DeanG
Unfortunately not many details concerning LOG have been posted. Besides the already announced Friday night reception, Saturday's formal banquet and Sunday's less formal banquet, people's choice car show, judged car show, auto-x, scenic drives, gimmick rally and the arts & crafts exhibit. I know of the following. Satch Carlson longtime Lotus lover and comic car writer will be the Saturday evening speaker. Bob Dance, long time Team Lotus mechanic and Ken Szymanski Lotus F1 tire change (his is an amazing story http://www.nytimes.com/1987/06/15/sports/auto-racing-east-side-resident-helps-lotus-team.html) should be there. The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum will have a presence although I don't know exactly what will be exhibiting. Lotus Cars USA will be there. The Lotus factory seems to be cooking up something. They have given hints but have not said anything firm as yet. I'm hoping that they will bring the Evora GT4 and the T127 but that is just my wishful thinking and not anything more that that. I believe there will be technical sessions for the very early cars (e.g., MK6, XI...) Elans, and the Elise/Exige. I think I heard of a detailing session but I may be wrong. I was getting desert when this was covered. There is likely to be some authors doing book signings. Actually it seems like the place will be crawling with various editors, authors and publishers. There will be a car wash area and informal slot car racing. A few specialty vendors will be there as well as having a low key swap meet. A confirmation letter will be sent to all registrants. A lot of people will be showing up on Thursday including 20 or so LOG volunteers.
DeanG
The LOG30 T-shirt graphics have been finalized. Note the presence of a 7 series 4. We have ordered a few long sleeve versions to ward off the sun and sand when driving. Edited August 29, 2010 by DeanG
xflow7
Dean, Thanks for the additional info. Is the concours on Saturday? Dave
DeanG
The car show and main banquet are Saturday. Some of the minor events are still being moved about. I need to mention that the car show is being held at Boyd's Bears http://www.boydsbearsonline.com/items/list.htm just across the street from the hotel. This makes it very easy to snag a gift for your significant other, children, grand children... Because Boyd's Bears is large, with heating and air conditioning and has a few places to buy food (e.g., ice cream shop) I expect my wife will spend some quality time in there during the car show. Since it is so close to the hotel it will be easy to bail out or return to the hotel to steal another towel to assist in detailing. Actually the last time I was there the hotel provided detailing towels. This is in addition to the car wash area at the hotel that is being handled by the LOG committee. DeanG
Get your LOG Preregistration done and in the mail! Two reasons to do it now: "Preregistration must be postmarked by September 1, 2010" Normal registration is an additional $25. Apparel "Orders received after Sept. 1 will be mailed after LOG, subject to S&H of $8 for 1st item, $5 each add’l item" So it will cost you more and you won't have that snazzy shirt or fleece to wear at LOG. DeanG
There are now 190 rooms reserved for LOG attendees at the Eisenhower Inn & Conference Center. http://www.eisenhower.com/ On google maps http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=39.764817,-77.267307&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=47.483365,79.013672&ie=UTF8&ll=39.764985,-77.267672&spn=0.002833,0.004823&t=h&z=18 zoom out a bit and you will see the sites of the hotel, trailer parking (marked) auto-cross and car show site (Boyd's Bears across Emmitsburg rd)
sparecr
Dean, I did not see a place on my registation for the t-shirt. I did order the polo and fleece. Will I be able to order the t-shirt on site. Oh and it looks like Barber's will be bringing a 30. I think we should have brought the Mk IV because then I could get my 7 in the trailer also. DeanG
You can change your registration including ordering shirts... at the registration table. The hard working Cora (who I believe owned a 7, and a Type 14) will fix you, or anyone else up. The first two lines of the Official LOG 30 Apparel are T-Shirt long sleeve ($15 ea) XXL ($17 ea) T-Shirt short sleeve ($14 ea) XXL ($15 ea) It will be good to see you and the BVMM Type 30 again. DeanG
The latest counts for LOG30 have 200+ registrants for 360+ people in attendance. This matches nicely with the 200+ LOG related room reservations at the hotel. LOG is a different experience. As you drive around you see other Lotus cars driving about and parked at the local restaurants and shops. Someone mentions that they heard about a good BBQ, ice cream, road, interesting auto shop and etc. suddenly a dozen Lotus leave in a group to check it out. You hear yourself and others saying "I never saw one of those before." If you have mechanical difficulties someone has the part you need, another has the tools you need and someone else has fixed the same thing and can tell you how to do the job and avoid potential pitfalls. There will be an argument about a historical point concerning Lotus or racing and (except for the question of the origin of the Lotus name) someone who was there, built the part or raced the race will chime in. You owe it to yourself to attend.

DeanG
Registration reports 178 cars listed as coming to LOG. Possibly the largest gathering of Lotus & Se7ens in the western hemisphere.
DeanG
Today I received a letter confirming my LOG registration. It details the options I chose (e.g., events, food, merchandise) has a schedule of events and directions. Everyone who preregistered should have received a confirmation letter or should be receiving one shortly.
Kitcat
Dean: I got my confirmation letter too. The schedule of events, and the LOG website, list a bunch of tech sessions, early Saturday, but no details. Is there any way of knowing ahead of time what the various topics will be at the different sessions? Also, I see there are still spots available for the trackday-Come on Se7en owners, here's the prefect chance to open up your car, and take its measure. Kitcat
Just noticed that the weather report for Gettysburg for Friday 10/8-Monday 10/11 is zero (0) percent chance of rain, all 4 days. Lows in the mid 40's, high in the upper 60's, and sunny. Of course , weather predictions are like stock market predictions, but it is an encouraging sign. Especially for those of us who wld prefer to leave the rain tires off and the top and doors at home.
DeanG
About 20 people are already working away on setup. Three Lotus Seven's in attendance already. Two trailered and Bill B. who drove from upstate NY.
Ruadhd2
This is a random gallery of cars I thought were pretty at the show today. If you see yourself, your car, or your loved one and don't want the picture in the gallery, let me know and I'll remove it. Most of the shots were taken at the concourse. Lots of original S2's and modern Caterhams. Not that many variants. No Rotuses. One Birkiin. I didn't see a Stalker, Atom, Superlite, or a Westfield, but that could have been just me. The wild lime green Exige was for sale for asking price $65,000. It had 581 miles on it and belonged to Jerry Seinfeld who traded it for a 1958 Porsche Jagdwagen. http://picasaweb.google.com/drsms22/LOG30# By the way. I didn't register or meet and greet. I only had a couple of hours to look at cars and then go to a funeral of a good friend in Charlottesville, VA. later in the day. I had a choice of going to LOG30 or a funeral and decided to do both. MichaelD
Lots of fun this morning at the autocross. Norm Beaver organinized a great course on a tiny lot with lots ofngravel. The event and it went off without a hitch. Fun was had by all. We even had spectators who applauded each driver as they passed by. My thanks to all for an enjoyable evening at the banquet and the autocross.
