Mike,

What did you use to remove the individual coils from the valve covers on the LS3 and mount them remotely?

That design feature of the stock LS engines is their most visually unappealing aspect.

Hi Tom,

I hadn't intended to relocate the coils, but ended up having to due to clearance reasons. The relocation ended up costing me about $300 because I had to purchase a coil relocation kit (ebay) and new wires (Summit). The stock valve covers looked like crap, so I picked up a set of sand cast aluminum valve covers from Speedway Motors (another $230). I really like them because they add a period look to the car.

I am picking up my fenders and wings from the painter after work tomorrow. Once installed, I will post pics. After that, I'm pretty much on hold until I can get the paint cured and clear-bra installed.

This car looks great. The hood scoop on the Stalkers is growing on me. I was thinking about shaving it as it's not needed from what I understand with the ls1, but it looks good.

Couple questions, how much finish work did it take to get that quality of paint job. How rough are the panels from Brunton? And two, no radiator fan??

I am using a ford taurus fan with my ls1 Rx7 and it's the only thing I've found that keeps things cool but I doubt it's going to fit in this package.

With my body configuration, the LS motor requires a scoop. The body panels received from Brunton needed some TLC. The rear fenders were different lengths. This was evident when I started measuring the tail lamp housings. One of the front wings had a 1" crack upon arrival and all of the pieces required quit a bit of sanding and shaping.

Radiator fan is a puller and it is located on the engine side of the radiator.

Which body configurations require the scoop vs those that dont?

I thought brunton only sold 2 frames, their regular and an extended version for tall folks.

You are getting wheel hop with a solid rear axle? Any update on that

Bonjo2's frame is taller than the one on my Stalker. I presume it is to raise the fiberglass bits high enough to fit the LS3 without a scoop. That is actually the chassis I wanted and asked for, but Brunton built the wrong setup. I am not sure how many different frame configurations they have, but know that they now offer several models.

No updates on the wheel hop. I will probably tackle that after the engine is broken in.

Just need to finish wiring up the tail lights, get some clear bra, install the windshield, then get a VIN and some plates...

Nice build! I kind of wish I had done the roller option now. Maybe I'd be enjoying driving mine by now.

My M-spec has the "Classic" hood. I have the double tubes on the top of the hood area, so I hope that means I can avoid the coil relocation on my LS. Does that sound right?

What is the box just behind the throttle body on the shelf (dress up to cover the ECU)?

Great looking car! Hope you share more pics!

I dig your style Dude... looking at both cars you've done it seems we have similar taste (though I don't have your building skill though). Nice job.

I'm guessing your hood should clear. You may have to remove the plastic cover on top of your intake if using an LS3.

The box behind the throttle body is my braille battery and aluminum cover.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. :)

Everything seems to work fine electrically except for the mechanical brake light switch that's plumbed into my brake line. I'm sure with enough fiddling or a light tap with a small hammer, I'll get it to work.

Pulled the hydraulic brake switch and discovered it appeared to be very well used. Figured that Brunton Auto put on a new one when they plumbed the brake lines. Go figure.

  • 2 weeks later...

Off to the Colorado State Patrol tomorrow to get a safety inspection and VIN assignment. Am I a little nervous, yes...the car sounds like a B-52 and it doesn't have a hand-brake.
