toedrag
Woot! Pictures of the completed build below. And, I've scheduled 3 upcoming track days, 2 in Aug (one for LOG!) & 1 in Sept. I'm pretty excited. 250 miles on the car so far, and I plan to put some major miles this weekend while wifey & kids are out of town. I also have one of the tilting trailers on order from Stalker HQ in Florida. With their supplied "garage mount" hitch, I'll be able to park the trailer in the garage and drive the car on/off at my leisure. http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=28802&g2_serialNumber=2 http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=28805&g2_serialNumber=2 http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=28811&g2_serialNumber=3 http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=28815&g2_serialNumber=

Kitcat
Phew, I am worn out after watching the 2' summary:). And this thread got over 22K "views" so people have been interested. Certainly the finished product looks great and justifies the endless hours of meticulous preparation.
TheDingo8MyBaby
I really like the color. I'm usually not a fan of the stalker shape, but it really hides the girth. Very nice build quality as well (as evidenced by the 37 pages of work). Can you see over the rear fenders with those sideview mirrors? Any comments on it's "lateral capabilities" yet? Can you see over the rear fenders with those sideview mirrors? Any comments on it's "lateral capabilities" yet? Thank you! The dark color and black fenders do have a slimming effect. On the mirror, it's hard to tell in the pictures, but the mirror body (in addition to the pivoting arm of the mount) can rotate upwards so that the view clears most of the fender. The driver's side works well; I haven't messed with the passenger side much yet. I've got a couple track days scheduled in Aug & Sept to see how it handles some twisties. toedrag
Picked up the tilting trailer from Stalker HQ. The trailer fits on my side of our 2-car garage, and I just park the car right on it. Loading & unloading is a piece of cake, and we still have enough room to get kiddos loaded up on the minivan's side of the garage. http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=28839&g2_serialNumber=

toedrag
Couple of noteworthy changes: Regarding the clutch MC reservoir, I previously used Wilwood's remote mounting option, where the reservoir connects through a black hose (provided in the kit). The hose continued to leak at both ends, and the reservoir appeared to collect black particulate, which I presume is from the clutch fluid (Valvoline synthetic DOT3/4 from my local autozone) dissolving the hose from the inside. It was definitely not clutch dust; I know what that looks like. Plus, try as I might, there was still the ever-so-slight seeping leak at the remote reservoir, as many others have seen with the remote mount option. I moved the reservoir back to it's typical location directly mounted to the master cylinder. If heat becomes a problem, I'll make a little heat shield and use the two mounting holes fore and aft of the reservoir. http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=29836&g2_serialNumber=2 -- Here's a Top Tip: the hard top makes a lousy (but very exciting) air brake, which led to Hard Top Version 1.1 below. Since I didn't feel like getting it re-sprayed with the fancy plastidip color, I went with chalkboard paint and let the kids have some fun: http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?11188-Is-it-a-Stalker-a-Storker-or-a http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=29834&g2_serialNumber=1 I also added a hinged prop rod: http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=29832&g2_serialNumber=1 And lastly, some roll-bar padding on the side intrusion bars and on the top bars. toedrag
It's time to put an end to the plastidip experiment. It was peeling in a few places, gasoline drops eat it like nobody's business. More than anything, it attracts dust like a magnet, and I still never managed to wash it and end up with a streak-free appearance. So, I've removed alll the plastidip and am getting quotes for a new paint job, which will probably be a medium blue with black accents. I'm also sorry to say that between kids, aging parents, and work, wifey & I aren't finding much time to drive the car. I'll be listing it for sale upon painting completion, but I'd be okay if it didn't sell until after LOG since we were looking forward to that trip with it. comley
That must be a gut-wrenching decision to make. I know how much work goes into these cars. XL #22 has many unique features; I'm sure it will be snapped up fast when the time comes to put it up for sale. -Dave
russcole
Hey, I am a new member here and I am building a Stalker classic r. After research I came up with the same parking brake calipers that you used and was about to start sorting out getting a mounting bracket made. Now that I see you have already done the leg work I was wondering if you would be willing to share your drawings and numbers? By the way all the photos and information you have posted in this forum are helping me out a lot with my build. Thanks

By the way all the photos and information you have posted in this forum are helping me out a lot with my build. Thanks Welcome! I would absolutely share them if I had either the drawings or numbers, but those reside with the local fabricator I used. Alternatively, I think user jevs here on usa7s may have some actual CAD files laying around; you might check with him.
comley
I may be able to help you as I went through the same thing earlier this year on my Classic R build. I totally ripped off what jevs and toedrag did on their parking brake caliper brackets for XL#22 and XL#23. Perhaps the only element of originality I can claim is that I 3D-printed mine in ABS (how appropriate for a brake component) to check the fit prior to ordering. Have a look in the build thread for Classic R #27 and see if this is what you want. http://stalkercars.forumotion.com/t207-classic-r-27-build-parking-brake I'd offer the following cautions: the design of the bracket will be critically dependent upon the dimensions of your rotors, both diameter and thickness. I suppose it might potentially affect your choice of wheel as well. In any event, Mark at IPS provides a drawing that explains exactly where the caliper should be mounted relative to the rotor. The other factor that will be critical is the design of your particular uprights on your car - the ones currently shipping from Brunton may be the same as mine or they may have evolved in which case my brackets may not match your application. Standard disclaimer mumbo-jumbo: note that I have absolutely no idea what I am doing and therefore this bracket may or may not work in practice so use it at your own peril! -Dave
