KiwiBirkin
It was a lovley day here in Christchurch on Friday a warm light norwest wind 22deg and we decided to head to a village called Tia Tapu for lunch via the Port Hills summit road, Marg took a video from just after the Sign of the Kiwi to the end of Gebbies Pass, it wasnt a fast trip as in places there are some nasty drops offs but the roads a lot of fun even though it is quite bumpy. If you hit the HQ bit on the bottom of the screen is should be in even better quaility video is 10 mins long if you manage to watch it all Edited October 4, 2009 by KiwiBirkin
MHKflyer52
Hello KiwiBirkin, Have to ask what the traffic sign that is an Exclamation Point (!) mean as I do not ever recall seeing one of those before. It is at the 2:30 point in the video. Also you need to remind all of us in the USA that 22degrees is in Celsius and not Fahrenheit as a lot of us here in the USA would be snug in our homes if it was 22 degrees F outside and most likely not on a Blat.......:driving:
KiwiBirkin
It was a caution sign to tell people that they are coming to part of the road with big drop off down on the left hand side for about 1km and you will notice that i take it quite slow down there because there was also still a lot of grit on the roads from the winter season as it ices up quite bad up there and also the road is in pretty bad condition on that part of the drive. I must remember to convert deg to celsius next time

Croc
Hi Kiwi Thanks for the video. It brings back nice memories of exploring Christchurch and it surrounds many years back. You have a nicer car to do that in than I did 17-18 years ago! Cheers

KiwiBirkin
Worst thing about that road is you need to watch out for cyclist who use the Summit road around Christchurch a lot and are all ways cutting corners and if a Sevens cutting corners also disaster . We do however have over 200 miles of road like that all the top of what is a inactive volcano called Banks Penisula http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Kaiapoi&ll=-43.719009,172.97287&spn=0.384607,0.891953&t=h&z=11 Edited October 10, 2009 by KiwiBirkin
