breezy7
The track day event is at Barber. Friday May 28th is a trip to Talladega that includes laps on the speedway and tour of the musuem. The LOG 29 site has the registrarion forms available for those interested.

Good news is I booked a room at the Wynfrey today. And I am working on my things to bring list!! Steve
sparecr
to clear up track day stuff Talledega is museum, lunch and a few at speed laps of the track (at speed means a speed that will hold your car on the 40 degree banking, not 200 mph) this is the plan, subject to change the AutoX will be held at the Birmingham Racecourse AutoX track/parking lot I am not sure if it will be the long or short course. The driver's ed/car control including wet/dry skidpad will at on Barber's skidpad The LOG29 track day is on Monday at barber Motorsports Park NASA is renting the track Saturday and Sunday, if you are a NASA racer and meet their rules I believe you may enter your car there. There will be a few historic classes and a feature Lotus race, what that means I am unsure, I only work here. NASA is also rumored to be renting the track on Friday. This would be an open session, couple of hundred bucks and you would be able to run all day. Again subject to NASA rules and regulations. Friday is not set yet. I will update as contracts get signed. eVox
eek at the prices...they start to add up quickly for the LOG stuff. Does anyone care to adopt a college student for the weekend? :yesnod: Im looking forward to seeing the usa7s event list.
DeanG
eek at the prices...they start to add up quickly for the LOG stuff. Does anyone care to adopt a college student for the weekend? :yesnod: The only prices that I find grating are those for the hotel meals. We are signing up for everything but the driving portion of the track day. This will be our big vacation of the year so we splurge. If anyone wants to economize consider: * Packing a lunch for the Saturday concourse and Monday track day * Not interested in Mercedes Benz, Talladega..., skip those parts * Scout out a breakfast place that is close by but doesn't charge hotel prices (there are usually a bunch of people trying to do that however the hotel restaurant is a good place to button hole some of the Lotus factory people or special guests) * Skip the alluring trinkets * Find an alternate hotel (with so many of the activities planned for the Barber Motorsport Park options are probably available) * Share a room (It isn't uncommon) this site and LotusTalk would be good places to set this up. Don't miss: * If you autocross (or want to start) there is no better place to see similar cars run and talk to people genuinely interested in helping you out with tips... * Interested in driving? The car control clinic's price can't be beat. * Barber museum, included in registration fee * The Saturday evening dinner (admittedly some people find it boring). That is where the celebrities speak and the big news and subtle hints are usually dropped (link the supercharged Evora). Don't forget to bring things to be autographed. At past LOGs I had books signed by the author and by the subjects (e.g., Dan Gurney).
yellowss7
Dean, I have a question. My cousin is going to make the trip with me. He's family but not immediate family as defined. If he's not going to participate in the driving events does he still have to have a Lotus membership? I assume that he will have to pay the $75 fee as opposed to the $25 family one. Is that a safe assumption? Tom

powderbrake
I would appreciate a schedule of the USA7s planned activities for the time period. I would like to register for LOG 29, but don't want to commit to some of the stuff if it means missing out on a USA7s sponsored activity.
sparecr
At this time I am trying to work out a few things to reduce USA7 member expenses. NO guarentee. At this point I would make my hotel reservation, but not send in the LOG form yet. Al, Mazda and I are working out schedules, sponsers, etc. We hope to have some things firmed up within the next week. Any hotel reservations should be able to modified or cancelled (confirm when registering) in case we change something. There will not be a discount beyond the rate set for LOG ($119 I think). group code 1AW4RX but I think they know LOG by now.
