  1. Welcome Dave. I sent you a DM.
  2. Just wanted to update this thread. After some unwrapping of the harness, lot's of labeling of the wires, and some head-scratching over what they were trying to accomplish with the immobilizer wiring/connectors/etc, everything pertaining to the immobilizer is removed. The car starts up and runs like normal, so all that's left to do is the final wiring connections, heat shrink, and wrapping the harness. If anyone has any questions pertaining to this operation, lmk via PM and I can give you some tips that might make it easier (fuses/relays/etc). I guess it could be done without removing the scuttle but I wouldn't want to attempt it!
  3. You might want to check with RMC, they have a lot of older Caterham parts. Your Series 2 seal could be the same as a Caterham. Contact details here:
  4. I thought you might be interested, hope that works out. I still don't have my car registered but hope to have that done sometime soon. Still have 3 more track days to do this season. One in NH in Sep and two in NY in Oct.
  5. I'm hoping. I have the scuttle off and will be working on it this morning.
  6. Thanks for your input Anker. I should have clarified that I've only used my R888R's on track days.
  7. Croc - I rec'd the installation manual from John earlier. Thanks for your help guys!
  8. I've been using Toyo R888R 185/60-13 on my Caterham and been happy so far. When I have to replace the Avons on the stock 14" wheels I wouldn't hesitate to replace them with R888R's too. If you want to try them out you're more than welcome to come over to Higganum and we can swap them to your car as long as you have the 4 x 108 PCD.
  9. I would really like to remove the Caterham-supplied immobilizer on my 2019 310S to clean up the wiring behind the dash. I've done a little searching and found this thread but it didn't go into detail on how to remove it: I was reading Croc's "CatKong" thread and noticed the amount of wiring/hardware that is removed (see attached photo). I understand the security issues involved, but if anyone can give some direction via PM I'd really appreciate it. I don't want to start cutting wires and end up with a car that won't run!
  10. Interesting reading here: https://meteormotorsport.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Caterham-Suspension-Recommendations-Jan-22.pdf.pdf
  11. Thanks for your input Croc, very helpful. I was looking at the Caterham kit to go with the stock Bilsteins: https://caterhamparts.co.uk/dampers/41-damper-adjuster-kit-for-bilsteins-set-of-four.html?search_query=ADJUSTABLE+DAMPER&results=58
  12. Thanks for your input Andy.
  13. Thanks for the input guys. The main reason I was contemplating a suspension 'upgrade' is my intended use for my car has changed since I purchased the kit back in 2019. If I had known I was going to be using it for track days as much as I have, I probably would have gotten the 'R' pack and possibly with one of the Duratec models. I was looking at the difference between 'S' and 'R' suspension and the main difference was wide track, adjustable platforms, and the rear ARB. The least expensive 'upgrades' would be the ARB and adjustable platforms so I thought I would look into that first. I still haven't determined if the 'R' pack uses the 1/2" front ARB or if it's the 5/8" ARB.
  14. I have a 2019 Caterham 310S with the stock road suspension. I've been doing some track days with this car, first with the stock 14" Avon ZT7 tires, and then switching to 185/60-13 Toyo R888R's. I'm running 2 deg camber in the front and whatever the stock ears are setup for in the rear. Since switching to the Toyo's I seem to be getting a fair bit more roll. The stock road suspension has a 1/2" front anti-roll bar (orange) with no rear bar. Would it be a worthwhile upgrade to go to the 5/8" front bar (red) and the adjustable rear bar? How about the adjustable damper platforms and getting it corner balanced, would that be worth it? If I had known I was going to enjoy track days as much as I do, I probably would have ordered my car with a more track focused setup. I've attached the best photo I have showing the roll from the rear.
  15. Caterham factory tour:
  16. Paul, check out this video on my son's 4-post lift: I just talked to him and he'd be willing to show it to you if you wanted to stop by. Lmk and we can work out the details.
  17. Croc - Is there any track that you haven't been to??? I agree with you about the runoff areas at Club vs Palmer. I was following a Challenger in the novice group at Palmer last Oct, and was concerned with his driving even though he had an instructor in the car. Sure enough, a lap later he stuffed his brand new car into the tire wall. The only time I was concerned at Club was braking into turn 15 when another car was tracking out. I felt like I was aiming right at him! I wish I could have made it to NJMP, but I already had a couple plans in NH for that long weekend.
  18. Thanks, it was more work than I expected! From my limited experience, I think it's the best track in New England. I've been to Canaan in NH, Palmer in MA, and LRP. I did LRP in the Miata because it was raining. My favorite up until now was Palmer, but after Saturday I think Club is my new favorite. The only negative is it's 4 hours away. I do want to try LRP in the Caterham just because I've been there so many times as a spectator. I have track days scheduled for Canaan in September, and New York Safety Track and Watkins Glen in October. I hope the weather holds out and I can take the Caterham to all three.
  19. I thought it was time to finally update this post. I bent up some 1.5" steel tubing (.095 wall) and fabricated a stub tube to attach to the forward boss located on the upper chassis rail. Drilling the outside skin was a little nerve-racking but with some careful measurement it came out nice. On the other end I bought a 1.5" ID 6-bolt clamp to attach to the lower portion of the roll bar. My welder had retired and moved out of town so it took me a while to find someone that would take on a small job and did good work. Finally got it all TIG-welded together and painted last week, just in time for a track day at Club Motorsports in NH. Here's a photo of the completed setup although I did add some FIA roll bar padding before the track day. The side impact bar extends out 7.5" from the body and enabled me to have my arm just outside the body and not draw negative attention from the track day safety crew. I did end up getting a 6-pt Sabelt harness from RMC and also picked up a Simpson Hybrid Sport to add to the safety equipment.
  20. A new posting on BAT: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2001-caterham-super-7/
  21. The cap looks good. A few years back I designed and 3D printed some air filter covers for my 64 MGB. This was back in 2013 and the finish wasn't that great as printed, so I sanded, primed, and sprayed it with Eastwood's AlumaBlast paint. I thought it came out really well and the new owner said he thought it looked great. Not a great photo but it's the only one I still have. Just something to consider.
  22. Thanks for your help MV8.
  23. I jumped the black/green wire with a fused wire directly from the pos battery terminal. Black wire at the cooling fan connector is ground. It's turning the correct direction. There is no fuse labeled 'cooling fan' for the 270/310 model in the manual, but there is a 'cooling fan' fuse for the 275/280 model listed that's a 15a fuse. I checked all of the fuses and none of them are blown. It's a brand new Caterham kit I just finished in the fall of 2021. The cooling fan has never come on unless I jumped it.
