  1. This moron was one block away from PD and FD training facility
  2. AtomFest, great post. and thanks for the complements on the forum. Also, :seeya: from a fellow vette guy. I'm getting a roll cage on my seven over this winter, so hopefully I'll be able to do some track days next year, although I'll be a n00b at the track. I will only be able to make it to VIR and Summit Point - time is a limitation with little ones running around the Slngsht household BTW, a SMALL group of us are doing a blat on sept 15/16 from DC to Snowshoe Mountain in WV... Any Atom owners are welcomed to join us (if they don't mind being usa7s club members for $20 a car for insurance reasons). What you will find if you read this forum is that our membership is pretty open to all types of cars... including ALL types of Sevens. That is one of founding principals (believe me, that is not true for every Seven related online community / listserv :nonod: ). The topic of the resale vaule of our cars rarely comes up here, frankly because none of us care. We have these cars because we enjoy them, whether it's the 65K variety or the 1K variety. I wish you could have been there at our 7/7/7 meet to witness it first hand. With that background, we kinda frown upon "xyz did a locost b/c that's what he can afford mentality" (which BTW, is NOT referring to your post). I know I, for one, will really enjoy hanging out with a fellow car nut who happens to drive an Atom any time. Thanks again for your post.
  3. Hi, and welcome aboard... do you know anything about your current tank? Can you take off the filler neck and take a look inside to see if there is any baffling in it at all? Does this happen even when the tank is full?
  4. good. we don't want to encourage this behavior. If you see them picking on one of those sevens give 'em :boxing:
  5. I left the light nice and easy... THEN he took off to prove something. There was no head nod or anything. Well, maybe there was, but I wasn't looking.
  6. I have to remember to use that one next time a situation like this comes up
  7. After I parted company with Dermot on Sunday, some retard in a Black WRX (not even STi) decided to show me how fast his ride is from the traffic light. While I enjoy the occasional spirited drives, racing on the street is just stupid. Even average sports cars today build speed fast enough to get you in trouble quick. Anyway, I half throttled it up to the speed limit while his turbos were wiiiiiiiiiishing next to my ear and he went on his way. I'm probably posted in the Kills section of some Subaru forum by now This is the 2nd time I've had something like this come up. The other was a Mustang in traffic on I-495 Honestly, I expected to get more of this with the vette than the seven.
  8. Maverick1, welcome aboard. Not trying to start a flame war between Atoms and Sevens... I wouldn't turn down owning one, but I doubt anyone here is "jealous" of the Atom. I have a semi long list of "ultimate cars" I can afford, and the very top of that list is occupied by the Ultima and Radical SRx (not sure in which order)- not the Atom. I would say Atom is somewhere in the top 10-15 cars that are realistically affordable. The order of my list isn't purely performance though. I saw a Fisher Fury for the first time in person the other day. All I can say is WOW. That's on the list. What I really enjoy about my Seven is that I can (and have) hack it and reconfigure it, and it's a fantastic DIY car. Not something most people do to their cars, but again, that's just me. The thing about Sevens is that, well, it's sort of like a box of chocolates. You never know what ya' gonna get . Some day you run into a 120hp variety, another day it'll be a 400hp variety. I realize there is a variety of options on Atoms as well (I think someone mentioned a 500 hp Atom - should be a blast), so to some extent the same is true. It's easy, and somewhat entertaining to play keyboard warriors when comparing endless configurations of these cars. The Atom IS more flashy than a Seven for sure - then again, I'm not a flashy kinda guy. .02 deposited.
  9. ooh, I got one... tin top... refers to normal cars
  10. Dermot's car was simply amazing. Google "Fisher Fury" for more stats.
  11. That Al guy sure does get around
  12. looks like some nice driving roads, and NOT ONE SINGLE CAR in any of your shots. I don't believe that's possible on the east coast. So many blats, so little time
  13. another one makes it safe and sound.
  14. man, all these n00bs showing up with their fancy sevens :jester: That thing looks awesome. Congrats.
  15. Ottocycle needs an engine checked out... See post #3 here.
  16. If the timing works, i'll bring Frankn7 at the same time.
  17. Got a PM from OttoCycle after 10 PM last night to see if I could join a little blat. He really had to twist my arm Met up at 9:30. The cars there were a Toyota Supra Turbo, Detomaso Pantera, Morgan Plus4, Ottocycle's Busa powered Fisher Fury (I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS CAR), and my car. Apparently a Nobel M400 was supposed to be there too, but he couldn't make it. Anyway, I found out my camera was almost full, so I only have a few pics. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1297077403_CIMG1787.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1149107525_CIMG1788.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/724977061_CIMG1789.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/2089867420_CIMG1790.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1103585468_CIMG1793.JPG Unfortunately no shots of the yellow Pantera. Dermott, thanks for the invite. I had a blast. That beast is quick, and beautiful.
  18. so many amazing pictures
  19. Interesting... If your weights are not the same on the 2 front wheels, wouldn't the expected behavior be for the wheel with more weight to lock up after the one with less weight?
  20. Curious about the Atom... how's the aerodynamics in terms of downforce?
  21. Alright... Saturday night menu. Do you guys prefer sitting at a resturaunt/pub, or by a camp fire / BBQ? Camp fire menu would be marinaded chicken and filet kabobs, grilled veggies. We have choices in resturaunts as well.
  22. We can all use a little sorting like that
  23. heck, since i have a heavy seven that doesn't handle, I'll drag race the damn thing
  24. Al, the corvette crowd does this concept annually - it's called the cruise-in... they gather at Bowling Green, KY, where the factory is. In our case a more central location would be better.
