It was a geopolitical comment relevant to the current administration blanket calling everybody fools for questioning tariffs efficiency. Nobody on the site. Source -

At a risk of taking this into political spectrum beyond the subject inherently being so, I'd like to state that I do not like to be called a "fool" for being a critic of this tariff game.

Very true. The PVC trick is pretty clever. For additional context, the location where trailers are stored isn't a location where insurance is an option as it isn't a dwelling. I forgot to mention I throw/hide Airtags into the trailers and put cheap stickers on them saying they are GPS tracked. I know Airtags are not meant as a tracker for stolen devices which is why they notify non-owners when they are present and traveling with them, but that also works in my favor. If the air tag notifies people that it's present, it can make the juice not worth the squeeze and the trailer might end up getting abandoned instead of searching for the tag. Plus I don't have to disable them every time I grab the trailer and are quite cost effective @ $20 each or so with a replicable generic battery that lasts a year. I know some people disable the beeper that makes them easier to locate but I haven't gone that far yet.

@IamScotticus just brought up in another thread a subject that's been topical for me recently. As of yesterday I now own 4 trailers of various shapes and sizes and none of them are stored at my house so security is of concern for me. They sit for most of the year without use so having them locked up for most of the year isn't much of an inconvenience. I know any lock can actually be defeated with enough will and 18v batteries on angle grinder but I also know that theft is a crime of opportunity and any lock is better than no lock especially if the trailer is not being particularly targeted. I've used the HF lock before and its okay but I've been getting a lot of ads for the more serious type of lock of this brand or the "big brand" of the same type thats ever more expensive Also have considered putting a chain through the wheels with some other chain lock as secondary measure. Anybody have experiences or opinions?

Price and availability will always be crucial but I'm down. I think I have 3000 street miles and 12? Track days on these toyos. Never did anything bad just don't like the lob sides sizing between front and back. My backup avons have been waiting for so long they have aged out of track use (5 year limit) so I need a new set

For what it's worth, I've had one cylinder grossly out of temp over the years that I shot with a thermal gun in my thread. Then over the years troubleshooting thing it has moved to a different cylinder but still not resolved. It bothered me so much I bought a FLIR gun for myself instead of borrowing it. Pictures are in the thread somewhere

So his is actually different. There were two sizes offered in three Varieties. One for SLR 13s and other two for 15s and 16s that came either as a fixed solid metal unit or one that where the center cap with the 7 popped into the bigger center cap. I actually do have a spare metal one I ordered from UK that doesn't fit me and will fit this wheel. It helped me gather all this knowledge on the most trivial thing on the planet. I don't see any reason to sell it but I also have no reason to keep it at this point either. In a pinch I guess I could modify it to fit by cutting the outer ring small to fit my dimension as these are a rare commodity and I'm having a hard time with replacements as you can see in thread above. Took me about 3 years to track down a set from UK. They come up on occasion on ebay.

Found my 7 year old post discussing this matter in more detail as it remembered I did an indepth analysis at some point. "Caterham in particular is known to be loosy goosy with their numbers to achieve the R400/R500/620R 1) They use a metric ton vs regular ton (2240 pounds) 2) I believe and I could be wrong that the weight is dry and typically without other options. (If you order your R400 and add heater option, obviously weight goes up, P/W goes down but it remains R"400") 3) The engine numbers are crank numbers, while most of the people who build and modify their cars use wheel HP numbers 4) Even if the numbers don't add up exactly, R400 sounds a lot better than R393... For fun math R420 = 420hp/ton ~210hp Duratec crank (likely optimistic to begin with)/1240 lbs = R378 (using crank #) We area already at way lower number than the plaque and that is stock, using their own numbers provided on the website. Start adding other common features that don't come with that 1240 lbs standard spec. + dry sump + LSD + weather equipment + heater + windshield washer + carpet + SAE Roll bar (thicker) etc etc. Lets even say this will add 100 lbs, we are already an "R350". Point is, my "superlight" (In quotes as I have carpet, wet sump, windshield washer, tools in the back, weather gear + gas/fluids) as it sits now could likely be the equivalent 300hp/ton or less an I won't care cause its still a blast and its still fast. Edit X2: I dug deeper and this is what I found (see attachment) They actually openly list that they are realistically 375ps per tonne for the R420. 620S is "Power-to-weight: 508bhp-per-tonne" 270 is one of the most "honest ones" Power-to-weight: 254 bhp-per-tonne Source: http://us.caterhamcars.com/cars/seven-270"

Caterham plays fast and loose with their math of numbering. The math should be Hp/Ton but they use arbitrary picked and rounded up HP and they use a metric ton. If your unit is claimed to have 210hp on paper then by their math it would indeed fall between 360 and 420 they just didn't have that numbering system for Zetec years.

Great to hear you're enjoying it. It's certainly a memorable chapter in life to own a 7. You're right about your gearing. Not sure what fix for you is but my gearing is tall first and short all others after in 6spd. Works very well. As far as mounts, I can't speak for Birkin design but Caterham failure point is typically glue not the actual mounts. They are one piece with round tubing and no particular weak points. As far as adaptation I'm sure it can be done but won't be direct or easy.

If you have a phone made in the last 10 years you can easily take pictures of the 18 pages if you're willing to put in the effort and those can easily be converted into PDF/Scan files. If you're willing to put a tiny bit more effort there are many apps that act as a scanner too.
