scannon
Probably master shut off valves for the plumbing. F & P may be the Portuguese equivalent of H & C.

Croc
I heard Ron White talk about the thing on the lower right, Haven't tried it yet, Kind of afraid I might like it too much..... Well you know that it is used as a water bowl for arthritic dogs who cannot lower their heads to get to a water bowl on the floor. At least mine did this in a former house.... Or if you have a red neck as a former g/f, who used it to clean shoes, hand wash delicate undies, etc......until I found out (and started pissing myself laughing). Be brave.....and post the pics later!
7evin
I see how you are Bruce.... Fun at my possable expense... Mike ... That is hilarious..... Did you ever tell her ? It sure would have been funny to have some pics of that... Skip... You are dead on.... The Q valve stays hot to the touch all the time. They must circulate the hot water through the building all the time. Thanks for the tip...
7evin
Next weird thing to figure out.... The trucks down here have this strange tube going to the center of the hubs....
scannon
My last encounter with one of those strange basins was in a Pension in Rome where I filled it with ice to cool a bottle of wine. I saw something similar to those tubes on the truck wheels during my marathon trip to Roanoke a couple of weeks ago. They appeared to be keeping the outer hub from spinning with the wheel and tire although these with the levers on them make me wonder if they are how they actuate the brakes. Can you get some closeups of the hubs and where the tubes attach to the truck body?
CrazyCanuck
I noticed those too when I was in SP, it's a tire pressure monitoring system.
7evin
I haven't caught one yet that I can get to that is sitting still. Here is a pick I snapped going down the road. Looks like Crazy may be right.... I'm sure this is much better than a transducer...... I'm sure you would not have to worry about things like o-rings wearing out or breaking one of those lines or fitting leaking...
Off Road SHO
Hmmm, I don't know if that's just a monitoring system or also an inflation system also. I'm wondering if other countries might have a higher road tax for truck tires that have more pounds per square inch on the ground. Also notice how centrifugal force puts a bow in the wires/tube from the center section to the valve stem. Tom

7evin
A taxi cab driver told me today that it is an alternate braking system for the mountians. I´m not sure I´m buying that..... I hope get an upclose look at one before I have to leave tomorrow...

Not only does it monitor pressure it can adjust pressure on the fly. The truck I saw even did the spares. Why such an elaborate system I do not know... The guy did not speak any laugauge that I do so it was mostly hand jesters.

7evin
Ok..... Last question, for years I have been trying to figure out why in gods name the European luggage carts and shopping carts have casters on all 4 corners. This is the most retarded cart on the entire planet.... It is a nightmare to push on flat ground let alone if there is a slope. I have asked engineers from the UK, other travelers, and airport personnel and have googled it to death. No one knows, they all agree that it is a retarded way to do it and hate it. I tell them in the US we only put the caster wheels on the front.... They are Wowed.. Now IKEA has brought this nightmare to the USA. If you have never experienced it go to IKEA and test drive one.... YOU will understand! So hit me with a theory? Oh, as a side note I have not seen these in Germany..... I don't think the Germans would tolerate such a device.
DeanG
I think that Lotus did a 5 (or 6) wheel cart design. I never saw it except in pictures. I had pushed (pun there) to get a couple sent to LOG so we could have shopping cart match racing with the headline "Race a Lotus - Free!"
bsimon
Shopping trolleys with four casters are easier to parallel park! :leaving:

Unless they all caster...... then I would call it a lotus Bastard child... I think I would have to add a 7th wheel just to make it feel right....
