A cone can rip a rear fender clear off. Ask me how I know.

I would love to meet Jay. He seems down to earth.

4000 hours of work at 20.00 per hour comes to 80k that doesn't include parts and pieces. It seems like a good deal if you look at that way. I think Jay Leno should buy it, or maybe I will win the lotto this week and beat him to it.

Don't sleep for two days you will be amazed when and where you will sleep. -
I agree

A stock 7 will outrun most cars at HPDE events. You may get a zo6 or Porsche get by you but they won't blow you away unless you have some really long straight. An Ultralite or SuperStalker should run in front most of the time. I have been able to outrun ZO6 and GT3s with street tires on pretty regular basis. There are always exceptions too.

That brings back one terror filled ride for me. The second year we did the 1 Lap we were in LA heading to New Orleans. It was about 4 am we had a 1k mile leg that night. I was in the coffin asleep when I feel the trailer swerve and then go air born for about 3 seconds and came crashing down. I thought Kevin had fallen asleep and gone of the road at 85. It turns out he came up on a bridge and the center of the lane had a chunk of pavement sticking up about six inches. He jerks to split the lane the problem being the other lane was the same way. The car hit both high spots on the wheels and the car and the trailer were thrown into the air about 2ft. Scared the crap out of both of us. The only difference was that he knew what happened. I was blind in the trailer I just hear him get back on the gas and go on. So I assume he was awake for a while and try to go back to sleep. -
Donkervort has done some crazy stuff to run the Ring and set the record for a little bit. That car has alot of aero work.

Well I dont know if he was putting it to him. He was doing alot of blocking. When the SR4 can drive completely off the line and keep getting his nose in then he is the faster car it was just a matter of time. The Caterham was moving along pretty good and he obviously is a believer in rubbing is racing. Pretty good showing with a street legal car against a pure race car.

new owner introduction and questions
WestTexasS2K replied to rss's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Since the vehicle comes from another state you might have to get it weighed. I purchased a truck from Nevada in Jan that was already titled I was required to have it weighed. I don't know if this applies to cars. -

State farm cost me about 600 a year for agreed value policy of 30 k. I havey home and autos with them. Registration can vary even in the state. You will need to get the car inspected and get a form from the inspection place that you will take to your local license place with proof of insurance. What your inspector will require varys with districts. Some Require you to hook to OBDII and you can have mo codes showing others do a sniff test others do nome of the above. Houston is more strict due to smog Dallas is tougher too. Might go visit with local inspection guy to see what he expects. Might ask some horrid shops they usually know the more slack inspectors. -
Do you trust your 7 for a week long trip? (reliability)

My Ultralite did the One lap of America twice. Kevin has done it in his car one year. This event consist of about 4k miles and 12 racing events in 7 days. One year we had a battery go bad. We also ruptured a fuel cell, our fault for over filling with remote cell. Second year we broke several diffs from to much power from supercharger. We had no electrical or mechanical issues other than these. Kevin had no issues the third year where he took 1st in class and third overall. That being said I wouldn't leave home without some hand tools and some repairs items just in case. -
Yes I run the bias bar slight front bias and us the dash valve to fine tune on the track. If your at the limit of the valve you djust bias bar and start over once you get the bias bar in the right spot then you should try to get the valve at a sweet spot somewhere near the middle so you can fine tune on the track. I had mine set so tht it was perfect on the track and I could turn four times at the drag strip for burn box the turn it back for autox or road racing. It worked well for me.
-
Oh forgot change rear caliper to 1.38 piston units and it will fix your bias issue I also recommend a bias valve in the cockpit to adjust on the fly. I put mine in the panel below the dash and trans cover.

Rnr look on you tube under Organic racing. Kevin has a video from there when he did Ultimate TrackCarChallenge. You can time that video lap at the end to see what he ran with his supercharger. He only got few sessions so he still was learning the track . You get an idea though

I will take a picture of my chassis at the house when it get back on thurday so you can see the trunk area. I will have to look up some times from a few years ago. The last 2 times we were there we had forced induction cars. My fastest na time was 1.09 I was running prepared class which is DoT tire. Dennis was running 1.08 or high 1.07 John meyers was running 1.06 in his SS both on 13 race slicks. I was faster than all the other Stalkers that year I think there were 4 or 5 from what I remember. This was several years ago but I will try and find exact times. If any of the other stalkers guys here know chime in. Like I said the SS is very fast with good drivers as is the Ultralite. P.S I am not that good a driver! At motorsports ranch at a hpde event I had instructor with me for a few days. I talked him into driving one session and letting me ride he beat my fastest time by 2 sec and he was having problems getting use to my pedal layout he kept hitting brake and gas together.

