Charlie was instrumental in making me a sportcar nut. He raced a little Merlyn sports-racer and played lead back and forth with Ken Miles in GT350 R002. It was the first race for a GT350, at Green Valley Raceway. Miles would blast by on the front straight and Charlie would repass him on the back section. Great fun. I hope he is doing well. Haven't seen him in a couple years.

panamericano
Not a Lotus, but interesting american special. I think Croc turned this up quite a while back. New, improved price. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/6/1791550.html?refer=news&utm_source=edaily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2019-12-

So sorry Dick Brink said he died several years ago. His estate contacted Dick to re-sell this Mclaren. Ask is about 200K. Same thing with another estate and this JPS Birkin. No-one is getting younger.
georgedodson
[h=5] [/h]I was looking at the BritAuto 200 Caterham. The VIN is SDKLLKANSY0021854. Which I read as Caterham, LHD, Long, Kit, Alternatif, but what is the NS? Does someone have a full VIN decoder (free)?
Kitcat
NS = engine Not Supplied. I don't have the decoder but it's been posted here before. Maybe Croc will add it?
Croc
SDKLLKANSY0021854 SDK = Caterham L = LHD L = Long cockpit K = kit built A = Alternative (i.e. not a race or special chassis) NS = engine not supplied Y = 2000 year 0021854 = chassis number All as I would expect for that car
georgedodson
Thanks! That one is down from $29.5 on their website to $25.9 on Hemmings. It is starting to get attractive. I think that I can get past the yellow paint but i don't care for the red interior. Yes, I know, both can be changed. Regards, George
Croc
Thought I would update this since I am awake at 3am with jet lag and I am on a plane all day again Sunday. Kitcat
Croc: By my count your recent itinerary will total around 40K miles (or more) in 3 weeks (or less). You have been breathing second rate, germ infested airplane air for much of that time. And you will have been through maybe 60 time zone changes? I can't believe you can still type your name! Croc
Yes my travel is a bit nutty. In the 4 week period ending on Dec 23 it will be: NYC -> Singapore -> London -> NYC -> London -> NYC -> Phoenix -> Seattle -> NYC -> London -> Frankfurt -> Singapore -> Sydney and then thats it with planes until January 2. I think thats about 60,000 miles in one month? Its the difficulty getting more than 4 hours straight asleep at any given time. On the plus side, I sat next to a Liberace impersonator in full flamboyance on the flight to Seattle yesterday!
