Dave - Thank you for giving me a kick up the butt with a reminder. I have got to allocate time to get it finished but it is daunting faced with 50 hours of video!

Ha! I did not intend it to be a kick in anyone's butt, let alone yours. You always amazed me in the past years with assembling together excellent video. This year has got to be at least double the work to do it again. I for one salute you :flag: for such a great job in the past and if you get it done again it will be icing on the cake. I feel bad cause it took me so long just to get this one done. I hope eventually to get all my video on YouTube and share with all.

Dave

Well, seems the calendar is filling quickly....

There's the LOG event in Colorado Springs, have tickets for "The Hawk" at Road America, have crew chief responsibilities at the VARAC event at Mosport in June, a Meyers Manx weekend on the Outer Banks of NC, and 2 of our sons have a bunch of Chump car and Trans Am weekends they would like us to be at.

Yup, "our" free time is getting short, but both Rosemarie and I were disappointed at not making last year, even more after watching the video, so we are trying to keep it a priority.

  • 2 months later...

I am posting a link to my in car video from day 1 session 4 last year at USA7s 2014 at NJMP. I have started watching it over and over again to get my line down before this years event. (actually I have been watching it constantly since last year). Enjoy!

Dave,

You're the poster child for 'why' Superformance should have continued producing the S1! Great driving!!!! And the car sounds awesome! :hurray:

Dave: Great lines! I think your turns 2-3-4-5 sequence was pretty close to perfect. Maybe use all of the track in the bowl? You are "pinching off" the turn instead of letting the car's momentum carry you wide left 3/4's of the way thru. An instructor there told me to turn the wheel so I hit the bottom apex and just hold the wheel there. After you run wide that same wheel set will carry you back over to where you ordinarily enter the front straight on the far right. And you don't have to lift.

You consistently out-braked folks at end of straight and made up a lot of time on them there. I do know I was not able to catch you.

Croc-your plate is full putting on this event, dont sweat the videos!

Damn that S1 shifts! Wow! Why were there not more of these put on track - a very accomplished track car.

For the record Dave, where did you have the mic hiding? in the glovebox or under the seat or under the tonneau or somewhere else?

Nice Driving Dave, but you really should put you shield down. I've had stones and rubber come up and bounce off my shield. Especially if you get behind Kitcat. Tom

Dang!!! You caught me. I never realized it was up. You didn't see the other thing I did wrong. I started the video just after I had un-clipped my right arm from the tether strap. After watching the video I realized I did not hook it back on. Definitely a Novice.

Yeah....it is much better on the track. I tried auto crossing it a couple years and the car is not set up very good for it. I red-line 1st at 65 mph.

Thanks Mike, I have watched my videos probably 100 times since last year. My video from the second day when I was following Croc, just before the lightning struck the dirt after turn 1, I saw he was holding a high line thru the bowl and I could not keep pace with him. I definitely want to experiment more in that turn this year. I will have to try out what you are suggesting also. I have a lot to learn from you more experienced drivers.

The mic was clipped under the dash. That ended up giving me the best sound.

I have to thank the guy I bought the car from for the transmission he put in it. It is a Type 9 with Quaife rally gear set in it. It is a blast on the track and it is matched really well with the Zetec engine mods. BTW he took care of the oil drive problem that deters from reving above 7500 rpm. My red-line is set at 8500. I have only ever hit the rev limiter once and that was at the PA State auto cross championship in 2005. But it really helps being able to go out to 8000 and every now and then a little bit over. I believe I was hitting 8300 at the end of the straight on my fastest runs.
