  2. despite all their problems, domestics continue to close the gap.
  3. drove frankn7 to work today. we have an intern who started a couple of weeks ago. I can see the car from my window. she drove in, took a look, came upstairs. around lunch time, I heard her talking to one of the guys: "Did you see that half-car parked out there? who would drive that?". The guys cracked up with a big bellowing BWAHAHAHA that you could hear all around the office and walked her over. Needless to say, she was a little , and we had a few laughs over it. When I left in the afternoon I told one of the guys I'm gonna go see if I can find the other half
  4. Done. Cheers.
  5. oh yeah. what's the power to weight? if you're making crazy power, dumping the clutch at WOT from a standing start won't work. Our cars just don't have the suspension setup to allow enough weight transfer. even if the car did not go sideways when spinning tires, spinning tires like crazy won't result in the best times. You'd have to "dial-in" a launch RPM (which will change based on pavement, temperature, etc...), bring up the motor to that RPM, then launch - you'll have to experiment with feathering the clutch a little, say - go to full engage in 15 feet, or whatever. Trial and error, but that's the fun. I know I strayed from the info you were asking.
  6. I found this old video of my car - doing what you describe http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/0to60Compressed.wmv It's either doing it less now, or I've just learned how to roll into the throttle to compensate.
  7. If you don't have a bump steer gauge, you can visually see what the suspension is doing by taking the spring off, and using a jack to move it through it's range of motion. if there is significant toe change, you'll be able to see it by just looking at the wheel. I DOUBT if this is the source of your problems, but it's an easy check. I think stiff shocks definitely contribute to the problem. At the very least, the car won't be so easy to unhook when you take off.
  8. making it soft will help with weight transfer, so you can try that. That's why road racing cars are a little wild - like vid above - and drag cars just hook. you can measure the toe vs suspension travel with a bump steer gauge.
  9. how does the toe change with suspension travel? do you get some toe-out under compression?
  10. I think what you're experiencing is not unusual. Here's a road racing vette trying to take off at the drag strip. Does this look exactly like what you experience? what's your rear suspension setup?
  11. do you experience this only when there is wheel spin, or even if there is no wheel spin? the only way i have experienced what you describe is if I powershift from 1st to 2nd and completely blow away the tires. then the car will snap right. I have a TorSen diff.
  12. Congrats!

    our origins

A little girl asked her mother, "How did the human race appear?" The mother answered, "God made Adam and Eve and they had children, and so was all mankind made." Two days later the girl asked her father the same question. The father answered, "Many years ago there were monkeys from which the human race evolved." The confused girl returned to her mother and said, "Mom, how is it possible that you told me the human race was created by God, and Dad said they developed from monkeys?" The mother answered, "Well, dear, it is very simple. I told you about my side of the family and your father told you about his."
