BruceBowker
Any suggestions on a very low profile battery? Mine is located on the firewall "shelf" and has near zero clearance from the engine cover. Thanks Bruce
yellowss7
Odesssey PC625 works nicely for me. Although I did mount it down low under the intakes. Tom
Hank
^ What Tom said. Never any trouble crankin' the Busa. Course, I make 1/5th the torque of Frankin7. ahahha
pksurveyor
I used a dry absorbed glass mat battery by Extreme from Battery Plus. It is about half the size of the Caterham original battery and cheaper than the Odessey. There is no acid to spill and you can mount it in any position. slngsht
I ran the 625 with my LS1 for a year or two. Cranking over wasn't a problem. Just not much capacity if you leave any accessories on.
jimrankin
There are several absorbed glass mat barreries for jet skis that are small, lots of cranking amps, can be mounted in any position and are fairly cheap and available. have one cranking over an S2000 2.2L without a problem. pierats
I had a generic AGM battery, but it eventually died. I replaced it with the Odyssey PC680. The two batteries are the same dimensions, but the PC680 is probably twice the weight. I took this to mean that there is more capacity (quality?) in the Odyssey than the generic version. The Odyssey was more expensive...I suppose you get what you pay for.
drew...
PC625 under the intake stars the SVT motor with no problems - going on two years.
yellowss7
Whoops, I meant 680 not 625. My bad. Tom

solder_guy
I keep a trickle charger on my PC680 all the time! My first PC680 died after two years .. I guess I let it get too low .. for too long of a time.
Ian7
Assuming you don't need to start the car in cold weather, you don't need much in the way of cranking amps at all. I run my (admittedly low compression) Kent off a lawn tractor battery that is half the size and one third the cost of a 'regular' car battery. I found that an ordinary Schauer 6 Amp charger set on "conventional" fills this bill.
southwind25
I got a used Odyssey from a fellow member (Mike) and it works reasonably well.. (She's birkin though and will discharge after a couple months of sitting.)

HankMauel
I use an Optima battery with side mount terminals (as well as the normal "top posts"). Left the plastic covers on the top posts and the posts clear the aluminum bonnet by about an inch. When not in use I hook up a small Battery Tender unit to charge/monitor the Optima. They may now have a "side post only" model. Edited April 23, 2010 by HankMauel
khamai
The GGLC has a BCI size chart for most standard car batteries. The shortest batteries are a bit under 7" tall. http://gglotus.org/ggtech/battery-bci/battery-bci-size.htm Cheers, Kiyoshi
