  1. It is a beauty and I'd love to have it but at $109k, short of a winning lotto ticket its never going to happen.
  2. My Caterham gets grocery getter duty from time to time. It also brought home four 8' 2 x 4s strapped to the roll bar. Got some really weird looks for that one.
  3. Exocets do not carry plywood but they do sometimes have warheads.
  4. There is a Lotus Type 30 with a Shelby Cobra engine under restoration near where I live. Its not for sale. It has a racing history and the general Lotus community believes the car doesn't exist anymore. Its a secret so don't pass it along. I have pictures but they are on my iPad and I can't figure out how to get them to the desk top computer. There are two Lotus Elevens on Hemmings for $109k each (but they may be the same car) and one Westfield Eleven. http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/eleven/1802529.html
  5. A bit off topic but here is a guide to help you select what brand of tools to buy:

  7. I don't think any Se7en qualifies for that.
  8. I googled "Formula 27 kit car" and came up with a lot of pictures but couldn't find a link to the manufacturer or dealers. There were mentions of them in Locost forums. They had an unusual leading link rear suspension and were sold as plans before someone started manufacturing kits.
  9. A man moves into a nudist colony. He receives a letter from his grandmother asking him to send her a current photo of himself in his new location. Too embarrassed to let her know that he lives in a nudist colony, he cuts a photo in half and mails it only the upper half. The next day he discovers that he accidentally sent the bottom half of the photo. He's really worried but then remembers how bad his grandmother's eyesight is, and hopes she won't notice. A few weeks later, he receives a letter from his Grandmother. It says: "Thank you for the picture. Change your hairstyle... It makes your nose look too short."
  10. What brand kit is that?
  11. The 1,000,000th Miata was produced on April 22nd. http://en.media.mazda.ca/2016-04-24-Mazda-Produces-One-Millionth-Mazda-MX-5
  12. Jim, You are either a very brave or foolish man to show that to your wife.
  13. ADVICE FROM BOB - A RETIRED HUSBAND It is important for men to remember that, as women grow older, it becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as when they were younger. When you notice this, try not to yell at them. Some are oversensitive, and there's nothing worse than an oversensitive woman. My name is BOB. Let me relate how I handled the situation with my wife. When I retired a few years ago, it became necessary for PEGGY to get a full-time job, along with her part-time job, both for extra income and for the health benefits that we needed. Shortly after she started working, I noticed she was beginning to show her age. I usually get home from the golf club about the same time she gets home from work. Although she knows how hungry I am, she almost always says she has to rest for half an hour or so before she starts dinner. I don't yell at her. Instead, I tell her to take her time and just wake me when she gets dinner on the table. I generally have lunch in the Men's Grill at the club, so eating out is not reasonable. I'm ready for some home-cooked grub when I hit that door. She used to do the dishes as soon as we finished eating. But now it's not unusual for them to sit on the table for several hours after dinner. I do what I can by diplomatically reminding her several times each evening that they won't clean themselves. I know she really appreciates this, as it does seem to motivate her to get them done before she goes to bed. Another symptom of aging is complaining, I think. For example, she will say that it is difficult for her to find time to pay the monthly bills during her lunch hour. But, Boys, we take 'em for better or worse, so I just smile and offer encouragement. I tell her to stretch it out over two, or even three days. That way, she won't have to rush so much. I also remind her that missing lunch completely now and then wouldn't hurt her any (if you know what I mean). I like to think that is one of my strong points. When doing simple jobs, she seems to think she needs more rest periods. She had to take a break when she was only half-finished mowing the yard. I try not to make a scene. I'm a fair man. I tell her to fix herself a nice, big, cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and just sit for a while. And, as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one for me, too. I know that I probably look like a saint in the way I support my wife. I'm not saying that showing this much consideration is easy. Many men will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible! Nobody knows better than I do how frustrating women get as they get older. However, Guys, even if you just use a little more tact and less criticism of your aging wife because of this article, I will consider that writing it was well worthwhile. After all, we are put on this earth to help each other. EDITOR'S NOTE: BOB died suddenly on July 24, 2010 of a perforated rectum. The police report says he was found with a Calloway extra-long 50-inch Big Bertha Driver II golf club jammed up his rear end, with barely 5 inches of grip showing, and a sledge hammer laying nearby. His wife was arrested and charged with murder. The all-woman jury took only 10 minutes to find her Not Guilty, accepting her defense that BOB, somehow without looking, accidentally sat down on his golf club.
  14. A Short Gun Story: A guy walked into a crowded bar, waving his pistol and yelled, "I have a .45 Colt with an eight shot clip and I want to know who's been sleeping with my wife." A voice from the back of the room called out, "You need more ammo!"
  15. I like it! Gives the car a whole new retro look. I'm guessing it would cut down on wind buffeting as well.

  18. Check and clean all your grounding points. Make sure you have a ground cable to the chassis as well as directly to the engine.

Taber, I didn't know there was one other than myself brave (foolish?) enough to ride with Dave. It doesn't surprise me as Joan was brave enough to drive the next leg of the GBB in the Bear Slayer Caterham after the six of us got it road worthy in a few hours using crude tools and a piece of rope to align the front end. Brave lady indeed.

RIP David. The GBB spent most of a day at his shop. We had a great time and some repairs were made on one of the Caterhams in his shop. Many local Se7en owners showed up with some very interesting cars including one with an Alfa Romeo drive train (the OPs 7?). David offered rides in his supercharged Hayabusa engined Caterham. I was the only one who took him up on it. It was a ride I will never forget. Brutal acceleration and braking. He also held a record for speed, driving in reverse which he fortunately didn't demonstrate while I was riding with him.
  21. Lifted Se7en with off road suspension, what a concept! I like it too. Reminds me of the lifted Exocet: http://www.thedrive.com/article/2200/slinging-mud-in-the-lifted-turbo-miata-of-your-dreams
  22. Yes, FM only provides the complete package, engine, transmission, differential, suspension, brakes, drive shaft, halfshafts and seam welding all upgraded to handle the HP and torque. They also do extensive road and track testing before turning them loose on the public.
  23. Yes, I still have the 2005 Miata with the LS376/480 engine. In October 2015 I purchased a new generation 2016 Miata. Flyin Miata is developing an LS3 engine conversion for that car. I volunteered my car for the prototype but they decided to do the first one on one of their own cars so mine is 1st on the waiting list for a customer conversion. Mine will have the LS376/525 engine. FM's build diary: https://www.flyinmiata.com/V8/ND/index.php?UID=1 They are planning on having it on the road in time for their annual Summer Camp in August. I will test drive it at that time and make the final decision as to whether to go ahead with the conversion of my car.
