Excellent work by Glen!

 

Although Tom, in session two you very nearly had me brown nosing you! Not sure why you stopped so radically on the neck/shoulder of the octopus but you can hear me lock up trying to avoid! :ack:

 

For session 4 I have now worked out how to integrate the front and rear videos with the data. I can actually synchronize and overlay your footage into my videos which is pretty neat. Never done this video editing stuff before but I am enjoying it!

Mike as I came around that corner I saw the Flagger waving a yellow flag and I lifted off, There was some debris on the track from where someone had gone off, so they must have just pulled back on. Yeah I saw how close you got, Sorry. Being that the turn is extremely sharp, I had know Idea what was on the other side. Probably was Kitcat. ;>)

Excellent new avatar Mike:hurray: For those of you who can't make it out. After one of Mike's offs, he came back in with several clover leafs sticking out from between the rim and the tire.

 

Obviously a souvenir from his gardening adventure.

 

Lessons learned, if you want to run on the track with us you have to have a great sense of humor and thick skin as the wit is unrelenting.:jester:

I like the over your shoulder view. Gives a great picture of the track and how you

 

are driving it. Looking forward to more . Nice shots of Tom throwing out the anchor

Yes - a couple of auto insurers look at you tube videos either from a claim avoidance perspective or an underwriting risk perspective.

 

Also in my case I am the Stig! :p

When you do a track day...do you purchase track day insurance? If so what does is cost per day?

 

 

Lockton Affinity has a good track day insurance program with a good team running it. Price really depends on your track background, car value, etc. The best prevention is not to drive 10/10ths, have a well maintained and prepped car, watch when you run with other cars (especially BIG ones) and not get too close, plus run on a circuit with a ton of run off. If you have space you can go off and slow down safely. The secret is not to do as both Kitcat and I did on the first track days with a brand new car.... :o

 

There is another factor in how I prefer my track days - run with cars and drivers you trust. I trust the sevens group and generally Lotus drivers. They are late brakers, not too high top speed and can handle corners (except a purple Exige!). Sevens do not mix well with other cars on a track as our style of driving is very different.

Croc and Kitcat are very good drivers and their cars are capable of staying with or being the fastest out there. However, when we watched the advanced group run, the comments from all of us was, "Holy Crap" !!!

I don't think any of us would have enjoyed being out there with that run group for too long. The pace and the much later passing manuevers were intimidating to me.

 

Make sure you run in a group/level that matches your skill and car's performance capability. Just my opinion.

Guys,

I am pleased you all had such a good time. I am sorry I could not make it but I will move heaven and earth to make it next season. I had a blast last time and even though my car is not as fast as you guys it was great fun.

I have freshened up the engine for next season and while the car is still for sale if I do not sell it I will be there. I am working on her successor which I hope will have less weight and more horsepower. We shall see......

I would encourage everyone who is thinking of playing at the track or who regularly does to join us next year at NJMP. It is a fun track and a great bunch of guys.

Mike, I just put my video clips in the mail to you. You should have it in a day or so. I have some footage similar footage of that green cayman as well.

 

I like the GPS/Data overlay on your video. I didn't think my Clamshelled, little 195 hp car would hit 120 down the strait at TBolt. Cool.

I would agree with you normally but seeing Tom actually there and how much speed he was giving up on the corners (30 session old slicks), with good fresh tires I think he has at least another 10mph to gain down the straights with a good run through and out of a corner. He also has still another 1500 revs to use before the red line. Even with this it would have been a little scary to go through the high speed corners with the lift from the clams.

Despite all the claims about lift with the clams, I've never thought that the car felt like it was unstable due to lift.

 

Although on the Sunday session at lightning, there was a little wind kicking up and coming down the straight the wind actually turned my head/helmet and the car definately moved a bit sideways. But that was due to a crosswind gust.

 

The Slicks were definately at the end of their useful life as I felt like I did 4 wheel drifts thru some of the tighter turns. That being said though, Mike and Mike both have Waaaay bigger balls than I do. They are fearless, while I on the other hand have no desire to actually find the limit of my car's capablilities. I'm just out there having fun. :cheers:
