  1. Looking for a source for 48mm diameter by 40mm high trumpets for a set of Jenvey tbs. I have a set of 90mm ones to sell or trade.
  2. Try John Esposito at Quantum Mechanics in Oxford, CT [(203) 463-8299]. They overhaul T-9s and probably have spares lying around.
  3. Tapping the blue plug is a last resort. It would result in a cooler temp than within the pressurized flow. I'd like to find an appropriate port elsewhere on the engine, if such a thing exists. Relocating the pressure sender makes sense as the motor mounts are fairly stiff. It makes sense to minimize the prospect of a vibration induced failure. Someone else suggested reverting to the stock Ford oil filter mount. Apparently, that one works fine with the Birkin chassis.
  4. Prior to installing the Duratec drivetrain in the Birkin this week, I decided to add an oil temp gauge and sender. I have a Raceline oil filter adapter on the engine. It has an outlet (⅜" NPT) just above the filter on the top of the housing. There isn't enough space to add a temp sensor there due to the starter clearance. I currently have the oil temp sensor mounted on the side of the adapter just aft of the filter. Are there any other locations on the head or block that would work for either the temp or pressure sensor? TIA
  5. What were you most recently current on? I am a recently retired corporate pilot in LA. If you were willing to relocate, it might be easier to find something but it seems like the Texas market for pilots is really taking a hit due to oil prices. PM me and I may be able to provide a lead or two.
  6. Has anyone found any good deals on "COP" coils? Are there any advantages to one brand over the other or are they pretty generic? There seems to be a wide range of pricing online.
  7. Just installed a Braille B-129 in the Birkin. Do any of you have a tasteful and effective solution for shielding the positive terminal? I can always tape it but that looks like crap, no matter how neat you are. TIA
  8. I'm not quite as bad off as the first picture but would like to end up like the second. That is definitely NOT going to happen with the factory harness. One more call to Carlin tomorrow. Beautiful work!
  9. I am pulling my hair out trying to get the wiring harness in my Birkin connected to everything. I didn't care for the plastic rocker switches and swapped them out for Lucas toggle switches (a more classic look as well). Basically, there is no master wiring diagram. Everything is broken out by component. The color coding follows a strategy that I have yet to figure out. Additionally, there are a number of circuits that I am not using (heater, seat belt warning, etc.). Poor Tom Carlin. I must have made a hundred calls to him for clarifications. He has been wonderfully patient but I am seriously considering replacing the entire harness with one from Painless Performance. I have wallowed around for a couple of months trying to get everything to work. I need to move on. Anyone have any experience with Painless?
  10. I would send the injectors to RC for cleaning. They will also replace the filter screens and make sure they are all within spec. About $100 with a very quick turnaround. I would also replace the fuel filters and any rubber flex lines (if installed).
  11. The Kirkey seats are well made and reasonably priced. They also come in a variety of widths. The seatcovers incorporate the contoured padding. I picked up a pair for my Birkin and modified them to fit. Use a carbide disc to remove the edge beading and save it. After using a saber saw to trim to size, the edge bead can be welded back in place. Just hit it with a mapp torch to anneal it into place. Any upholstery shop can modify the covers to fit. Check their website.
  12. Thanks
  13. Found it on Jegs. Clevite B31861. Thanks to all
  14. Sorry for the mis-orientation.
  15. I am looking for the gasket that goes between the coil mount and the head, not between the coil and the mount. I got the same search results. Thanks
  16. Can any of you provide the Ford (or Mazda) part number for the gasket for the water inlet/coil stand at the back of the cylinder head for a Duratec? I have a dumb Ford dealer near me and the online options are limited. TIA
  17. If it's that clean, it's an exotic. If it has the usual rust and wiring problems.....
  18. I recently acquired a Newton cap for my Birkin and have an unused locking gas cap assembly available. The exterior diameter of the neck is 51mm. Two keys included. $50 plus shipping
  19. As I continue to build my Birkin, I find myself disappointed in only a couple of areas. Some of the hardware is a bit funky and the switches seem a bit flimsy. I have replaced a fair number of the bolts with 10.9 and 12.9 quality stuff. Now that I am wiring the dash, I would like to replace the plastic rocker switches with toggles. Has anyone else gone this route? The real headscratchers are the hazard light and two-speed wiper switches. Tom Carlin has been wonderfully patient with my calls about this. The basic problem is that the wiring diagram is pretty simplified and devoid of any descriptive information. TIA
  20. I have one available for a Caterham/Duratec.
  21. After reviewing the various references, I have seen the lubricant quantity range from 1.9 to 2.4 liters. What gives? No pressure vent either?
  22. I have one under construction in West LA. I picked it up from Tom at the end of February. The transmission is due to arrive on Friday.
  23. I have an older MBE ECU (MBE 967EF) that is no longer supported. Looking for a cost-effective ECU for this motor. TIA
  24. I just ordered an OMP TRS-E ES from Pegasus to try. Definitely narrow enough to fit in the chassis. I am still a bit concerned about the "butt capacity". About $400.

I am looking for a reasonably priced source for WeatherPak electrical connectors and rod end seals. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