Some of the trucks aren't enclosed but a day with some aluminum and caulking can make a good size rear trunk. There is enough room for 4 bags or two small suit cases. If you plan to drive more than 3-400 miles a day I would suggest some additional padding for the seat bottom and some extra foam for the lnar area. I just ordered a set of pneumatic lumbar pumps much like blood pressure cuff that I will put in my new car. They simple and light weight. Use motorcycle rain gear and possibly an outlet for electric vest you will be set for most weather. I never had any problems running in the rain as far as the car goes. Tires in the rain make huge diffrence. Three sets that I used hydro planned around 55. Michelin PS2 were as good in the wet as dry and they were good for track day fun. Side note the Ultralite will accept 15x10 wheel for racing slicks but the brakes are to large for 13. You can change to smaller brakes but wouldn't bother unless you competively race. Also rennet not all cars are built equally. Some are done very well others are not. So which ever make you select I would make the trip to see in person and drive before you pay.
-
Both cars are very capable for your uses. I think given a very good driver the SS will be slightly faster. That being said I have turned laps 4 sec faster with a na Ultralite. Setup and driver is major diffrence. I would consider the SS like a Four stroke motorcyle and the Ultralite a two stroke you have rev it harder and change gears a little more. Ultrlite has much bigger trunk almost twice the size of Stalker. That could come in handy while touring. I think both cars will fit you size wise Ultralite has adjustable pedals that moves about six inches.

Ok here goes again. I will make this shorter. You have a nice unique car, but I can see and understand the allure of the S2k engine. I think of cars that I can stuff that motor into. I love it. That said here are some obstacles I see. 1. Engine height and lenght is considerably larger than current power plant. Alot of measuring before you start. You can lower engine a little with a dry sump or modified pan but only about1-1.5" max. The tranny bell housing then becomes to low. 2. fuel system. EFI internal or external fuel pump with a return fuel line. This may require a new or modified fuel cell. 3. Engine size will most likely warrant chassis changes especially where the dash bars go to the tranny. This is most likely to narrow for the six speed to fit. You might can use existing tranny and just change engine but this will require custom adapter plate and clutch. Tranny may not hold power. 4.Electrical modification to wire the engine into the car. Most likely gauge changes I doubt the current tach goes to 9k. The speedo will have to be electrical type as well. Oh by the way you will have to run an external pick up signal for the aftermarket speedo to work. They dont like the Honda signal for some reason. 5. is the radiator going to cool higher horsepower engine 6. If you have to make chassis changes will the interior you currently have fit especially the seats. 7. Possible steering shaft changes 8. Hood will have to be modified most likely to clear. 9.IRS rear will require a rebuild of the car from the rear bulk head back. It will be hard to get the pickup points in the correct position to eliminate bump steer changes. I would stay with the live axle and beef it up or change it to a unit that will hold the power. Since you say that you dont plan to track the car, the advantages of the IRS are negligable for the cost and work involved to convert IMO. 10. You will have to reskin at least one side of the car because exhaust will exit the other side. New header needed too. 11. Weight will be a few hundered pounds heavier that what you currently have. 12. Are the brakes up to the task of stopping a faster heavier car? Other than these items go for it. Its your car do what you want. I am not a puriest so it wouldnt bug me to swap the motor if it is doable without destroying the character of the car. Plus I like having something different. I bet there isnt another Donker with a S2k engine in it. PS Brian might have built the chassis on our cars, but he didnt build our cars. RDRKT, 7evin and I have made significant changes from the orignal configurations.

You know what really sucks. Spending an hour typing a reply and it wont post. Then wipes out the post.

Kevin and I during the 07 One Lap had to drive from New Orleans to Georgia via Florida during a tropical depression. It took forever we could only go about 55. Year before we had to drive from southern Illinois to road America in sleet and rain that is the coldest we both have ever been. We were on the verge of hypothermia. The most miserable night of my life. Next year electric motorcycle gear was ordered.
