  1. I still have more shock adjustment available... out of 24 clicks, I had both R & C at 10, then both at 20, now R = 20, C=10. I can loosen up compression more to perhaps resolve the wheel hop problem, but don't know the effect on transient handling. One problem is I don't get enough seat time in places where I can really test this stuff.

    John Madden

    Great skit
  3. Tom, it's possible the actual lever ratio of the springs are different. In mine, when I had inboard, the ratio was 1" suspension travel = 1.1" spring travel, so I was running 225 lb/ in. now it's about 1"=.56", so much stiffer springs...
  4. Back in the day, if skins had even a 7 point lead at half time, the game was basically over. they ALWAYS pulled away in the 2nd half. This year, they blew a 14 point lead against the Gmen, did it again 2 weeks ago, and almost blew a 21-6 lead in the 3rd quarter against the Cardinals. :nonod:
  5. somehow I need a built-in heated air system for the tires :leaving:
  6. I'm bidding on a set of used Kodiak wheels for a vette on ebay right now... I can't afford new ones at the moment ($3k). if that doesn't work, i will find a set of used vette wheels for mounting slicks. But the heat problem will be the same. I'm not after the ultimate autox machine anyway, so I guess it's all relative. Dave, your point definitely makes sense about going narrower. My car is about 400 lbs heavier than yours, and I'm running similar springs all around (200 or 225 in the rear, and 425 in front right now - although I'm not sure if our lever ratios are the same). If I lived closer to Al, I'd drive over there and escort him to the autox
  7. well, you could at the start of your first run, I suppose. Can't do it in the staging area. Plus, warming up the rear without the front, will make the car push more.
  8. heh, you saw my problem first hand... my tires are as cold after the run, as they are before.
  9. That was the first thing I tried... went from 375 to 425. I think it made some marginal improvement, but biggest improvement was backing off the compression so far.
  10. yeah, that's what I meant. Bummer.
  11. Dick's roll bar is sweet. How's the event going?
  12. Dean, good luck with the new club. Feel free to post up your events here, and pictures, etc... Hopefully I'll make it down for a couple. -Mazda
  13. just an idea, but if it has EVERYTHING else, see if there are any other differences between the regular 3800 stalkers and the super stalker. Then drop in a properly built 3800 SC
  14. not sure if there was anything in the rules against them. since my tires are [caugh]oversized[/caugh] it'd make a huge difference for me.
  15. when you know you're gonna get a spankin' in a week and can't do jack about it. My beloved skins will be hitching a ride up north to Foxboro stadium next week    Here's what happened to the Dolphins today beat down
  16. At the point I bought the QA1's I was not anywhere near the point of tuning the car... I needed to get my piece of junk on the road. I stumbled on QA1 because Rotus used to use Carrera shocks, which is now QA1. These do have seperate adjustments for rebound and compression... 24 clicks on each. I don't recall the model number of the shocks. I don't see an obvious way of adjusting the pressure in the shocks. The reason I brought up sway bars, is that it seems to let the shocks do their dampening, I need some wheel travel, however, I would still like to keep body lean under control, and sway bars would help me achieve that. Perhaps my roll center is too far from my center of gravity? I am NOT experienced in this stuff, so my advice is... um... free, and you know what they say about that...
  17. under solo rules?

    Worn out

Yes Arya, thanks for the update. Sleeping on a chair in his room for a week is starting to take its toll on Gail and I... and when we get home, Ryan -holy terror- Ebrahimi is ready to get in high gear  Last night the freaking room temp was stuck on 55 :ack:. My bones are still cold b/c the chair is next to the vent. So I tell the nurse and she adjusts the thermostat, but the damn thing is still blowing cold air. Cameron is doing much better though, but I think he got sick again when I showed him his pile of homework
  19. hosting it personally IS worth it.
  20. Not in my garage I'm fine with a regular smallish car battery. I will relocate it to the back, in front of the rear axle. Good for center of gravity, and out of the way.
  21. I have not. I will have to do that. backing off the compression on the shocks made a huge improvement. I'm starting to think maybe my car will benefit from a sway bar too.
  22. I can only wish it was 600 kg. My car should weigh right about 1750 lbs (about 800 kg) without driver in its current config. At the last autox I ran about 18 PSI.
  23. welcome aboard. Corrected your message
