  1. Thx croc, but in my non-sensible mind I was thinking keep the BDR Caterham for myself, selling the xflowS4 to offset the cost :-)
  2. Hmmm ... for $50k, buy both of these, swap engines, and sell the resulting Crossflow S4 ... but for how much ... ?
  3. 1600 miles is a day-and-a-half in a 'normal' car for me. That said, once did nearly 2000 miles in a 7 in a 'noon Wednesday to noon Friday' trip, and it was WAY WAY too much .... stretch it out, see the sights, BONDING is your primary goal, right ? (Can't do that when its too loud to even shout, let alone chat. Drive a bit, stop often, bond a lot .... :-)
  4. no affiliation etc etc, it's just popped up on my race website; don't reply to me, thx http://www.apexspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74402
  5. Wondering what might have become of my first "7" (a clone actually). This was a pretty good imitation of a series 3, one of several built by a guy named Gary Wolf up in Ontario Canada. When last seen back in 2002-ish: I'd sold it to New England Classic Cars in Stratford, Connecticut (lets not get side-tracked, ok?), had a Toyota 2TG and 5-speed, had mis-matched front and rear wheel bolt circle pitch, had a cloth Caterham seat (driver side only, empty space on other side, roll bar height had been shortened several inches after this photo taken would buy it back under right circumstances imacautosport@gmail.com cheers
  6. thx, yes I am aware of the temporary import for display etc but that has a hard 365 day limit at which point you must prove its be exported .... and they also make a big point of saying it can't come straight back in again LOL
  7. Does anyone know definitively (please, no speculation), can we bring in a car that isn't quite 25 years old yet, use it for track days, then on its 25th birthday tag it for road use, or will it not even be allowed off the boat because its only 23 years old? thx
  8. I've no car to put them on :-)
  9. Have four short lengths left over. 32" and 42" of small 'bulb' diameter 52" and 56" of larger bulb diameter $20 shipping included to lower 48 imacautosport@gmail.com
  10. Set of six unused bushings for an older Caterham; not sure of all possible applications, call for specific dimensions if you think you can use them. $50 shipping included to lower 48. imacautosport@gmail.com
  11. Not sure how I ended up with 6 loose nuts, but all look virtually new. $20 bucks shipping included to lower 48 imacautosport@gmail.com
  12. Not mine, no affiliation etc etc etc but as its oversize and not scca-legal, it has lesser race value but still attractive to us. http://www.apexspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74158
  13. Thx. Full text of my questions and replies for those following the auction: "Hi, that "chip in steering mount" is actually a cracked brake master cylinder mount. I would not drive it like that whatsoever. That said, its easily replaced, car looks good, and I'm waiting until Monday .... Any idea what specific Quaife box you have? Is the axle reinforced properly? Who built the engine? thx" "Hi, part of the mount is broken, seems okay but I just wanted to point it out, the bolt seems to tighten sufficiently. The gearbox is an early Ford, from the Pinto and similar with the smaller input shaft than the SOHC engine cars had such as the Capri 2.0. Only the shifter is Quaife, as is the shift knob. The throws are very short, which some may not like, but it is quite precise, with no play. It's new. The axle does not have the beam welded to it as some have done. If I had more power and sticky tires I would go with the Ford one, and change the Spitfire hubs out on the front to ones with the Ford bolt pattern. Engine done locally by me, so take your chances! Thank you."
  14. I sent Caterham in England a picture of my chassis plate, and they wrote back confirming my car didnt exist, which only cemented the feelings I had developed for the Caterham "dealer" I'd bought from.
  15. Autocourseinc ?
  16. Nice car! Looks like a clone of mine that I foolishly let get away, except .... Yours is year 2000, but I see a tunnel-mounted handbrake; my 2002 had the handbrake under the dash, what spec did you order? Who built the engine? thx
  17. Hi Adam, this car still appears on Brink's website, showing both an Arizona and Georgia tag, and two different front suspension configurations. You talk about its 2012 importation, but not clear if you are the original and sole owner? Did Brink build the car, or some previous owner? How long have you owned it? thx

    2003 SV for sale

Apologies if I'm misinformed, but "K-Series" has always meant a Rover engine. That said, there was a 1.8 litre Ford Zetec, and the photo seems to show a "Z" on the cam cover, so I'd want more info first. Also, titles are one thing, but does this car have a current road tag and insurance in Alabama? (or any US state?) (again, photos suggest they were taken in Europe). thx
  19. I've used Passport Transport three times now, two street cars and a formula car. All painless, quick, perfect transactions, but all over $1000 each. Have also twice gone the "mystery broker" route for street cars.... one painless, the other a nightmare. Both under $450 .... ya pays yer money and takes yer chances .....
  20. "1969 Lotus Seven. S4 chassis with S3 body." is that even possible?
  21. Also, its not just whether the wires on the cap are in the correct positions. There are typically 11 drive teeth on the distributor drive gear, and therefore 10 ways to get it wrong when you install it into the block....
  22. the extended length, unsupported ball joint in bending the spring/damper punch loads through flat stock on the lower A-Arm I will delete my earlier comment and leave others to decide for themselves
