  1. Wow. It just can't stop killing itself. It survived against all odds with a $5 website into 20'teens and then started charging for car ads which was beginning of end. Facebook is the current leader for sales of misc stuff.
  2. Are you looking at SV models or S3? The green one appears to be SV I'm 5ft 7 and have no issues with teaching pedals in an S3 for what it's worth
  3. Why break new cars when I can just break old ones? Seems like a lot of effort for same paperweight result. But yeah seems like nobody other than new owners can get those..
  4. Awww the impossible to get key fob! Can you order an extra and ship to NY? I'll cover =)
  5. Didn't know that I should consider myself "fancy street trim" for having rear carpet SLR I am clearly not!
  6. Got the new ECU in. Same symptoms. No start. Still no communication from software to ECU to run. Does connect to it though. Voltage in ECU software still showing as 9.Xv when battery is 13.3v. Checked the pin thats supposed to be 12v input and it's reading 0.2v. Further troubleshooting tba. Was hoping for a miracle, it didn't happen. New ECU is likely good but hasn't been pre tested... Do have a new engine harness sitting now to potentially put in
  7. Some of us choose to ignore this requirement At any point in time my car is in violation of at least 6 different regulations. What's one more to the list? Been pulled over twice so far, got one misc unrelated ticket. In my experience 7s get treated like a hot rod and very lenient on, unlike some tuner car with a youngster driving it. Or maybe I just aged myself out of the ticket age and now I'm that old fart that cops go easy on.
  8. Let's be frank. Only locals with cash in hand had a chance on something like that. Not sure what the odds are of it being on BaT for a flip or whether the new owner will make themselves known here.
  9. Right? Birkin Is a bargain considering the engine I wanted to see the VIN as it doesn't have typical US SLR engine ITB package or wheels, but we know US SLRs can be spec'ed wildly compared to UK. It does have the plaque and the CF nosecones which are tell tale signs of an SLR package. That car is a good deal but will be a fair amount of work to be reliable. New owner only put a few hundred miles on it and I can't be certain they were trouble free. Car sat for a long time with little use and from personal experience there will be a number of gaskets, hoses and other rubber components In need of maintenance. It piqued my curiosity due to how close it was to my location.
  10. I hung up the phone with him right before I posted. I was casually curious as I knew it was under valued but theres no chance I could be there today with cash and trailer to pick it up which is typically how these things go. He said he can interest all the way from Mexico, to Canada to England.
  11. Don't know if you got it or somebody else but it didn't take long to be gone Gentleman said at one point he had 12 people in the driveway and 2 people in the garage haggling over it. People found his residence without him listing any details and showed up 270 emails over it in less than 24 hours Crazy Hopefully a member bought it and maybe see it in NJMP? It's a mass resident. I'm personally curious what the vin on it is and what the SLR plaque looks like.
  12. Seems to be the basic 130hp @ crank VCT Zetec. Non stock exhaust helps it breathe a little better.

  16. Caterham and Lotus 7 Club's 40th Anniversary meeting walkabout.
  17. Project Lightened Flywheel - Part 1
  18. Yeah that's about the lowest going rate I would expect for it especially as time goes on.
  19. Came across this thing again in basement. Anybody want it before I chuck it? Can also bring to NJMP if I end up making it there
  20. If you guys go to like a store you take your steering wheel? Even if I take it off I'd put it in the trunk or under seat or something
  21. Since a 7 is very close to being a bike, it comes with a lot of bike problems Bikers often have a problem with strangers feeling empowered enough to sit on somebody else's bike I've caught a girl posing in my 7 outside a bar for a picture before Things can't be prevented with ease and it just sort of comes with territory It's like a an exotic car owner complaining about everybody constantly taking pictures of them anywhere they go. Desired? Maybe, maybe not. Should this be expected with purchase? Most certainly. With all that said I don't think I've ever taken my steering wheel. In some context areas I would consider mounting my tonneau cover before leaving.
  22. Sometimes I take it Sometimes I don't I'd feel a lot easier leaving it in it if I have my spare with me in the trunk
  23. Haggerty is typical biggest insurer for track day insurance. There are others. I believe rule of thumb is 1% of car value per day. So a $60k car would be $600. Just like anything else it's a cost benefit. Would it be worth it if you're afraid of fender bender and minor damage? $1200 probably not. Are you afraid of totalling it? Then sure. Typically there is lots of run off and contact is extremely rare. Spin out in a 620 is likely however for a new driver
