  1. Hi, I recently finished building my 2018 280S so I checked the parts lists. According to my list, the fuel pump for both the Sigma and Duratec are the same. Stock Code # 36T004A Bin # OD1 that's how it's shown on my parts list, if it's not the actual number I'm sure someone at Caterham can get it for you. Hope this helps.

    Snaps

Moss motors has them two separate parts https://mossmotors.com/snap-assembly-female?assoc=79588 https://mossmotors.com/snap-male-with-screw?assoc=79579 You'll probably need the tool also. https://mossmotors.com/snap-fastening-tool
  3. Actually, I believe your lights are correct for a USA spec car. Being that there are no rear red side marker lights that indicate the rear of the car from a side view at night, (Those were required by Fed. Law since 1968) I'm thinking it's best to leave them as is. When I put mine together just recently, I almost mounted them with the yellow turn signal on the outside, then realized there was no red quarter lights on the cars' sides. So I put the yellow inboard. I'm sure it would never be a real issue but what the heck. Kenny
  4. We're taking the Caterham to Watkins Glen for the Vintage Festival on the Friday after Labor Day. http://www.grandprixfestival.com We'll spend the whole weekend there. Hopefully some of you might make it. We usually hang at the Seneca Lodge for drinks and dinner, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We go every year, it's a great time. We'll be doing a tour of the 6.6 mile original "Old Course" with the "Lotus Owners of N.Y. / LOONY's" should be a blast!
  5. Is any of this cited in law or is bubba the inspector free to call the shots as he sees fit? Did you read the motor vehicle requirements for your state beforehand? A thousand times... The laws are very vague. The inspector that certified it never even questioned it. All the paperwork was filed and sent to the state. Apparently it landed on the desk of someone who must have been having a bad hair day. The state is the one who interpreted the law their own way. Over and done with, i found my own way of dealing with them. Score one for the good guys! I'm assuming you have the BMW diff? Yes it's the BMW. I wrote to Caterham about it but they were no help. They told me it was because of the limited slip diff.... I don't have a limited slip diff. You can imagine what i thought about that... Anyway, i rechecked the suspension in the rear, Checked the trans mount, prop shaft, DeDion tube, sway bar, re-tighened the big nuts on the rear axle, diff mounts, etc. One thing I did notice was the trunk floor was resting on the top of, or within thousandths, of the diff. I managed to pry the floor up and put a piece of rubber in between as an insulator. Haven't driven it yet so we'll see if anything I did helped.
  6. It's barely noticeable and seems to be going away now that the pressure is off of it. Or it's just wishful thinking... LOL. I'll get a pic. Love it! My wife and I just went for a nice tour. About 60 miles. Wellsboro to a little town called Slate Run. Great restaurant there over looks Pine Creek. Route 414. Beautiful twisty run that follows Pine Creek from the Wellsboro area down to Jersey Shore, PA. Slate Run is not quite halfway. Puma shoes are working fantastic. No more aggravation with the pedals. Noticed a small clunk you hit the throttle, in gear, after coasting a lit. Sounds like suspension clunk. Comes after a glide then hitting the throttle. I'll get it on the lift and check her over. If anyone has any thoughts please chime in. Thanks! Happy Motoring Kenny
  7. Well I ran into an issue with my car. I put on about 85 miles so far and while washing it yesterday I notice a tiny dimple on the nose cone. It was coming from the inside out! So I pulled out in the shop and removed the hood. I peeked under the nose cone and it appears the nut on the top of the radiator has been rubbing on the nose cone. That's not good for either part. I pulled the nose off and tried to adjust the radiator more toward the passenger side. The mounting flanges on the rad have slots in them, so I moved the rad as far as I could...about a 1/2", but that wasn't going to do it. It's still dangerously close. I wound up drilling new holes just above the slots on the radiator flanges and lowered the rad about 3/8" on the drivers side. That did the trick. I couldn't lower the passenger side because the lower radiator hose would be dangerously close to hitting the frame. All is well...for now. How was the trip to NJMP? Got any pics up yet?
