  2. Congrats. What ballpark neck of the woods? Something close enough to NJMP to make it there for the yearly gathering?
  3. Carmudgeon show Caterham mention @4:45 "if you HAD to buy a new car for fun today - what would it be? key word "for fun"

  7. " If the car world was a bar, then this is the drink you order by saying “f**k me up, guvna.” It’s the equivalent of punching through a glass window to quell your aggression. It’s death by snoo snoo. It’s…you get my point. Distill all the best parts of driving to its very essence, remove all the quality of life upgrades, and you’re left with a Caterham. The nutjob 620S popped my @caterhamcarsltd cherry. And that car was certifiably insane. It left me wanting less, which was…novel. And so when the offer to test the non-supercharged one came my way, I grabbed at it. The 360S. 180bhp, 2.0l Ford engine, a 5-speed manual, and Goldmember-approved paint. Same power and price as a fully spec’d MX-5, but half the weight, no steering assist and a seat that feels like your bum is about to get road rash it’s so wonderfully low. If you can forgive the rattles, the buzzes and the vibrations (of which there are many, CONSTANTLY), then driving doesn’t really get more engaging, no matter the price. Never has a car heightened the feeling of acceleration and lessened the feeling of deceleration so much. And in that ratio, lies joy. This setup is more manageable at low speeds than the 620 and still plenty of power. Doesn’t sound as good though. Couple that with so much torque down low, and the desire to rev it out isn’t as high either. Maybe the 420 fixes that character a bit? Also, as wonderful as it is, it took living with it to miss one of the things I love most about driving: pairing it with music. Turns out, giving up speakers for a Caterham is something I’d struggle with (and no, airpods are not a fix I accept). Seats were comfortable enough, the ride…fine (It’s based on a 50s race car, what do you want) and the shifting experience a delight. And I didn’t even get an opp’ to go sideways this time These are priced more fairly in the UK. Before my loan I asked some peers why more UK car Journos don’t own them as a palette cleanser, and I was told “because you never end up driving them as much as you’d like.” Having now spent time with one, I get it. An MX-5 is better for 95% of use cases, but for that last 5%, the Caterham is king. @jamesengelsman Edited · 3d "
  8. This came out for Miatas but I'm sure it can be used in a 7 just the same https://www.minottek.com/ Not cheap at nearly $600 but still cheaper than Ferrari/Lambo pricing for a similar experience in shifting @Croc can tell us why this shifter is likely not ideal for track applications or even daily use but its certainly cool points
  9. Video in thread New York highway : whatisthiscar
  10. Back to stock non CSR fenders for now. The fix for the CSR mount just happened after yet another left side fender or mount failure at NJMP I prefer CSR styling wise and will swap again
  11. Actually drove today
  12. Just read comments and took a look at the car. Not surprised it didn't meet reserve. The car looks like a solid $30-$35k car.
  13. Without reading comments or reading too much into it, I can see that the engine pictured in the car is indeed SVT. (Tell tale valve cover). I think confusion might have come from the fact that Contour had a VCT engine and people might get those confused by similarities of lettering.
  14. Seller says he's resending it in a fixed format
  15. Alright I got a good one Ordered this And then had real world equivalent of the wish.com meme ....
  16. Some of these need to go into the swag thread..
  17. Would you call this chapter/mission closed? Is this a sufficient replacement for original super blue? I still haven't tried my powder.
  18. I realized I posted this to wrong thread. This was supposed to go to video thread. I'm waiting on marketing pictures from creator and I'll make a thread to see who's interested. There's about a 5% discount if we get five people. It's not considerable but better than nothing. Trying to sort out shipping.
  19. Please consider giving your bounty to @JohnCh to support the site and help create this cumulative help effort or become a premium member for the next 5 years (or both).
  20. It sure has been a few years. Glad to hear about the progress! Double check your picture embedding, shows up as a black picture for me? Maybe we can meet up for a coffee somewhere or one of the car and coffee events. The Scotia airport one should be right by you?
  21. Caterham 7 LED Grill Light Modification Owner is open to a group buy if enough people are interested. I'm pending one as a wall decoration
  22. I'm going out on a limb and assume it's missing downstream o2 which is somewhat common on cats
  23. I don't think these symptoms match the problem and resolution described but I'll gladly be proven wrong if he goes down this path and resolves the issue. I went for probably 5 years with my cutting out issues and only recently mostly resolved it down to being a poor fuel map issue on the ECU. One of the most critical points to an intermittent issue troubleshooting is being able to recreate the fault conditions on demand and proceed with partitioning from then on.
  24. You're also commiting to ripping out a fuel pump without a replacement or verifying that it's bad? Seems strange. Why not get an electric fuel pressure gauge and quickly mock it up? If the fuel pressure goes to 0 when this happens then yeah it's likely a pump. If the fuel pressure remains steady at 40 then I wouldn't be so quick to commit to a pump change. Either way fuel pump still has no relevance to your rpms dropping to 0/tach dying unless you're describing that wrong. Can you provide a report of what troubleshooting/testing/partitioning been done since this thread started? Do you have those engine bay pictures?
