Worst Holiday in my life!

I usually look forward to Thanksgiving. It is my favorite holiday of the year we gather with all our family. Aunts, uncles, grand kids, moms and dads usually around 50 of us meet at someones home and cook a huge meal. We visit, eat and visit some more. The guys watch the football games and women talk about women stuff.

This year was very different however. My Grandmother 86 and my youngest aunt 61 were one the way to another aunts house for a birthday party on Wednesday the 25th. They were on a two lane highway when the rear drivers side tire tread seperated causing the vehicle to spin out of control rolling once before taking out a telephone pole. My aunt died at the scene. My grandmother died the next day after 22 units of blood.

If that wasnt bad enough shortly after making funeral arrangements my mother went into sudden cardiac arrest. Her sisters performed cpr until the fire deptarment arrived. They worked my mom for a few minutes and got a pulse back and transported her to the hospital. She stayed in a coma for a day and has been slowly coming out of it. She is up and talking, walking and eating very well she has pretty good long term memory. Her short term memory isnt doing as well. The doctors think with a month or so in rehab she should recover very well.

Thanksgiving will be very different for the next few years, but we are thankful that we didnt have to bury 3 loved ones in one day. We are also very thankful for the hundreds of our friends from our churches and work associates that were there in a blink of an eye to lend a hand.

Loren,

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your aunt and grandmother. Praying for a speedy and full recovery for your mother.

We just lost my mother-in-law unexpectedly in October and it does make the holidays difficult.

It is great that you have such a loving and caring extended family from you church and workplace.

Unbelievable how fast things can change! Condolences to you and your family. What a huge shock. I truly hope your mom's recovery continues to proceed.

My son was in a wreck this summer when his 19 year old friend over corrected and flipped the van they were in. The friend died next to him, his other friend was ejected and suffered a massive brain injury. My son was thankfully unscratched, but is dealing with the emotional fall out of such a traumatic event. Even tho it was 6 months ago, we are all just coming out of the shock now.

Loren, I was in Saint Patrick's Cathedral in NYC today, and I prayed for your family and mine. My Dad had cardiac arrest 9 days ago, and came home on Monday. I hope your Mom is doing better.

Thanks guys for the support. I needed to vent a little. Mom is doing a little better each day.

Steve it is reassuring that your dad pulled thru.

Kitcat thank the Lord your son walked away. I think that would be the worst thing in the world to lose a young son or daughter.
