It seems like that really want to give the impression that it's a vey high tech company.....every segment had some guy doing CAD work as if that CAD work is done each time they build a car. I'm sorry to say I thought it was weak. coffee break Posted September 7, 2014 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Compared other episodes of Dream Cars (other than the Morgan) there is a concentration on the high tech aspects inside the car and in the manufacturing. The 7 is high tech as of 1959. Also in other episodes they show engine assembly, nothing much was said about the drive train either. 7's are dream cars, just not in the high tech gee wiz sort of way. DeanG Posted September 7, 2014 Share Posted September 7, 2014 I enjoy factory tours. I've been at a spectrum of car manufacturer tours: Ford F150 in Norfolk (closed), Lotus and Panos. Ford had full automation and robotics. I took about 20 seconds to put in a windshield. Lotus had an early style Henry Ford push the car along from station to station assembly line. Two blokes were installing an Elise windshield looking and filing 1+ hours per windshield. Panos was like a huge corner garage where guys worked on cars. yellowss7 Posted September 7, 2014 Share Posted September 7, 2014 I've been to the Dartford factory a couple times. It's pretty small with a center aisle and frames lined up on both sides. Each car is assembled just like I did in my garage, piece by piece no assembly line. Each car is assembled in place. NOT impressive at all. IMHO.
