I'm interested. Possible to change our entry with Trackdaze from both days to just Sunday, then everyone sign up with LTW for Monday? Which could then turn the Saturday Trackdaze into the "optional" day? Steve

Nick - How hard is it to line up/aim the Replay? Do you just sight down the barrel?

Finally going to bite the bullet and purchase an HD camera for track days. Was planning on purchasing a GoPro HD3 (probably the Silver), but then looked at the Replay XD1080 and thought it might be a good option. Primary question has to do with the lense. GoPro is 170 degrees, while the Replay is 135, which apparently reduces the fisheye look that 170 provides. The GoPro is the easy choice. Anyone have a Replay? Thoughts? Steve

I would think you might end up having to develop a map specifically to pass emissions, even if it makes it run poorly overall. Might be a reason to not go with Weber Alpha kit. Steve

Another AX block Crossflow owner here. My engine is at the start of a rebuild, and while my exhaust seats were changed to hardened, my intake weren't. Interestingly, they apparently have held up fine. But, they are going to be changed as part of the rebuild. I had my distributor recurved last year (Advanced Distributors), and it now needs 16-18. I thought that the cam had a large impact on the advance. I know on Blatchat that 14 seems to be the general recommendation. Steve

Carl - Don't have any info to offer (although I also have a Crossflow), but I am in contact with someone in the UK who is in the process of converting his Crossflow to injection. I thought the decision to be made was between the new LTW group and Trackdaze? Nova indicates that LTW hopes to have dates in the next week or two. I'm fine either way, just wasn't sure that a decision had been made. Steve

I had the same problem with my '98 Crossflow Caterham, and it was the rubber engine mounts. They had collapsed and the bottom of the carbs were hitting the frame member on hard left hand turns creating an air leak. They've improved the design (somewhat), and they are supposed to last longer. Steve

Mon/Tues allows me to visit family over the weekend, but no real preference for me. The Trackdaze site states that there will be 5 run groups that weekend. Steve

It was me and the Crossflow pedaling as fast as we could. Scott and I quickly agreed on the strategy of heading to the back of the grid as it gave us a few laps before we started giving point-by's to all the high end equipment. My speedo was acting up (really, it was!) but think I saw 110 or so a few times. I'd redline in 4th and then sit there for a bit before braking. Tried 5th once or twice, but it didn't seem to make much difference. Still, unbelievable facility, and we had fantastic weather all 3 days. Croc - I'm pessimistic about COTA having track days after this year. The track isn't really setup for them, and I'm not sure how thrilled they were to have us. The weekend was actually canceled for a time (after everyone had paid and the check had been written to COTA), but then they changed their mind again and allowed the weekend to happen. Hope I'm wrong, but we'll see. I haven't received my photos yet, but will post some when I do. Steve

Scott - I would think that just "normal" snap studs would be fine for the boot cover. The "pull the dots" are directional, in that you can't unsnap from one side of the snap, and can only undo from the other. I used them for the front snaps on my half doors, so that they wouldn't blow off from the wind, but don't think you'll have that issue with the boot cover. My 2 cents. Steve

Which Weber 40DCOE carbs fitted to Prisoner Edition Caterhams?

I thought that the series/edition was related to the age of the carb. So a "2" would have been made - well, a while ago - maybe the '50's (?). It may also be related to where the carb is made - maybe. I thought the 151's were made in Spain. This is not based on any actual research - so, I could be way off. Steve -
It looked a lot like that one, but I think it was manufactured by Hunter? Maybe the "A" team wasn't working on Saturday.

Was wondering whether anyone else has experienced the issue I ran into yesterday. I have a set of 13" Panasports with Toyo RA1's that I use for track days. Last spring I had two of my tires flipped on the rims, and decided I should do the other two before an upcoming track day. I went to the same tire store that had originally mounted the tires, and that had flipped the first two. When I went to pick them yesterday, I noticed that they had weights on the outside vertical edge of the rim, instead of on the inside horizontal portion of the rim. I was surprised, and asked why since they had never put weights there before. He said that the rims were too small for the balancing machine, and so had balanced them using a different method. It still seemed odd, so they took me back in the shop and showed me what the problem was. Sure enough, the sensor for the inside of the rim couldn't fit inside the rim - it hit the outside vertical edge. He ended up rebalancing them using some kind of hybrid method, and we lost the edge weights. Anyway, was wondering if anyone else with 13" wheels had experienced this issue with getting them balanced. Steve

Duane - I am a member of GarageJournal, but have never posted. Maybe I will. Stig - Sounds like a keeper. My wife has also been supportive. She actually used the pool quite a bit, but I think she got tired of me complaining about not having a garage. And she's getting a quilting room out of this. Mike - We considered a tunnel, but thought it might be a bit ostentatious.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. For the most part, it turned out much better than originally imagined. To get there, it did require a few upgrades to the original bid and plans. Jerry - Don't think it's real deep. Interior is 20' x 20' - probably just the angle of the photo, plus it is a Seven after all. Tom - No polishing since you last saw the car. And definitely am planning on making the trip to NJ again. Likely to be in June again? Mike - Can't believe you didn't stop by! Unannounced is never an issue. Could have used your help with the timing.

When we moved into our current home 15 years ago, our garage looked like this: Yes, that is indeed a pool directly in front of the garage. One of the previous owners had installed it in 1967. Vehicular access was restricted to amphibious craft and/or required a bridge. We did some renovations and created our version of a pool house about 10+ years ago, resulting in: The Seven has, obviously, been living elsewhere. The combination of the pool not being used much, it needing some serious work, the Seven, etc., resulted in the decision to rip out the pool and renovate the garage. Work started in August, and finally finished up around the holidays (and if that seems too long, it was – don't ask). So, I finally moved the Seven into it's renovated home this past Saturday: My trailer lives in the carport in front of the Mini. I changed the oil, synced the carbs, and checked the timing in preparation for an upcoming track day – all in the garage. Steve
