  1. The only Texas Caterham I'm aware of is Phil Anderson's. Believe he lives about an hour or so outside of Austin. Phil has arranged a few 7 gatherings in Texas, but not sure how often he visits the forum. Met Phil briefly at LOG in Indianapolis. He has a BDR in his Caterham. Steve
  2. Dave - Believe your Pertronix was installed incorrectly. I recently replaced the sensor unit in my Lucas distributor (also for a Crossflow), and my wires were routed the same as Bruce's for his MG distributor. It really doesn't make much sense to have the wires up top - just asking for trouble with the rotor spinning around. Steve
  3. Here is thread on BlatChat about injecting a Crossflow: http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=216318&pn=1&ps=15 I know Dave (he occassionally is in St. Louis for work), and if you're interested could ask him for more details on what he's planning on using. Dave actually dragged a spare distributor across the pond that I used in my Crossflow for about 4 months. Good guy. Steve
  4. Not a member, but a dedicated Blatchat reader, so saw your post over there. Agree, great picture. Might finally inspire me to join the UK club. Interesting article about the Alaska Highway in the NYT on Tuesday: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/24/science/with-warming-peril-underlies-road-to-alaska.html?pagewanted=all Steve
  5. "....Caterham USA and he said the only way he can get the gasket is with a new fuel sensor...." "I had the same issue and ordered two from Caterham UK." http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=96 I find myself often going directly to Caterham UK for parts these days, because of the above. Steve
  6. Here is a thread from the Garage Journal forum on another garage at the same complex. http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46593 Steve
  7. Interesting. I felt much more comfortable on Lightning. Never really felt all that quick on Thunderbolt - not that I was setting records on Lightning. I was purposely conservative braking at the end of the main straights, and really in braking overall. Partially to subscribe to the "slow in, fast out" philosophy, partially because I'm not that familiar with the tracks, and partially because I'm not that brave. Just glad I was able to uphold the honor of the Crossflow. And I think my full windscreen compared to Tom's Brooklands compensates for his slicks. Steve
  8. So if they both are ready, which one do you bring? Hopefully, a decision you'll have to wrestle with.
  9. A few of the posts on Blatchat describe Macdonald as a "petrolhead". I guess it's better to promote an accountant than the head of marketing (see Dany Bahar).
  10. Getting lined up in the same group prior to registration on Monday morning would probably be a good thing.
  11. Just noticed that there are two Intermediate groups. We're all in Intermediate 1? Steve
  12. Just noticed on the SCDA website that they don't allow passengers. Is that rule still in effect? My brother is considering coming down on Monday, and wanted to take him out during a session. Steve
  13. Thought I'd bring some adult beverages from a St. Louis micro-brewery. A little taste from fly-over country. Steve
  14. I have the Bell M4, which seems to run around $380. It has an extra large eyeport, which I like. I purchased mine (and the helmet before) from Helmet City. If you're a memeber of Lotus Ltd. you get a 10% (I think) discount. And they offer free 2nd day delivery shipping. Steve
  15. I'll arrive in Mahwah to visit family on Saturday afternoon. Thought I'd get down to NJMP around 4:00 pm Sunday. I'm staying at the Fairfield Inn in Millville. Assume I can drop off the trailer at the track on Sunday? Steve
  16. Mike - The '03 is still listed. Looks like you got a fantastic deal! It mentions pushrod inboard rear suspension. I'm thinking that is an error in the description? It's an S3, right? Steve
  17. Mike - You seem to have become a serial Seven owner. Congrats. Steve
  18. Just submitted my registration. I encourage more Crossflow owners to join me. Steve
  19. Mike - Any updates? Steve
  20. So if I'm counting correctly, 4 have signed up, 2 of which (Mike M. and Karl) are facing significant challenges to get their Sevens running by this date. Don't take this the wrong way, but driving 900 miles in one direction to run with possibly only 2 other Sevens is not quite as attractive as when there are going to be 8-14 Sevens. Are others still interested? Steve (the one in St. Louis)
  21. Mike - Did a track day a few years ago at Putnam with a friend who had a Zetec SV. Came in after a session with similar sounds. We hoped (for probably no good reason) that it was a top end problem. It wasn't. Scored bearings and bent con rods. Cause was never really determined. It was an expensive fix. Hope your diagnosis is better and cheaper. Steve
  22. Don't see any price info for the suites on the NJMP site. Approx. cost per night? Never mind. Just found the online reservation for the suites. Looks like $109/night.
  23. Used my new Hybrid Pro Rage at a track day two weekends ago, and discovered after the second session that the exposed bolts on the back of the restraint had removed the finish on the leather seat. I put tape over both the screws on the restraint and my seat, and I think that prevented further damage. Could be worse, but obviously not thrilled. Steve
  24. According to their web site AIM has 3 245/60-15 CR500's available, and they are only $150 each. http://www.aimtire.com/typ_category.asp?Unique=41018.5607407407&ObjectID=6682
  25. It's also been posted on Bring-a-trailer: http://bringatrailer.com/2012/04/02/real-deal-1962-lotus-seven/ Steve
