  1. I think most of the time the steering rack boot is fastened to the inner tie rod by a cable tie. If that is keeping the inner tie rod from turning easily you can cut the cable tie, make your adjustments, and then replace the cable tie when you're done.

  8. I was working as a tech when the Mercury Merkur came out in the 80's and remember there was a TSB for the oil capacity/fill level on the T9. They actually had you make up a dipstick to measure the level at 1.00" down (IIRC) from the upper level fill plug which corresponded to the same capacity if the case had the lower plug. So what was referenced above is correct. I rebuilt the T9 with a BGH C/R gear kit for my old Birkin and was really happy with the results. I also installed a Quaife cover and was able to check the level from above which worked out really well:

  16. The turn signals used on the earlier models in the US were Lucas L594 units. They were used in many British sports cars of the 50's and 60's and my first car (1961 Bugeye Sprite) used them on both the front and rear for turn signals. The chrome ring is used to retain the glass lens so they don't fall out! Not sure if I missed it being mentioned but the lower powered Caterhams today are using the Ford Sigma 1.6L engines out of a Ford Fiesta and later Focus.

I had an idea on what I wanted as far as the driving experience and thought that the 310 best fit the bill. Like Croc said, I'll probably be shopping for a set of 13" wheels with stickier tires at some point. I did get the Premier Power lightweight flywheel/clutch setup which reduced the rotating mass by almost 50%. I'll have mine on the road when the roads are clean this spring and can give a better review at that time.

  19. I've never seen the white turn signal housing sold separately. If you didn't want to buy the whole assy, you might be able to get some 3/8" hard line (or whatever size has the proper ID), cut off a short section and JBWeld it around the broken piece to reinforce it. I measured the OD of the (2) white stubs at around .278".
