  1. I know this is a car enthusiast site, but I find that even more impractical than a 7, without the knowing, geek factor, that we all find so endearing. Of course, anything that runs properly is putting it ahead of anything I've got or had.
  2. I had understood you could bring in a new kit car no problem, as long as you did it in bits, not as a complete package. Here in Ontario, you can simply show the MTO your parts list, which comprise a "kit" (can be practically anything you say it is) and they give you your VIN, and Bob's your uncle.
  3. If my memory serves from that site, there are several iterations of the "Duratec" and it might depend on which one; some are straight from Mazda and I think others are not. One has to check the model/serial numbers to be sure.
  4. It looks fantastic! Congratulations on finishing. It is a route I would have taken had it been an option for me where I live. Instead, I burned myself, and my wallet, out on a bigger project that I wish to sell, so I can finally start driving more. Be aware of very bumpy roads, speed bumps, potholes etc because it can get bad when you hit those.
  5. Hi Fred! I have thought of a K series Honda many times, until I saw the price of them. Sorry don't want to threadjack! But... I have my Deman SR7 (SR20DET now) for sale BTW It is registered and insured in Ontario. A few spares are included: AEM ECU (not installed), scuttle, fibreglass rear panel... $15,000 I'm in Gatineau. email: phoffen2001 at yahoo dot com
  6. You must have been sitting right beside me! My phone shots are almost exactly the same.
  7. Have you sat in one of those with a helmet on? Because the standard fibreglass types, very similar to the Tilletts, minus the CF price, put your head at a bad angle. What about a bead seat made justa for you? That's what the single seater people do.
  8. oui monsieur
  9. I am only scared of other drivers when I drive my 7 alike. It is unlike any other vehicle you will ever drive and cannot be compared to anything else other than a single seater race car. But at it's heart, it is English. I don't think I need to go on.
  10. Pretty much sums it all up!

How many shovelfuls of rocks did you get out of it afterwards? I'm still finding them after one outing last year.
  12. That looks excellent!
  13. My clearance was about 75 mm, and 300 lb springs, front and back. Now I have about 130 mm front and 140 mm back clearance. I thought the suspension was bottoming out when it was actually just the pan hitting the ground. I very soon saw OIL PRESSURE, quickly followed by no power and a fairly quick stop. But I prefer to dwell on the future...
  14. There is a long thread on sump guards on here somewhere. I know I lost an engine due to hitting the ground going over a very bumpy road, so don't think it can't happen! It was a mistake that cost me about $6000 when it was all done.
  15. My lack of ride height cost me somewhere around $6000, and a year's driving. Not including the cost of angst.
  16. go to http://www.motoringtv.com/richard-kent-p148097 different engine now, different nosecone blah blah blah, but basically the same.
  17. That, my friends, is called prioritising.
  18. no. they will take all your information as you enter it, and contact you. i am covered by them.
  19. Try going through the Hagarty USA site. They will find an Ontario broker, but you will deal directly with Hagarty in Michigan. They ask for all your other insurance before approving everything. Once you have all that, you can get plated.
  20. One thing you might think about is that these things attract more attention than Dolly Parton's chest. You get tired of it, actually. I've never actually met Dolly Parton, although she sings well, I hear.
  21. You need to generate revenue somehow in order to have a tax base, so the individual earners/corporations can't be taken for granted. My thinking is that someone, somehow, somewhere, has to pay for all these things we like. Nobody wants to be told they don't matter.
  22. Those roads are no worse than the roads where I live, except ours are completely paved. Except for the large holes every few meters.
  23. Weather looks like here. I was going to say "soyez prudent" but I guess I don't have to. Something else to plan for!
  24. Do you really want a country run 100% by WalMart, General Motors, Exxon et al? Because that's where "small government" leads. Don't forget, taxes pay for roads, sewers, and in most countries but not yours, health care. Sorry, I couldn't resist! I think when you look in the dictionary under "wind up", you'll find this thread.
  25. Guns are one reason (and certainly not the only one) I chose not to live in California. It is your choice to deal with this issue in the way that suits your country. But the rest of the world looks upon this subject as a bit weird. Just saying...
