Hard to believe its up to 12 years. Where does the time go? This event’s gestation actually occurred the year before when some of us participated in the Lotus Owners Group 30, in Gettysburg. That event brought Croc, Tom (YellowSS), Scott Lentz (RIP), MichaelD, and myself together for the first time. We had so much fun at the event’s track day at Summit Point that Tom, as I recall, came up with the idea of doing it together again, but this time without our friends in the Lotus Owners group. It has proven to be a huge success, in no small part due to the tireless efforts of Croc and Tom, combined with the world class track facility at NJMP. Not clear if I will sign up. As noted elsewhere, my 15 years of se7en ownership may be drawing to an end. I get my refurbished Caterham back from Rocky Mountain Caterham in 2 days. That will be immediately followed by a track day at nearby High Plains Raceway and then the long haul back to Cincy, so plenty of time to decide Stay tuned.

Cable ties: Sounds like this Caterham is done! Nice job on the recessed roll pad. I just pulled on my cable ties until they disappeared into the foam:). Far less professional looking than yours.
-
Hmmm, 75 more hp and 30 more lbs torque than my Zetec. Given the likely 10-15% drivetrain loss and those are big numbers.
-
Plz share the dyno results: It will be interesting to see how your Honda engine compares to the current version of the Duratec used in the Caterham 420. Of course, every dyno is different but still its interesting.
-
Define “younger”, many of us se7en owners are in our 70’s:).
-
Sounds good, no hurry, just curious. And speaking of lightness, I just weighed my stock Caterham roll-over bar: 7.5 lbs....
-
OK, so how heavy are the stainless steel guards vs. the carbon fiber guards:)?
-
Very cool, I will be watching with great interest!

Good! The upside to the drought? He confirmed they were definitely faster.

I had this discussion about ZZRs with Josh, at Rocky Mountain Caterham just now. My Caterham is undergoing a moderate spa treatment there. It includes suspension mods and new 13” wheels and ZZR tires. As to compound, they recommend A64 over A24 for trackday use. Per Josh, the A24s need a different suspension set up with massive negative camber. And, as noted here, they don’t last as long. He predicted 4 track days. He also noted that all ZZRs are horrible in rain. Maybe a factor if driving them to and from the track? Anyhow, all in the FWIW catagory.

No, it’s just the standard token bar, not the braced, and 20 lb heavier, FIA bar.
-
That is one fast Caterham (&driver). My best there on the club course is 5” slower:)! I have a stock Caterham roll over bar sitting in my basement ($50.00+ shipping), should that become relevant to this sale (per Vovchandr).

So beautiful! Similar spec to mine. What times do you run at Mid-Ohio? Or, more generally, what times do you think its capable of there? Did I mention-so beautiful? A $45K sales price (give or take a bit) seems totally reasonable on BAT. Gotta love the license plate:)!

I recently read a story that a 2 stroke leaf blower produces more pollution in an hour than an V8 pickup does driving from Texas to Alaska. OTOH, I loved my 2stroke Vespa Grand Sport, bought new with my paper route savings in 1963. -

Congratulations! I look forward to hearing more after you get it. I suspect it will be extremely fast. -

It sold for $25,250. Worth it, IMHO. -
Or, like a recumbant motorcycle?

In the imortal words of Bob Lutz while at Chrsler, when commenting on the small sales of a specialty car maker: “We have more cars fall off trains every month than that”. I wonder how many of the 49 were 420R’s? I’d love to see the break down by models.

The no-reserve BAT Westfield, above, has 3 hours to go and is now at $9K. Weird. And a steal at the current price! -
I had both go bad on my ‘09 Birkin (the builder didn’t fasten the ends of the boot covers, so both came off at a Se7ens event at NJMP, leading to CV joint failure). I was able to get replacements from the builder, TexasMotorWorks, then the authorized Birkin importer. They may have some still, or know where you can source them?

Lots of build threads now and I love them all, including this one. Especially the “ build vibe” concept! You have had your challenges: weather, Omicron, truckers. Then factor in that Westfield seems to throw some built in serious curve ballls at its buyers. Seemingly, much more challenging than the oddball issues Caterham bakes into its build formula. Glad to see you rolling with the punches!

Lawyer for 50 years. Many different specialties over that period, ending with representating disabled veterans in their never ending efforts to get the government to honor its promise to take care of them if they are injured in the course of their service. My conclusion on the career thing is that people are like plants: every 10 years or so they need to do something new, otherwise they become “root bound”. It is frightening to head off in a new direction, but getting out of the same old comfortable rut can offer a level of interest, enthusiasm, even adrenaline, as you try to master a new vocation(with your financial life hanging in the balance!).

Or, just drop in an X-flow, and say goodbye to traction problems! Kidding, of course. It’s very impressive that Beachman Racing and you are engineering a one-off traction control system exclusively for this single car. Is this the last big challenge on getting this SuperCat ready for the road/track?

Were you able to save the tree growing up through the engine bay:)? Glad to hear it is salvageable!
