Kitcat Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Shane: your photos are interesting and educational (at least for the mechanically challenged, like myself:)). Only a true optimist, or a person with a keen sense of humor, could call that wiring system ''painless". The plumbing for the Accusump looks dangerously low-what keeps it from harm in the event of a bumpy off-road excursion?
xcarguy Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 (edited) The plumbing for the Accusump looks dangerously low-what keeps it from harm in the event of a bumpy off-road excursion? The photos are a bit deceiving. The rear of the oil pan is much lower than the plumbing (lowest point of the car). So, to answer your question...the oil pan. Hey, worked great last time. :jester: Edited November 29, 2017 by xcarguy
Anaximander Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Shane, Off-road excursions are not allowed in this beautiful vomit comet green Storker!
xcarguy Posted November 30, 2017 Author Posted November 30, 2017 (edited) Bob, We may have to rename it the vomit comet. Edited November 30, 2017 by xcarguy
xcarguy Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 Been busy this week (taking advantage of some down time) knocking out the short list; finishing electrical, a bit more fab work hear and there, wrapping up under-hood plumbing, filling the car with fluids, bleeding the clutch and brakes.
xcarguy Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 Creative clutch bleeding and clutch pedal stop.
xcarguy Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 Under-hood plumbing: oil/air separator and clean air source . . . :smash:
xcarguy Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 Today was the day. Though sorting is needed, the Storker fired up and moved under its own power (down the driveway, to the cul-de-sac and return) . . . :smash: . . . :auto: . . .:hurray: First start:
xcarguy Posted December 22, 2017 Author Posted December 22, 2017 (edited) Minus a tune, the Storker is finished. Spent the last few days setting up the suspension (ride height, camber, toe; still needs corner weighting), chasing down a minor leak here and there (tightening fasteners and hose clamps properly works wonders), venting cold air to the oil cooler and installing the harnesses. That's my 14 year old son, who is three inches taller than I am, trying on the right seat. The weekend was spent giving family and friends long awaited rides and the car seems to be well sorted at this time. The tune is scheduled for Jan 9 at SNL in the Dallas area. If all goes well, it'll be time for a much needed track day. . . . :lurk: Edited December 22, 2017 by xcarguy
