally agree. Steve has several really nice pics. The yellow one, the one at Skyline that used to be the forum banner, one at Snowshoe of just the emblem with frost melting off it. slomove
The picture of the folded bonnet is my own artwork and free to use by everybody in the world for whatever legal purpose but I understand it may be of limited interest for the calendar....... I did check with Mitch Leben who took the Monument Valley picture and he wrote me that he would be absolutely O.K. using it for the calendar if selected (he would even buy one). However, if you should choose it I can mail you a higher resolution jpg file. Gert

BusaNostra
One reason I did not participated in showing my seven. I know one or two members will make it a very big deal...of nothing. Yours & my clone 7 is a kit car man! Worse enough, this site was too limited, resticted & no fun at all. We are here to have fun not to wrestle with stupid legal stuff. Why baited everyone to publish their 7 pictures then tell everyone after, there are legal zhyte ? Where is the fun & peace of mind?:cuss:

JohnCh
To all who have posted a photo of your favorite 7 photo please let me know if you own the rights to the photo so that USA7s.org can use the photo for a calendar. I am willing to put a calendar together for USA7s.org but need to insure that the photos There was another thread earlier this year (Best Seven picture ever?) that contains a lot of great photos. Some of those are definitely worthy of consideration for a club calendar. -John
slngsht
I was gonna post a pic of my car, but every one of them I found shows the car in some state of disassembly :banghead:
DB6
any more comments on the permission subject in this or other threads will get deleted. Do it a couple of times and earn a suspension. We are not going to knowingly ignore ownership rights of media owners. END OF STORY. Please... Do not castrate me or others that do not follow your or your club friends ideals ..(and at the risk of being "suspended") I have to say the following : 1)This was just a group of fave pic of members, not a calender to be put out for sale or profit and if there was an issue with copyright point it out before ppl post.Don't threaten with suspension after the fact. Ever think why this car was chosen for the Prisoner ? I am sorry but I think this is too much "Police" . Mr Slingshot I do not know if you own or run this site ,(its great by the way, members do that you know), but some temperance and liberalism please. It is the members and drivers of these cars that make this groupshine and argument or disagrement is healthy. Why would you threaten free speach in a group of people that are free spirits and love 7,s. By the way, ever notice how angry some members got on here since Obama got in , little cryptic messages etc? ( I am not political at all on here but look at many of the messages, partic from mo fo and his posse, woops that includes you right. Nobody was rude or agressive or nasty or used cuss words or slandered,;damn for the internet it was a walk in the woods in springtime, it was just open discussion , please do not stop that with threats that their points of view may cause expulsion. By the way, with regard to the "legality of pics and copyright" what is the deal if someone takes a pic of my car.. it happens all the time, what if any one sees a car or building or whatever they are looking at through the lens... they take a picture.. think about it : everything we see belongs to somebody, but most of us share ; this argument was started by a pro photographer... I understand him looking out for himself, I really do, but come on. By the way how can a member set their own password ,is that possible at all or is it only the one that is issued, does that mean that admin can access all of a member's account at will? ? Thanks. Hope this post will not be censored too.