  8. Well... Time for an update. After a very frustrating month and a half, I finally got my plate, title and registration. I was denied the first time around because of "no license plate frame" Really? Perhaps if I had a plate I would put it in a frame! Also they circled the exhaust pipe in between the muffler and the cat, along with our super cool exhaust headers that feed into the collector on the cat. They said that they need to be "shielded" WTF. Soooo of to Lowes to get some 6" aluminum corrugated ducting and this is what I came up with. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15591&stc=1 As for the license plate frame, I borrowed the one off my wife's MINI Cooper. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15592&stc=1 I had my local State Representative involved at this point and he sent it in. This past Friday, 10 days later, I got all my gear! Come Saturday morning, with much joy I ripped all that crap off the exhaust, mounted my plate and went to get the car inspected again... No problem this time around and I'm off for a Blat! I put around 50 miles on it Saturday and Sunday. I'm headed over to one of my customers to get the front end alignment checked per spec. There isn't any issue with the handling at all but I want to be sure so I don't wind up scrubbing the tires off in case I screwed something up! LOL Happy Motoring! Kenny
  9. Thanks Bruce! Very cool. I wish this was available when I ordered mine back in November '17. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15353&stc=1
  10. I'd love to try that sometimes Tom. Unfortunately, I'm going on vacation that week. I know, poor planning on my part... What is the requirement for roll cages? My 7 only has the standard cage on it. I never really intended on taking the car. Kenny
  11. Well, I finally got my car "Enhanced Inspected" on Saturday. Everything is in PennDot's hands now. Hopefully it'll be 2-3 weeks and I'll have my plate and title. It will be registered as a 2018 with a "Specially Constructed" Title. It will be awesome to take it down the road and start cruisin'. I downloaded the alignment spec's, so my first blat will be down to the alignment shop and have it checked out. Can't wait! Kenny
  12. Great work John, I just finished my build and tried to bum one off Derek with Caterham but I think he blew me off.. PM sent
  13. Congratulations Bruce! When is your due date? LOL What other options did you go for if any? Keep us posted. I'm very happy for you and I hope you love building it. I know I did! If you have any questions please ask! Kenny
  14. Thanks guys! I'll check it out! I'm only a size nine regular width. Those look great btw! I see some comments that they run small. Any suggestions? I was smiling when I saw this because my hockey skates are the opposite. I wear a size 9 shoe but in hockey skate sizes, I wear a size 7-1/2 ! If I wore a nine I'd be skating on my ankles LOL. Kenny
  15. Hi, For what its worth, when I replaced the clutch in my 89 Esprit, I had went to an outfit called Buffalo Clutch. I used to work at as a mechanic for a drilling company up there and I had some issues with off the shelf clutches. Guys would just tear them up. I discovered this place a few years before when I worked as a mechanic at a small mom and pop shop. The owner, had a customer with a 427 Corvette that kept blowing the clutches up. He finally got sick of it and went to Buffalo Clutch and had a custom clutch built. I put it in and never had to replace it again. I called them and told them what I had and if it was possible to build a clutch for me. Here is what they built me.. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15178&stc=1 He offered me 3 choices, the original fiber disc, a 12 button cerametallic disc or 16 button cerametallic disc. I had them put 16 cerametallic buttons on the disc. 8 per side. He explained that the 16 would engage a lot smoother vs. the 12. The disc is 9 inch by the way and 8.5mm thick. They also rebuilt the pressure plate, all for $288! I'm sure they can do whatever you would like. They are very easy to work with and can do anything related to clutch's and brake linings. 716-892-2828 Kenny
  16. Well, I'm finished, over the weekend I finally figured out the jigsaw puzzle of carpet pieces.. LOL Everything glued in place, cover over the fuel filler neck and the washer bottle is mounted. Instead of putting it on the cheese wedge cover for the fuel filler, I went up to my wife's sewing room and snagged some Velcro and mounted it to the carpet on the side of the boot, between the cheese wedge and the boot wall. Trunk is small enough without having that bottle sticking out. I put about 6 miles on it so far ramming it up and down the road I live on. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a blast! It is so cool to see the cycle wings and suspension working! I finally found a pair of shoes that work... damn, that peddle box is tight! First couple trips it was very awkward, hitting the brake and gas at the same time... wow. Little weird, I may wind up buying some racing shoes, we'll see. I ran the build clock up to about 92 hours, not too bad considering some of the "redo's" that I ran into thanks to the build guide. As I've said before it's been a great experience. My wife loves it and has been super supportive through the entire build. She's the one that told me to buy one. She's a keeper for sure! Kenny
  17. I've done some research on the penndot website. It appears that I'm able to drive it to an inspection station with no sticker, or an expired sticker. However, it's supposed to be registered.... how can it be registered without an initial inspection.... very weird. I'm just going to drive it there. I live out in the woods, sometimes I don't see a trooper for weeks. My wife will follow me, I have insurance and I'll take a copy of the pub from PennDot. Plus all my paperwork. I don't think it will be an issue. They are pretty decent around here.
  18. Thanks! I'm going to see the inspection guy on Tuesday and get things rolling. I'm hoping maybe I can entice him to come to my place and do it here. I don't know... I don't have a trailer so this could be a giant pain in the butt! Or I may have to buy a trailer. We'll see....
  19. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15169&stc=1http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15170&stc=1 Pretty much done, waiting for the bonnet stripe kit, of to get it inspected and insured!
  20. I've shown them pictures of the build all along and finished ones from Google even when I first told them I bought a component car to build a year and a half ago. I'm pretty sure it won't be an issue. Fingers crossed...lol Kenny
  21. Should be no problem. This is from the inspection handbook: Check the bumpers and REJECT IF one or more of the following apply: (i) The bumper, if required as original equipment, is not on the vehicle. The place where I'm taking it does Enhanced Vehicle Inspection. Required for new construction or rebuilding of salvage vehicles. They are customers of mine and they are a notary service so they can handle all the titling paperwork as well. I've been talking with them all along and they've recently inspected a Cobra kit with no issues. And I found this from the specially constructed vehicle inspection: Bumpers - A vehicle specified under this subchapter shall be equipped with front and rear bumpers securely attached to the chassis, except when the original body configuration provided by a recognized manufacturer did not include bumpers in the design of the vehicle.
  22. I went thru my notes and I'm wrong. After the work I completed yesterday, putting on the stone guards, and some taping of the games under the hood, I'm up to 84 hrs. The only thing I've got left to do on the car is glue the cycle wings down and the carpet in the boot. Then of to get the enhanced inspection. I see you're from SE PA, I'm up Wellsboro. We're are you located? How did you title and register your car? Looks like mine wil have Special Constructed title. Not sure yet. Do you have any insight?
  23. You may be able to access the reverse switch, but this is the e-brake switch. Besides I would've had to peel off the carpet that I just put on. And you'd have to have baby hands. LOL. That's funny you had the same issue! Must be at the other end somewhere because the colors of the wires on both sides of the plugs were correct. Oh well!
