  6. My day was slightly better... following a long weekend of attempted vacation (went to the mountains, but had to keep on emails, phone calls, etc...), Sunday was spent driving back. Took 6 hours on a drive that normally takes just over 4, coming back. My son threw up in the back along the way. Then I started work at 8PM again, until 2:30 in the morning.
  7. Used to have them when I was in college, and a couple of years after. Haven't had one since, and I think I've only gotten 3 or 4 tickets in the last 15 years.

  12. Associated Press Posted Jun 29, 2009 WARREN, OH — Police say an apparent thief was found dead inside an electric power substation after trying to use a hacksaw on copper wiring and causing power surges or outages to thousands of homes in northeast Ohio. Trumbull County Sheriff's Major Thomas Stewart says the male was found electrocuted early Monday and is about 20 years old. Stewart says the apparent motive was copper theft. Investigators haven't determined how entry was made into the Ohio Edison substation or whether there was an accomplice. The site is surrounded by barbed wire and has warning signs. FirstEnergy spokesman Mark Durbin says approximately 2,000 homes lost power about 1:30 a.m. and power was restored about six hours later. http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:forums.corvetteforum.com/get/images/smilies/rolleyes5.gif

    Clunker bill

maybe not. I think the version the house passed does go back 3 months

    Clunker bill

well, yes, in terms of economic activity, it will be a success. sort of like a store declaring a sale, but charging you a surcharge at checkout to pay for the sale. I'm wish if they would do something like this, that the MPG improvement to qualify be greater than 5 MPG (less for pickups and SUVs).

    Clunker bill

NOTE: Serious discussion ONLY please - no name calling and no one line zingers. So, the house bill that passed (gone to senate now) gives incentives of $4500 or $3500 depending on how much your new purchase improves on the car or truck you're turning in. I have a few thoughts on the topic: 1- Although it's nice to get some tax money back, this program is financed by... well... us. so we are getting our own tax dollars back. So it's designed to jump start the auto industry by having us pay for it - again. 2- I think it will have a positive impact on energy consumption, so that's good. 3- For once, I'll qualify for a government handout  . Looks like my almost free Yukon was a wise investment 4- Looking at domestic manufacturers' lineup, it looks like they will loose again to Honda / Toyota on this deal. 5- If you have an old Suburban sitting around that you are not using, you should be able to get about $3K for it. So, how many here will take advantage of this deal? If so, what would you get rid of, and what would you replace it with? Jetta TDI is not looking bad to me. 22K, 1300 rebate for diesel fuel, 4500 for my Yukon trade-in.
