Another "USA7s" Aluminum trailer is available...
WestTexasS2K replied to Al N.'s topic in Cars For Sale
Jeff sounds like the pinion bearing is going. Well it only takes an hour to remove and replace. What gear ratio are you running? -
I know that this car is up for sale. So I thought I would post it here. It is a freshly finished 07 Ultralite XR7 that was made street legal. Generally the XR7 is a track only car. It has a moly chassis and a thinner hoodline everything has been mounted as low as possible to get the CG low. The engine is tilted to also aid in the lower CG. These cars are weigh in at about 1100 lbs. This particlular car won 1st place at either Knottsberry Farm or Carlisle which ever is in CA. The owner has had some sudden changes in life and needs to sell the car. There are only 3 of these made to this point so they are a rare breed. I do not know the selling price but the owners name is Al Olseen in San Jose Ca. 408 274 4900. the car is registered in Ca. Another neat feature on these cars is the power pedal adjustment and the drivers seat has powered tilt feature. This allows you to adjust for best visibility for you. I beleive that this car has inboard rear brakes and pushrod front suspension. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/2042219947_grn xr7 int[1].jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1606062899_grn xr7 rr[1].jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/942541231_xr7f show[1].jpg

Jeff what is your diff doing? What kind of noise is it making. -
Spectators are encouraged to come. Entry is about 10$. You have access to the pits and can talk to and see all the cars you like. We usually have a nice get together at Jerry Eddens house for food/drinks/war stories/ and of course a few people talking about 7s. I am staying at a Holiday INN about 5 miles from the track.

Difference between street tires and slicks
WestTexasS2K replied to yellowss7's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Thats kinda of like comparing apples and organes isnt it? RA1 is intended to be a track tire although it is DOT approved. Falkens are a true 220 wear street tire. -
Run N Gun is coming up in about 3 weeks in St Louis. I havent heard very much from board members that are planning on coming to this fun filled event. You will get a ton of track time, for every skill level. They will have a rookie class all the way to the pro class for the road coarse. Everyone can AutoX, and I think everyone here can make a few passes down the drag strip. It is alot of fun so would encourage everyone to come. They are having a good tech session on Wen. done my Morris Clements and then you will have all afternoon to tune and corner weight your cars and test your adjustments on the track. Go here for details http://www.runngun.net/. Hope to see alot of 7s there.

I have been really pleased with my Falken RT615s available in alot of sizes and are very affordable. It has won the Grassroots motorsports tire challenge the last few years. I have had them, and more expensive tires (Bridgestone RE01R and Yokohoma AD07) I still like the Falkens the best. -
Damn that looked painful! He should stick to building not riding.

Anyone using Honda S2000 engine
WestTexasS2K replied to BusaNostra's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Ok good to know. I have not looked in the manual because I have not dry sumped and dont intend to anytime soon. Manual says 58.4l at 6000 the 100l is was quoted at 9k. An additional 3000 rpm at crank will be 6000 more rpm on the pump. I am not sure if the flow is proportionate to engine rpm I would assume it is. That being the case the flow at 9k rpm has to be a good bit more than 58.4L. What it is I dont know. I will let all the engineers on the site do all the math if they want. -

tops are an option. The old website had pics of a blue car with a top but he updated the site and tooks some of the pics off. The top use to be a 1500.00 option. I am not sure if that price is still good or not. -

I would love to attend an event like that if location was resonable. -
Areo screens work great. I ran my car with nothing for 1 year. Last year we added the areo screens it really cuts down the buffeting.

3.5" ground clearance for me too. I have not had a problem driving with that clearance. Just as slngsht said watch for speed bumps. I have scraped the pan a few times but no real problems. It is possible to cut the pan down a bit for more clearance if you desire. There are a few dry sumps on the net but research it a bunch if you go that route. The S2000 pumps 100L per min in Vtec mode to the head. People who have done dry sumps have not been able to get Vtec to work because of the wrong pump size. So you will really need to team up with a pump builder to get your pressure stage, and scavage stages sized appropiatley. It get real expensive when you have to redo a dry sump set up more than once. -
My best friend in the fourth grad dad had a Manta Montage he was building. I never did see it completed but I think they are cool cars.

Well that was a long technical write up. If I had a K engine I would defenitley put his ideas into practice. But I will stick to my porky uber reliable Honda.

Glad to hear that the guy is standing up for himself. I heard him ask about the camera and his tone did get a bit quiter soon after and then he started to sweet talk the guy saying he was concerned about his welfare and so on and so forth. I was blown away when he actually arrested him. I figured he was going to arrest him and then destroy the tape in the guys camera.

I like the idea of Yellowstone and Glacier park. I have never been there but have always wanted to go. I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone. I would be infavor of anything withing 2000 miles one way, that has some awsome roads and beautiful scenery to soak up. The appeal of winding mountain roads sounds like alot of fun. Remember I am from west Texas, anything that protrouds from the surface for 100' is considered a mountain:) If there is a curve in the road every ten miles it is considered a winding road. So I will have to defer to folks that live in more interesting roads than Texas. I did a little googling and found this. http://www.caranddriver.com/bestroads/road11/colorado/san-juan-skyway/ It is listed as one of top 8 all American roads. I found this website that has a good interactive map with details about the scenery and roads. It has a show all of the All American roads (red stars) and then scenic roads. http://www.byways.org/explore/

I was out doing some service calls and was pulling up to a job when it came over the radio that a plane had flown into the WTC. Like most people I assumed it was a small private plane. I later went to pick up some supplies and they had a tv on when the second plane hit. Thats when I knew something was going on. Being a firefighter I knew the out come was not going to be good. Since I am Aircraft rescue firefighter as well I know what 100k lbs of jet fuel can do to a steel structure. Plus any fire suppresion system is going to be useless on jet fuel fire not to mention that the plane would likely tear out the sprinkler systems. The resulting pressure lose on subsequent floor were going to be only partialy effective. The towers actually stood longer than I had thought. I was glued to the TV watching my brother firefighter responding to that incident and thinking that they will all die trying to get people out. I will take an average ff 1 hour to climb those stairs with gear and it will be over before they ever get there. It was a heart breaking to watch that event unfold. I have to say the life as a ff afterwards have been much better. We tend to get a little appreciation from out community even years later people bring snacks and treats up to the station visit and tell us thanks. It makes me proud to be a ff.
