  1. Very sad. Another thread here: http://www.dfwautoclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25765
  2. Subscribed!
  3. I've taken the Stalker to a variety of car shows, and reactions have always been very positive (not like the Elise/Exige 'positive, with a side of jealousy'....it's generally just pure joy elicited from ppl). It's a car that transcends the most common automotive circles: Kits, British/Lotus, Muscle, Vintage, Drag, Road course, and probably more I'm forgetting.
  4. A-ma-zing! Thx for sharing.
  5. Couple of noteworthy changes: Regarding the clutch MC reservoir, I previously used Wilwood's remote mounting option, where the reservoir connects through a black hose (provided in the kit). The hose continued to leak at both ends, and the reservoir appeared to collect black particulate, which I presume is from the clutch fluid (Valvoline synthetic DOT3/4 from my local autozone) dissolving the hose from the inside. It was definitely not clutch dust; I know what that looks like. Plus, try as I might, there was still the ever-so-slight seeping leak at the remote reservoir, as many others have seen with the remote mount option. I moved the reservoir back to it's typical location directly mounted to the master cylinder. If heat becomes a problem, I'll make a little heat shield and use the two mounting holes fore and aft of the reservoir. http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=29836&g2_serialNumber=2 -- Here's a Top Tip: the hard top makes a lousy (but very exciting) air brake, which led to Hard Top Version 1.1 below. Since I didn't feel like getting it re-sprayed with the fancy plastidip color, I went with chalkboard paint and let the kids have some fun: http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?11188-Is-it-a-Stalker-a-Storker-or-a http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=29834&g2_serialNumber=1 I also added a hinged prop rod: http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=29832&g2_serialNumber=1 And lastly, some roll-bar padding on the side intrusion bars and on the top bars.
  6. . . . Wait for it..... . . . http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=29826&g2_serialNumber=2 http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=29828&g2_serialNumber=1 http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=29834&g2_serialNumber=1 . . . :jester: A fun little family project. Although, I did have to institute a "No Erasing" policy, otherwise they'd never finish.
  7. What is the term you would assign to the amount of money paid on top of the cost of food before it's prepared, delivered, or eaten? 'Tip' seems inaccurate. I'm leaning toward 'ransom' or 'bribe'. This practice has become the standard in my area at counter-service eateries. I understand the need for tips, and I understand ransoming food (which I'm always compelled to pay) results in more money for those in the service industry. The principle of pre-service tips disturbs me. (I know what you're thinking, "Just pay nothing up front and leave a cash tip." I never carry cash.) Where else is this acceptable/expected? Why not use the pre-service 'tip' amount as a deposit/escrow? At the end of my meal, I should have an option to release all or part of it, depending on the experience. This could be handled by a human, an app, or a little piece of hardware at each table. Seems like a win-win.
  8. Just for completeness, consolidating add'l links: Texas Registration Handbook (this one has the details about custom vehicles, sorry): http://www.txdmv.gov/publications-tac/doc_download/3077-registration-manual Texas Assembled Vehicle Handbook: http://txdmv.gov/publications-tac/doc_download/3447-assembled-vehicle-manual
  9. Cool. Generally, emissions is only done via ODB (no CEL, and you'll pass); not many places require sniffers in TX (I think)
  10. I wrote it up here: http://stalkercars.forumotion.com/t47-texas-laws#91 TX has a pretty comprehensive Title & Registration handbook here: http://txdmv.gov/reports-and-data/doc_download/703-motor-vehicle-title-manual Successfully obtaining my 'Custom Vehicle' designation (refer to handbook) and subsequent lack of any required annual inspection still boggles my mind, but it's legitimate (thanks likely due to do the SEMA lobby). Plus, I just completed my renewal online, which is great since I had been wondering if the unusual/rare nature of the Custom Vehicle designation might force me to renew in-person. From where I sit, the State got this one correct I'm happy to help if you get stuck at any point.
  11. Sounds good!
  12. Android user here (literally installed the Torque app yesterday), but have you looked at DashCommand, TrackAddict, or Harry's Lap Timer?
  13. Sorry to hear of your troubles, but at least you had some fun. Best of luck on the new speed goals. Can the T-56 Magnum work in your application (isn't it good to 700 lb-ft?), or would you go for a rebuild? EDIT: What are you thinking about for aero?
  14. I'm a few hours north in Dallas. Scott's brother, Jason, has an AXR in Austin, I think. Shane may still be in Houston. And if you didn't already know, San Antonio is only 1 hr from the Three Sisters.
  15. Thx! It's black cherry base with nebula red pearl.
  16. Travis's next article will be, "The Infuriating Joy of watching USA7s lose its mind over my article about Driving a Bare Bones Caterham 400 Miles in One Day" :jester:
  17. Wonder if this means the end of the DIY kit? Cutting kits out is an easy way for the mfg to recoup a substantial amount of unpaid time & effort spent supporting the builders.
  18. Lookin' good!
  19. Thx, for posting this. I really enjoyed it.
  20. aaaaaaaaaaaand....cue Jim Carrey as Vera De Milo (what has been seen cannot be unseen)
  21. Oh, nothing at all. I was just curious if subtle was streaking or if I should add it to my Nude Tracks list.
  22. Looks good! Why the naked rump?
  23. If you want to drop off in DFW, I'm happy to help. I might even have 3 garage spaces available for storage, but if I only have 1 garage space available, is that a problem? I could put the other two in the driveway with covers. If you prefer an Austin pickup, I can try reaching out to a few people there. Is there anything you need on the return trip, or will you either ship them or drive back directly from Austin? -Brit
  24. Excellent choice! I love what Miata did with these; hopefully, it starts a new trend in the auto industry.
