Wiper arms & blades, Hand Brake set up
Vinman1 replied to Vinman1's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
Ordered some clamp on wiper arms from Moss part #164-640. Will keep looking for short blades to fit them as per conversation with Moss does not have any short enough. Handbrake set up is still very elusive... -

WTB S3 Green nose, grill and right rear fender
Vinman1 replied to BlakeT's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
Blake, I have a Green nose cone. It is for a "long nose" Seven. Not sure if it is correct for a 1997? Can send pic if you think it will work. V -
I got the hydraulic clutch for the type E Rocket box trans sorted. I got a set up from RetroFord in the UK. It installed and works flawlessly and I would highly recommend! I was able to speak with the owner and designer of the system who answered any questions. Top notch! Cheers, V

The crankcase vent is a hole right above your fuel pump block off plate. Looks like there is a plug in it. I connected mine and the valve cover vent to a cannister sourced from Burton and is working fine. I did not put the drain back line in, and am not getting any build up in tank as of yet. Drawing is from Burton tuning guides found at the bottom of their web page.

What trans do you have?

Better pic of Ivey gasket on pan I removed due to ground clearance issue. Twice as thick as the ones that came with stock gasket kit

I had to make a throttle cable bracket and a vibration brace for the carbs. Had vacuum leaks at the carb with the soft mount kit. used regular washers with the rubber gaskets, carbs finally leak free and able to be balanced. I managed to get the exact same oil pan you have from a club member. I had to modify the holes on the non carb side to make fit, but has worked out awesome! I used Permatex Ultra black and the front / rear main seals are great stuff I got from Ivey Engines. Although it works, next time I will use Permatex Tack to hold the Ivey gaskets to the block, they overpowered the Ultra, so it two of us to keep them in place when putting the pan on.

The x cross member in front of the engine helps. Mine does not have it, so I had slit a piece black irrigation pipe to protect it. Glad I did, since I had the engine in an out five times.

I have an AutoSparks harness in mine. Maybe thats why I am having a charging issue?

wdb, Congrats on getting to this point, seeing the engine in, and the reality of making it breath fire very soon, is a great milestone on these car build adventures! Cheers, V

Wiper arms & blades, Hand Brake set up
Vinman1 replied to Vinman1's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
I got some for a Mini that were not correct. The ones I borrowed are much smaller and have a screw type clamp. -
Hope all are enjoying their Sevens. Looking for wiper arms & blades (or car that Sevens used them from). I borrowed a pair from a friend's '64 for Inspection. They are Anco with a screw down clamp assembly at wheelbox. Those worked really well. Also, need handbrake bits, any and all from handle to live axle. V

Looks great, I like the baffle set set up. Did you make it?
-
This is the pan. Has a really nice four way baffle system. Note that, although wider, it is the same height as a stock pan, meaning you will not gain any ground clearance. That is why it is best for track use, or maybe a car that sits higher than mine. The guys at Ivey are great and were a lot of help. Many more photos of this pan on their web site https://iveyengines.com/parts/ I will probably sell mine since I don't see me swapping it back for track days.

My engine builder tells me the pick up should be 1/8 to 1/4 from the deepest part of the sump. I currently have an aluminum front sump pan from Ivey Engines that is a great quality wet sump track pan, however, sits too low for road use. I am going to change it this week to a stock, front sump pan I had modified for ground clearance. I also have stock rear sump pan from a Capri, that needs the bottom replaced due to rust holes. I am curious as to where you got your rear sump? Your photos and questions are very helpful. Thanks for posting. V

Anker, Planning on being part of it! Got some bugs to sort out with car. Will be in touch soon. Vin

Watched the video, pretty slick! Just have to figure out what is under the skin that was already on the car. From frame drawings, and web search, perhaps the scuttle tab bolt go through the outer and inner skins, in the corner where the square down tube meets the horizontal round tube? Scott, not sure what you mean by rivnutting the fronts? The only other attachment for the scuttle I have is are the four vertical studs welded to the frame, which use steel u channel brackets to clamp down on the formed U channel of the scuttle. Here are the U channel brackets sitting on the four studs.

Scott, My body does not have the holes in the skins either. I have not looked at any drawings, but I take it there should holes under it in the frame? V

Scott, I have been pondering how to go about that, and now have to get to it before putting the windscreen on. Toldfield, thank you for informing me of a tool I never knew of. Will search info on how to use it, and hope it solves the issue of drilling in the wrong place. Chris, thank you for the compliment, greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, The pipes in the photo you have seen are not packed, that is the "track day" pipe. I have a a road pipe as well. The valve cover is a Burton item that they sell only in Red or Black. Did not like those colors so, I sanded the outside, masked off the bare aluminum raised areas, and painted with silver engine paint. The powered by Ford badge is an Ebay or Amazon item.

Thanks guys for commenting. My hope is that this build will inspire others (especially the younger gens) to pay tribute to those that have moved on to the next chapter while preserving and enjoying special cars. Could be a car not completed or one dreamed about and never owned. Back in the shop tomorrow, engine is back in, new concentric clutch has been plumbed and gravity bleed, will test first thing, then if all good, carbs and starter go on, and start shakedown runs! Need to be ready for Fish & Chip run!

Scotticus, Glad you enjoyed it! Can't wait to put some miles on it! Cheers, V

Chris, Thanks for pointing that out. Mine were welded on, not brazed. I believe it was originally done at DSK.
