Kitcat
As folks know, a bunch of se7ens owners are getting together July 3-6 at New Jersey Motor Sports park. Since so many of us will be there at the same time, its seems like an excellent opportunity to sell/swap unneeded accumulated parts. Here are a few things I have, if anyone is interested: 1] Complete set of official Caterham Brookland screens. This includes the aluminum mounting plate that bolts right into the existing holes for the windscreen. Also included are three CF mirrors that attach to this and the two, fold-able, windscreens. The pluses are that less wind resistance means more speed, and the airflow does a much better job of venting heat from the cockpit. Plus it transforms the cars look from jeep-like (sorry Cat fans) to sleek and low slung. Disadvantages, less protection from flying bits (need to wear goggles or, preferably, a helmet). Also, as is probably obvious, you can't use the top w/a Brooklands. 2] Standard Caterham roll-over bar. 3] Other stuff will be added once I do an inventory of what I have piled up in my garage. I think I have a set of X-Flow radiator hoses and a coupla X-flow engine mounts. If I cant unload (er, sell) this stuff at NJMP, I will re-list it here. 4} Wheel tire combo is a possibility, contingent on getting Blubarisax to sell me his yellow "street" wheel/Avon tire combo, or raising enuf $ with what I sell to buy such a combo new. ASSUMING that happens, I have previously purchased his 4 like-new 8-spoke anthracite Caterham 15" wheels with brand new Toyo R888 rubber 235/50/15 and 195/50/15 and I can sell those. I think the wheels MAY have 1000 miles on them but are perfect. The tires are mounted and 6 months old but have just rolled around my basement. Due to an "error of judgement" I discovered that dont fit on my S3 Caterham. The 195's will fit on the back, not the front, the 235's are both too high and too wide for the back. I also have a spare set of Caterham 13" Minilite-like wheels in so-so shape, with old street tires (perfect for using to store your car in the winter so your precious high-end race-rubber doesn't catch a cold). Croc
Mike - I assume the Brooklands will have the scuttle bracket in addition to the two little Brooklands windscreens? If so then I think I want first dibs subject to checking it out. I know it is S3 sized but I have a nefarious plan. :smash: I know Mario is bringing a bunch of his laser cut 7 grills (or is it grills?) for sale. I do have 2 cam covers ready for a new home: 1 x Duratec Ford version with the carbon fiber Cosworth insert to cover the coils. Came off my CSR 2.3L Duratec but will fit a 2L. Essentially brand new as they came off my car at 1000 miles. 1 x Zetec 2L in a rather fetching shade of yellow. It is famous and was featured in a Caterham photo in Car & Drivel magazine. :cooldude: I also have: 2 x front shocks and 1 x rear shock off a Caterham SV. Used but in decent condition off a 10000 mile car. 1 x blonde mannequin model. Used to model clothes in a department store. I also have 5 x 16inch HPC wheels in excellent condition with road tires in reasonable condition and plenty of tread. I have not thought prices yet but will consider reasonable offers at the NJMP event and what does not sell will come onto this forum for sale later. I probably have lots of other stuff too but my garage is a disaster zone and who knows what other things lurk within there (I think I still have a 1965 Mustang in there somewhere....). I may just open up the garage door at NJMP and see what people want to buy...lol I am looking for a Caterham SV FIA roll bar to replace a standard if anyone has one? yellowss7
Looks like I have to start rooting thru the garage as well. I have a spare heated windscreen and stantions for a S3. A set of new Crossflow engine mounts that came with my kit for some strange reason. A couple of old Clamshell front wings, A pair of rear tail lamp assemblies. A new clutch cable. and I'm sure I have a bunch of other junk, I mean good stuff that I can dig out of my cabinets in the garage. Tom
Kitcat
Croc: yes the aluminum scuttle bracket to wh/all is attached, is part of the deal. I will sell for half of what I paid Caterham (an amt so large I am unwilling to mention it on a public forum and have my sanity further questioned). xcarguy
I might be able to scrounge up some Storker/V8 paraphernalia, just in case anyone is interested in making a move to the 'Dark' side.
wemtd
Does anyone know if Caterham Clams are easily adaptable to a Birkin? Or would it just cause my car to have an identity crisis? p. Edited May 22, 2014 by wemtd
xcarguy
Does anyone know if Caterham Clams are easily adaptable to a Birkin? Or would it just cause my car have an identity crisis? p. Both! :jester: On a more serious note, Jack Banker (forum name: jbanker) grafted Caterham clams (very nicely, I might add) to his Stalker. You might shoot him a pm for ideas. Here's a link with photos. Browse down to around mid-to-bottom page for the clams: http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=807&g2_page=5 . . . . .
wemtd
Very nice! Must be using clams to handicap the Storker?
Croc
A search of the past threads may be of help here - I definitely remember someone buying Caterham clams and installing them on a Birkin. There were a few mounting issues but it was eventually done.
xcarguy
Mike Bearden owned a Birkin with clams. He has since sold the car, but here are couple of links to prior 'for sale' posts regarding the car: http://www.lotusowners.com/ForSale/MB_Birkin_For_Sale/ http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?t=8619 Mike's cell is listed in both of those adds. You might give him a call and pick his brain or pm here; MBEARDEN
Kitcat
Paul, if you will be at NJMP for the July gathering, you can eye-ball it, assuming you drive there in yr Birkin. Since the clams just bolt to the flat side of the car, I don't see why they wldnt work. However, I know that the Caterham windscreen does not fit the Birkin. I tried that swap after I bought my Birkin and it wasn't close. The scuttle shape and size is significantly different on the 2 cars, notwithstanding their apparent similarity.
